Complicated  You of all people know how easy it is. DWC is a noisy beast. I'm always amazed how quiet the house is when the fans are off and the buckets not bubbling. OTOH the low rumble of the bubbles makes for great white noise to sleep by.

My tents are in the bedroom. The sound of the fans is a part of the sleep cycle. :laughtwo:

Hey Rifleman! I'm exactly a year late to the party, but I see it's still happening! :high-five:

I'm just starting my first grow (as you know), so if it's OK maybe I'll ask some questions here from the expert panel you seem to have assembled here. My first grow and my first DWC, so I'm really encouraged by the pics of yours. Hopefully I can come half as close.

Happy New Year!

Aye, the sound of things growing can be quite satisfying but I'd want to switch the aeroponics off if I don't want visitors to hear it. DWC might sound even more suspicious to curious young ears or an ex cop though!

And as good as coco and autopots appear to work it still seems to fall short of methods that put even less medium in the way of roots and I hear of people having issues with some nutes clogging in autopot lines, especially if they try to get creative with feeding. Still want to try it though, even if it is 10% less yield for 1% less power it should still be over 300% more than I'd be happy with from soil.....but then I'm hopeless with soil and maybe I've been looking at the wrong coco grows?

Still up for that comparative grow thing next month? I think it would be cool to see how DWC and buffered nutes compare to NFT and unbuffered nutes. I expect to be back to 1 600W for that but if you want to run 1000W I could look into getting one too?

DWC luvin bums... the lot of you!

Jealousy.... it's a problem for me... always has been. Sorry.

The ease of DWC is so appealing to a lazy grower. While I could never control the temps, I remain viciously jealous.
To be fair.... hempy pots are damn near as easy and if I were feeling feistier I'd propose the idea that they're actually easier than DWC.... but those windmills may remain un-tilted today.

(OH! A classical literature random reference! Givin myself bonus points for that one.)

I *used* to have extra bedrooms. Now I have rooms guests may share if they please... otherwise the motel 6 has a light on too. :biglaugh:

Never late here Timmy. Unless you wake up the CEO. Then there is hell to pay. :biglaugh: I'm not sure about a panel of experts, but there are some Group W Bench Sitters around. :) Ask away when you've got doubts, each question requires one joint passed right, and one passed left. When they are out, the answers end.

You know I am. :) I know the SS will be out of the way by then, just hoping for the AU to be gone too. Photos later today after water change.

I can dial my ballast back to 600w and leave it there, no probs. I usually start my grows there and wait until bloom to bump it up, but a 600w bloom will be fair enough. :) I am going to drop to two plants instead of four though... maybe. Four gets too crowded with the big ones. :)

Just think, a simple rdwc set up with a chiller, and we could call Tead a waterhead too. :) Come on man, you know you want to.

The power required to drop water from 95 to 70 is just too much... both in chiller investment and ongoing operation.
I see folks use chillers and dream, but it's just not for my world.
I even tried to make my own many times using ACs or water coolers. Just not enough cooling for them in my world. I could get 10 degrees out of them, but that's just not enough.
Some day, a change of latitudes might give me some options, but that day is not any where near today.

Happy New Year, Rifle. Looking forward to your grows.

Peace, Hyena

You suffer the heat, but reap rewards in food and culture. I'd say it's a wash. :)

HNY to you too Hyena ! You won't have to look far, update coming soon. :)

Good stuff. I don't want you holding back on my account though......I'll be running 1200 watts until it gets too warm and then I might try LEDs alongside HPS so I don't have to go back to a smaller room.

RE a chiller I've been wanting to try something using the Peltier effect by placing a thermoelectric cooler on a float in the res. Those powered coolboxes for camping work a treat at making beer cold so I figure the same technology might be good for res cooling too. It's on the list of the many things I want to try!:laughtwo:

Happy New Year my 420 Family !:circle-of-love:

I can't believe it has been a year since I opened The Roost. :) So far so good. Today was water change and photograph day for the big girls. I'm not going to bore you with details as I had a double dose of brownie a bit ago, and I'm prepping for take off. :goof:

Thanks to everyone who has participated and visited The Roost in 2016. :thanks: Stay tuned because there is more good stuff coming in 2017.:high-five:

I apologize for the AU photos, there is just no way to safely move them out of the tent anymore. :)

Powered coolboxes for camping? Oh yeah, the mini-fridge. Hampton Inns has them between the closet and crapper.... camping, <smdh>:rofl::rofl:

I'm just blown away by the stems you get so quickly. Those leaves....... gosh, it's kinda crazy how the strain gets my blood pumping.

It's all in the perspective Lucas. I look at them and see what lies ahead.

Oh I know what's coming. Just compared to everything else I grow these are the slowest to take off. Good thing they do that 3x sativa stretch thing. :)
