Relaxed's Outdoor Medical Grow - 2016

Alright now I'm back in veggie mode. Still need to take clones and transplant them into bigger pots before releasing them. I am still desensitizing them under the 18/6 schedule as well, to help get them oriented to the normalness of darkness. It shall be nice to watch the veggies grow as I let the Spring flowers cure up a bit.

These plants are mostly clones of the main strains, there was an UDxCPR which was a male and tossed. The Sour Diesel Dawg showed a female, still waiting for the other plant. And 2 unidentified BB x SM

A portion of the plants, there are 2 Blueberry x Santa Maria plants, each of which could be a male.

I'll feel a lot more accomplished once I get the clones safely rooting and everything released. Shouldn't be too long now.

:Namaste:

Veggie plants have been watered and fertilized with D&S Step 2 (as a quick fix for them, this is not an organic fertilizer, but it seems to work good for fast acting nutrients especially for minor micronute deficiencies), and then sprayed with azamax. Now they are waiting to be transplanted into bigger pots and have clones taken off them. Once this gets done, I will release plants for spring and summer vegetation. It will be quite awhile before I see my next cannabis flowers in the garden. But I do enjoy seeing them grow in the vegetation state.

In fact, my favorite part about getting to see how my medicine is grown is that transition from vegetation to the flowering state, there is something so magical about it. :cheertwo:

And yes Johnny, there is something very clearly special about my Jack Dawg, I wish I could explain the flavors :yummy:, it's very complex. I guess I got really lucky with the original mother phenotype, since mine will, it seems, undoubtedly turn purple during flower (but it really does prefer some cooler weather to kickstart it).

Happy Growing

:Namaste:

PS, I go light on the D&S, since it's not organic, I usually use it for "emergencies" to pull a plant out of a slump, my plants weren't really in a slump, just the Swiss Cheese was quite hungry and is begging to be transplanted, but don't have time to do it yet. I make sure only to feed a couple times with the inorganic nutrients and only in the veg state (unless we run into micronute deficiency in flower, then I might use Step 3 to pull them out of it, micronute deficiency can happen when using the recycled soil in the mix), as we want to avoid salt accumulation in the root zone, once they are established in their big pots, I will then begin feeding with purely organic Dr. Earth teas for the remainder of their lives. :allgood:

Even though this as an outdoor grow journal, I like to do at least one photo update of the plants under the vegetation bulbs (four 45 watt CFL bulbs = 180 watts, 5500 K). I keep the vegging area continually running (depending, usually 18/6, but sometimes 24/0) so the clone cycles can continue, as you know by know, I just release the plants when they get big enough, into the "wild" of the planter bed, then they just do whatever they want.

Thanks for showing the veg area.

I have grown several dozen plants now, but I don't have a real clear handle on when to switch from veg to flower.

How do you decide the girls are "big enough" to be released?

My vegetation area is only so big, when I get to the point where I'm basically barely able to squeeze everything in, then I start to release and clone. Usually this occurs when the plants are between 1-2 feet tall and have multiple tops and/or are bushy. From there, mother nature does the rest. It just depends on how big of plants you are able to grow given your unique spatial dimensions of the vegetation and thus flowering area. :thumb:

Lester, My veg/clone area is small also 30" X 72" X 48", but I do have my extra cabinet 36" X 30" X 36" which I can use for vag/ clone/ or sex determination :cheesygrinsmiley: Indoor blooming and any cloning or vegging will be moving into my Bedroom for the summer months. All other blooming takes place outside where the energy costs nothing and having them on a timer drip makes it so easy. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Alright, I've finished transplanting the veggies into larger scale pots. Most of these will need to be transplanted again prior to the fall flowering, but this should do them good for awhile, especially going into a fresh batch of potting soil. I'm feeling pretty good about these plants, it took them a long time to grow to this size, but nurturing them has been very well worth it. They also seemed to love the last little bit of nutrients I gave them. Now that this is done I'll clean up the planter bed a bit and then get clone preparations ready.

Let's go through each specimen individually:

The smaller plants (two un-IDed BB x SM) + (two SD x NYCD x C91 females) + (Blackberry plant #2), which aren't quite ready for transplanting yet, so these are on the backburner.

In addition to that update, here are some curing bud pictures from the Spring harvest. The Swiss Cheese came out a little bit crude this time, but does smell wonderful. The rest are looking good. I've just sampled a bowl of Blackberry and the medicinal effect is really good. Still haven't tried this batch of JD or SC. The UD has also been working wonders.
