Seedsman Sponsored Grow: Peyote Wi-Fi By Beez

well the nirvana/Sensi cross is clearly a winner. Can’t wait to see how she looks in flower. How did the Smoke from the nirvana NL IBL compare to the Sensi counterpart?

Interesting you should ask that. About 5 people have grown both and compared the two together. Three of them preferred the smoke from the cross saying it had a more pleasant aroma and flavor then the straight up Sensi. Two preferred the flavor and aroma of the Sensi NL. However, one of those that preferred the Sensi, and two that preferred the NL IBL cross said they thought the cross was a little better high, that the NL IBL was a tad more potent. I think they're very similar but do feel the cross produces more trichromes, is a little stronger smelling in flowering, and the high is a little quicker hitting. But as with a lot of things it's personal preference right?

it’s not just personal preference, it’s also completely subjective! based on that, you’ve got me thinking the cross is slightly better cause of hybrid vigor. It grows a little faster so it ends up with a bit more glads, a bit more resin, etc. I want to say I should do the Sensi NL sooner rather than later to compare... but I’ve got so many things I wanna grow out!

You and 95% of the people on here @ChefDGreen . I dream of having a 50' x 50' room with state of the art lighting and air circulation with temperature and humidity control as easy as turning a dial. But alas I have to content myself growing in my 4x4 tent.

Her mom/dad was a Sensi NL and was a clone from a friend's NL plant. That mother plant was flowered out in I believe a 10 gallon pot and the yield was just over 16 ounces. I know she was vegged a good bit of time. So the genes are there.
she was flowered out in a 15 gallon pot.....vegged for 70 days. I was gonna do 10 but she was growing too fast so I went from the 10 to a 15 last minute before flipping.

So it seems like I acquired a few Nirvana NL seeds from you. Regs I think. Were the Nirvana NL seeds from a totally different mating?

The Nirvana Northern Lights IBL is from Nirvana and are regular seeds. I pollinated one of the Nirvana NL plants with Sensi NL pollen and the resulting seeds have been producing amazing plants.

Glad to see the genetics are making their way around. I lost her this year and was really bummed about it. I also crossed her with a really fruity smelling Harlequin male for some evening CBD meds. Havent grown any out yet though....i should, I have about 2k seeds lol

Wouldn't seeds from a clone of your plant have the same DNA as the plant you lost? I'm sure I gave you a bunch of the S1 Sensi NL seeds @Van Stank

youd be in the professional realm with that kind of space!

It's will have the genetics but it's not an exact duplicate. With enough seeds you will likely find something close to the mom. I would have preferred to have kept the cut though.

I ask because I'm still learning and asking is the best way to acquire knowledge. And I learned something right there. I have always figured seeds made from a reversed plant would produce plants just like the reversed plant.

So are you saying that a clone is not an exact genetic match with the mom plant? I guess that would be like a red headed kid and a black headed kid from the same parents? Or does the mailman come into play in that scenario?

I think what he was implying was the process of reversing a clone's flower from female to male allows something in the mix. Early on I reversed a Blue Dream for S1 seeds. While the original mom was a ho hum Blue Dream the S1 seed plants were ho hum Blue Dreams that expressed the nanners late in flower.

Perhaps the hermaphroditic qualities were from stress issues but it happened in 420% of the progeny that I've seen grown. I think a reversal allows some gene qualities to change slightly. Just my theory of course.

Plants carry more genes than just their dominant. Eg the plant may have a recessive gene for some trait and not display it. However if it breeds with itself it is possible to hve the recessive combination. For example both my parents hve brown eyes yet mine are blue. Brown is dominant therefore I have no gene for brown eyes but both my parents must hve he a recessive gene for blue.

in the case of the blue dream @MagicJim, it’s possible the intersex trait was outbred out of the seeds you received and that’s why the mom didn’t show intersex. However making seeds out of that plant alone produced intersex progeny because the genes were there lurking.

Why are you sending out seeds that produce ho hum flowers? ;)

A quick update on the Peyote Wi-Fi plant. She was topped I think two days ago when she had reached 19 inches in height from the top of the pot. Her color is beautiful. She is putting out some really large 9 bladed leaves. All is going smoothly at this point.

I thought this was pretty. A sugar leaf off of an autoflower plant I just harvested recently.
