Rifleman's Roost Open 24/7: Perpetually Perplexed

I was going to say it may not be the laziest means of procuring nutrients but, and do not doubt my laziness, my frugality/cash flow sometimes make small bursts of energy worth it to me.

Wake up and bake up! Good Saturday Morning Folks. :) As promised here are some photos from yesterday's AutoUltimate harvest.

As you can see I burned the devil out of the tops when they would get against the light. I should have supercropped them a little sooner, and farther down the stem.

So far the wet harvest looks like this:
One paper grocery bag full of stems and stalks drying so I can screen them for the kief.
One five gallon bucket of fan leaves that will also get screened.
A trim bin over flowing with sugar trim from the autoultimates.
56g very dry trim from the six shooters, along with 324g dry bud from them too.
And finally 1697g of wet autoultimate buds drying in the rack. :)

Clean up will continue until the new beans arrive. Monday will be two weeks since shipping so any day now. Another crop will be dropped as soon as they come in. In the mean time I still have the DDA to deal with.:cheertwo:

Hope you enjoy the photos. I know these aren't the prettiest plants I've ever grown, but they will get me high, so it's all good. :biglaugh:

:WooHoo: HARVEST!!!! Nice haul Lucas. You screen the branches and stems? Do you chop them up or anything? I wonder if Major's freezer Hash trick would be effective with this? I can't see why not. I save all of mine, have lots, to be honest, and this possibility hadn't occurred to me.

Most days a small burst of energy would kill me. :biglaugh: How about a pointer to the article Laz ? I'm sure the boss will edit any link, but maybe spell it out for us. I'm not too lazy to read, just have a hard time turning pages. ;)

Freezer, dry ice, or like I do it, lazily, will all work. I just do it the easiest way for me. The fan leaves and stems are separated, stalks cut into 4 to 6 inch lengths. It all gets dried to bone then tossed in small batches into the trim bin which gets covered with heavy aluminum foil. Shake, rattle, roll and the 220 screen does the rest. I had never thought about it until I saw a YouTube video where this Cat was screening his branches. Stunned was I :) I never throw them away without a screening now.

It's not a huge haul like Major gets, but I always seem to have some on hand to sprinkle on a bowl. :bong:

I do believe it's time to order some screening. What size screen do you find works best for you and, if you don't mind, where did you get them?

I use a Harvest More Trim Bin I got from the big river web site. IIRC it has a 220 screen approx 9x12 in the bottom. :)

I was looking at trays the other day. Worth buying? I know harvesting my last 2 plants killed my back by the end and theres waaaay more to trim this time around. Im dreadticipating it.

It was an added start up expense Laz. I suppose it will eventually pay for itself in captured kief. :dreamy: The ease of loading up the bin with branches and sitting down on the couch, doing hours of trimming instead of standing is priceless though. For my old bones anyways. :biglaugh: Now if I could invent a way of trimming without having to look down I could be a rich man. My neck has a definite ache today.

I find these conversations charming. You grow for yourself Lucas. How much need do you have for trimming? I snap most of the big fans off before I cut and then I take the medium sized ones off and leave the rest to dry. They knock off with ease later, and I keep most of the sugar leaves on the buds. They have the best trichomes. Why would I want to remove them?

Well, I guess if I were making hash with them that might be a different matter, wouldn't it? Hmmmmm...... I'll have to consider that. When I'm using the plant for oil production it's easier to keep them whole, after the fans are removed, that is, so there's very little trimming. With brownies it's the same, only easier. No trimming of the sugar leaves is necessary.

Even when it's for my own smoke I find it easier to leave the sugar leaves intact and knock off any undesirable bits before loading into the bowl.

I guess I'm a little lazier than you Mr. McCain. :battingeyelashes:

Along with my lazy streak Sue, I suffer from a case of OCD that would drive a Virgo insane. I've smoked enough grass with the smell and taste of rot or mold to last a lifetime. I have a fear of destroying a crop that way so I trim it up nice and neat. Not to mention the vanity factor. ;) It always makes me feel good to hear friends ohh and ahh over the lovely bud "my dealer" sells, while their's only has commercial brick weed.

I find the alcohol methods easiest. Grind everything up, let it stew in some alcohol, evaporate the alcohol, smoke the residue.
Easy... lazy... my kinda dance.

Tead my man, that just sounds... messy. ;) I'm afraid if I brought a bottle of PGA in the house the CEO would resign before I could explain, and I darn sure wouldn't blame her. Me and alcohol used to make many bad decisions together. Used to... :Namaste:

... and I bet Roscoe's a lush.

He used to be, right along with me. Nowadays he is limited to the occasional people food snack. My sober mind worked out that it's a form of abuse to let the fat boy indulge in my destructive behaviors. :) Don't get me wrong, he's a hell of a wing man, holds his own in bar fights, and truly loved going on benders with me, but we both had to quit or die. :whoa:

The Dark Devil stretch has ended... day 61. :)

DD1...27"
DD2...30"
DD3...24.5"
DD4...26.5"

That puts DD1/2 behind their sisters by 15 days. When Wednesday rolls around and I change water, DD1 will join DD4 in receiving the mostly complete AN line up, while DD2/3 will stick to a slim mgb diet.

Something like this;

DD1-4
cal-mag 1-0-0...12ml
mgb...21ml

DD2/3
hydroguard... 9ml

DD1/4
Big Bud, Bud Candy, Rhino Skin, Bud Factor X, and Sensizym...30ml each

I choose DD1 to get the extra because it is slightly smaller than DD2, and if feeding all the extra makes a difference it'll better show there. I hope. :smokin:

Photos with water change on Wednesday. Peace Y'all. :peace:

I want to get my pets high. I can only imagine the entertainment value.
Alas, they can't tell me "No thanks Tead, I'm not into that" so I don't feel right about it... but I sure want to!
Perhaps one day I'll blur some moral barriers and see what happens.

Considering it any different to any other plant is conditioned behaviour in you. You would give any non toxic plant to your dog to make up its own mind surely no? I'm just saying if you want to try it's harmless! I appreciate where you are coming from though.
