All kidding aside for one moment. I am obviously getting real close to my first harvest. So I guess I want to know how to chop her down. I get that I have to cut away all the fans and hang her but do I cut the sweet leaves at this time? Or do you manicure after drying but before cure?

I manicure the buds green then dry. surgar and fans. give you some sissor hash
I have also dried with the surgar on and some say it stops the trichs from getting knocked off.
but I like the first better

Thanks Fishy! I got a ton of mason jars for the cure. How long can one store buds in jars for? I am thinking long term for some of the buds as I want to be able to compare my grows over time.

I agree with fish, I like to trim then dry, much easier that way, I usually lollipop a week before harvest to assist in flushing, then it makes trimming a whole lot easier. If you keep the leaves on they tend to wrap around your buds and make your buds take longer to dry and make it harder to remove the leaves when they do dry

Buds are kind of like whiskey, they get better with age, my understanding is as long as you dry and cure properly they can be good for years in an airtight container

I have heard the term lollipop several times can you please give a detailed explanation? Maybe even some pictures, I am a visual learner.

It may also be a tactic used by dirty ol growers to get a better look at the hotties! lol.

the key to long term storage is humidity.and cure
you want a humidity level of like 62% and then maintain that. if you do achieve the magic number you should be able to store them for about 6 months in mason jars.
so lets talk about how you get to the curing stage.
once you hang them to dry for maybe a week the stem should snap but not break off.
then she is ready to can after you place your buds in the jar you will want to open the jars twice a day for about 15 minutes leave them open. if the jars are packed tight take all of the buds out and rotae them top to bottom. this will stop them from going moldy. do this step for another week. also they sell humidity packs at cigar stores that one you have cured them will maintain the level of 62%.
if for some reason they should get to dry. you can take a damp bud and stick in the jar or a piece of apple or orange peel to rehydrate some of the buds. but try not to let them get to dry.
I dont have a meter to test for humidity so I play it by ear. you know whats right I'am sure so when it is your done

Yeah it would totally suck to go through all this, then fuck up on drying or curing then end up with either harsh shitty smoke or worthless moldy smoke .

Lets hope we all cure right and end up with Cannabis Cup quality smoke. Good enough for at least top 10 hehe .
