Rifleman's Roost Open 24/7: Perpetually Perplexed

I may not be using cannabis to cure a particular ailment right now. It's always been more rec for me. But I have friends who have given up drinking, lost a ton of weight and even healed themselves of type 2 diabetes. Not saying the herb it's self did that but it got him off booze and in the right direction.
I myself have wicked ADD and can get real angry if something ticks me off. My wife on the other hand suffers from anxiety and prob drinks more than she should. But she doesn't like the feeling most of the weed I've had gives her.
I hoping through my growing process I'll be able to find strains that work best for our needs and maybe a few friends.

Sent from my iPhone using 420 Magazine

For the wife I'd recommend a strain that has a balanced ratio of CBD to THC, or even one that hits closer to a 2:1 ratio CBD:THC. The CBD offsets most of the euphoria from the THC and the combination will temper anxiety. You may find the same relief for the ADD. It's recommended you stick to an indica-dominant strain for treating anxiety. My daughter has anxiety intense enough that she's on disability, and CBD Critical Cure from Barney's Farm has been a lifesaver for her. She's having to learn to be social now that the anxiety is controlled.

......
I'll also have a veggie garden going soon too. Does AN work well outside as a water in feed with a miracle grow applicator or something?

I'm going to find out this year I reckon. :)

A LOT of marketing going on. Everywhere. Turns out the cannabis world is no different than any other marketplace where hype and substance are often deliberately hard to tell apart.
Over the years I have believed what the weight-loss and hair-replacement companies claim too...
I'm still fat and bald.
Peace, Hyena

:rofl::rofl: I can't help you with the bald, but a good sativa helped me lose 60lbs. :thumb: I've put 15 back on but I needed to, 6ft and 165 was too thin.

The sun is shining, temperatures are up, and I'm craving some rays. :smokin: I'll see y'all later. :)

You mention temps. Is there a ideal temp you like to keep your water? Im sure too warm would get knda nasty down there. :volcano-smiley: apparently you have it under control as you have some beautiful plants bub.

That's funny, a good sativa helped my local Domino's lose about a thousand pizzas in the last couple years.

Peace, (burp) Hyena

Ideally I'd like bucket temps to be 68°F or lower. Unless we are in the dead of Winter I have heat problems. I rely on passive cooling and pulling cool air from against the outside wall of the room. One day I'll move the tent to the basement or switch to something cooler than my hps... or not. I hate to change when things work, even if it is marginally. :)

Finally one of the girls has a zero growth day. It's a good thing too, my light is as far up as I can get it. It leaves me with around 4 inches between the top of DC2 and the glass. Perfect. :)

Thanks for clarifying that bub! Hope your upcoming weekend is good. Im chillin lime a villain :thumb::volcano-smiley:

FRIDAYYYYY !! :) It doesn't mean much to us old guys when everyday IS Saturday, except it does mean I need to make sure I have enough water sitting out de-chlorinating for a water change Sunday.

It looks like upward growth is finally slowing. When it stops so do the daily data postings. It's cramping my Lazy Grower Style. :Namaste:

Day 45

I want to make a quick point here for those who are confused, overwhelmed, scared, or intimidated by DWC. It's not that hard. When you see all this data it can seem too much, but a Grower really doesn't need all this. I'm using two different brands of buffered nutrients, and aren't adjusting pH in any of my buckets. The only numbers I need worry about are ppm and temperature. The ppm only so I know where I'm at so as not to burn them up.

Temperature..... yes I'm fighting heat. :bitingnails: This is the hardest thing about dwc for me. I haven't had a reservoir temperature below 70°F since Day 30 on March 16th. As a matter of fact most days I'm at 73° or better, and today up to 76° even. :thedoubletake:

Beneficial Bacteria !!! Hydroguard is worth the $30/qt. Treat every gallon that goes in your reservoirs.
<~~~~Write this down, it's on the test.

I can't do active hydro for temp reasons. I've tried many things over the years. I used spray insulation on my res. I pumped water thru a water cooler. I've pondered using AC units as coolers or buying an actual cooler.
Of course, 30 degrees of cooling are just way too much to ask for from any of these solutions.

I wonder if you could raise your passing cooling levels by enclosing the res and blowing some cool air thru it? Perhaps also insulating grow buckets to limit heat exchange in the buckets.

There are a few things I could do to fight the heat Tead. Number one would be to reroute my duct work to blow the exhaust into the attic. It has been being used to heat the house during Winter. As if we've had a Winter this year. :biglaugh: Or I could turn on the a/c, it's been warm enough. I'm too lazy and cheap to do either. I'd rather bitch about it. :yikes: The weather liars are calling for subfreezing next week, so I'll let it ride and make sure y'all hear me complain. :)

Forgot to drop this here earlier. Day 46 is finally posted for those that were anxiously waiting. <snerk>

I fight the rez temp battle all the time. Defo can't afford a chiller. I have faith in the benes i run. My little drop in thermometer says 70° mostly. No problems as of yet( knock on wood). Tead, i dont think any amount of benes will work if the water is just below boiling. lol Thanks the weed gods theres hempy, eh?
That enclosed rez idea has been bouncing around in my mind for some time as well. Hmmm

Day 47 Water Change. Tiny changes in the feed recipe, JK2 finally getting a real growth spurt, and most of the other's upward growth stopping are the only news this week. :)

Anyone with questions or comments feel free to shout out. I'm going back out to the lake while the sun is still shining and will be back later to defend myself and the honor of my little girls.

Peace Out Yall. :peace:

Do you have the Monday Morning Blues ? Spend some time in your garden. It did wonders for me today. :)

I broke out the Fiskers and had my way with the girls. The JK has such huge fan leaves that most of the bottom growth is wispy... well was. I should have thinned them much earlier.

The DC carried the dark devil genes in the odor department. They have the same sweet floral scent. <deep breath> Yep, it's a glorious Monday. ;)

Time for some data. Three of the four had a zero growth night. :thumb: As soon as JK1 stops growing so do these reports. Enjoy them while you can.

OK, I'm thinking Devil's Carnival for my next auto run. Yours look amazing Luke. :high-five:

I'm going to go out on a limb and say your computer auto corrected you to carnival since you type it so much. :) Devil's Crack my dear.

I'd like to see some others grown. This is truly a first run here. There was another, but it was grown off to the side under only 10hrs light per day so it doesn't count in my mind. If the final haul is a nice large one I may have to run 4 at a time next year. The lack of an offensive (to some) odor is a huge plus.

Let's see them folks. Those of you who scored the SSDC while they were available, drop some beans. ;)

If you are wandering in from one of the pH threads, Welcome to The Roost. :ciao: All my photos are linked to larger versions, and any and all questions are encouraged. Check my blog entries for some DIY dwc stuff, and deficiency charts/photos. While you're at it take this too :joint: Pass it left, if that person is slow go ahead and bogat until you're caught.

What's your feelings on when to mix nutes and how long they should sit before using? I was wondering if I could my the night before?

I mix mine in four separate five gallon buckets, then start the water change. From mixing to pouring in the now clean and ready growing bucket varies from 30 to 90 minutes. You could mix the night before, but I'm betting you'll have particulate matter fall out of suspension without the constant agitation of aeration.
