Seedsman Sponsored Grow: Peyote Wi-Fi By Beez

I ask because I'm still learning and asking is the best way to acquire knowledge. And I learned something right there. I have always figured seeds made from a reversed plant would produce plants just like the reversed plant.

So are you saying that a clone is not an exact genetic match with the mom plant? I guess that would be like a red headed kid and a black headed kid from the same parents? Or does the mailman come into play in that scenario?
Well a clone is genetically an exact copy of the mom. But that doesn't mean that it will always grow the same. I can take 10 clones from a plant and send them to 10 people that grow it different mediums and in different environmental conditions and those plants can express themselves different, especially when given sufficient time to adapt to their growing conditions.

But back to the reversal seeds. No they aren't an exact duplicate of the mom. S1s will show multiple phenos even if all the seeds were made from a single parent. Keep in mind....generally a cannabis plant has 10 sets of chromosomes, 10 from each parent. When you do a fem S1, all 20 chromosomes are being provided by the mom so there will be some variation in there. How much will depend on how well the line was worked before the mom was bred.

I just gave the Peyote Wi-Fi her last watering until she is up-potted probably on Monday. Once up-potted I'll give her a few days to settle in and then get her flipped. The plant is looking great. My only concern is her main stalk and side branches don't seem very strong. I do not believe she will be able to hold up much weight without supports so I'll push in a strong center one when I up-pot her. I have been feeding her Pro-Tekt silica in her waterings for the last 3 weeks and via foliar spraying the last two weeks. She has started pushing out 11 finger leaves which are quite large in size. Under the weather with a bad head cold so feeling lazy today so just one quick picture.

What were you thinking about 11 petal leaves @MagicJim ?? ;)

I feel like I remember reading somewhere that the number of fingers your plants put ou on their leaves is directly related to their overall health
I'd never heard that and my gut instinct would say it's more genetics based then health based.

True, genetics will dictate it ultimately. But I think, a plant in a favorable environment will produce leaves with the maximum number of fingers that the genetics are capable of.

I've visited. Every one of his little areas are ripe for growing plants. It just feels right and smells delicious.

Today was up-pot day for the Peyote Wi-Fi plant. Her side branches have taken off since topping her about a week ago. I thought about waiting a week before flipping her but said the heck with it. I was pleased with how well the up-potting went into her brand new 7 gallon fabric pot. Here are a bunch of photos. She has big ole leaves.

Yes exactly. I've been foliar spraying her and feeding her Pro-tekt silica for 5 weeks but she's not gotten any stronger and her main stalk is on the thin side and not very strong. I see problems ahead if things don't change.

Trouble in Paradise!!
My last post was on Sunday. If you'll recall I up-potted my Peyote Wi-Fi plant from a 2 gallon container to it's forever home in a 7 gallon fabric pot. The plant had a really nice, healthy root mass. Nowhere near rootbound, but nice white roots from bottom to top of the soil mass. I got her located in the tent and got her watered. That brings us to today.

I did not notice anything amiss when I gave her a little water this morning. But when checking on her this afternoon something caught my eyes, and being honest it really pissed me off. This is what I saw. So far only on a few of the huge fan leaves but geez!!!

With advice from trusted soil growers on 420 it was determined that I needed to feed her some Cal-mag. So I mixed up a half gallon of water with 2ml of Cal-mag and slowly watered it in covering as much of the surface as possible. What makes me mad in my roller coaster ride of learning to grow in organic soil is the plant has only been in the soil for 2 freakin days and is already showing a deficiency in flowering. My experience so far with organic soil is that the plants do really quite well in veg, but not as well in flowering.

For this sponsored grow I bought all new ingredients to make what should be a high quality soil. I purchased Coast of Maine Lobster compost. I bought a bag of fresh earthworm castings. A big bag of medium sized perlite which I rinsed thoroughly before use. And I mixed 1/2 Sphagnum Peet Moss with 1/2 Pro-Mix BX. I invested in Clackamas Coots minerals and nutrients and followed the mixing directions to the letter. The soil was mixed 2.5 weeks prior to use. If this grow does not go well I'll have a bunch of ingredients for sale. :(

For the next watering I will be making a couple gallons of ACT which I hope can maybe kick start the soil a bit.

With luck that will prevent the plant from losing too many more leaves.

I understand what your saying Beez. You shouldn’t have a deficiency in fresh soil I wouldn’t think. Frustrating I’m sure. I grow with Docs kit and if there are signs of anything wrong it usually comes back to the microbes not connecting with the roots. So if my leaves look like this and I know the ratios are right for the minerals in the soil then I gotta fix the microbes. Maybe the ACT will do that if it wasn’t just needing a little extra cal mag. Anyway...Hoping she straightens up soon for ya!

Thanks @Mr. Magoo . I looked her over pretty well this morning. I saw one more leaf showing the deficiency. I'm hoping the Cal-Mag will take care of the plant until the soil kicks in. This is all new to me so I'm learning as I go. Fortunately there are helpful folks here on 420 always willing to pitch in and help someone out who needs it.

...I'm sure you'll get them to turn around beez...I'm curious as to why you went 1/2 and 1/2 with peat and BX?...in my mind, you have essentially thinned out the inoculum that is in the BX that use the minerals and nutrients to make roots and deliver the goods...I wouldn't hesitate to scratch in some additional mychorizae to stimulate root and plant growth...

...cheerz... :high-five: ...h00k...:hookah:...
