Recess Is Over - Now To Muck Up The Lesson

:rofl: don't tell me I'm on the wrong app
Gotta watch what tab you're typing onto in this Modern Age of multiple devices/platforms that are powerful enough to maintain 50 open windows....
:passitleft:

An annual plant will start to die off once flowering begins, and I've always assumed it's from the outside in... Perennials the flowers/fruit will die on the plant, leaving the plant healthy and ready for next season....
It IS interesting. Plenty of MJ growers who cut and hang the whole plant at harvest. Or just branches at a time. How else can it be done? You want the stuff dry. I've seen a few who do the whole root system upside down for a week in the initial drying but once it's cut/pruned/boiled, it's all over for any root activity contributing anything to the buds...
The last week has GOT to be part of the process, no matter what. It's just what the plant does. I'm thinking now that maybe the old boiling water might be a goer..
Final flush, week of ripening/drying, the BAM! Boiling water to kill the activity and shock the plant into finishing up whatever it's doing...????
I'm thinking in that last week or 2, there's really not much happening root-side anyway. It's all over by then, and the plant is already dying. The flowers are also starting to deteriorate by harvest (depending how early or late that is, of course) technically anyway.

Is there a Botanist or a Biologist in the house??

I suppose the boiling water being briefly sucked up through the stem could be a bigger shock than just chopping and hanging....I dont know. So far Ive had good luck just haging my branches from the lights.

Yeah I do the whole wash thing, so major PITA that it is, (but still fun, right?1) I do branch at a time; trim, wash, drip dry then trim again (sugar leaf tips) and hang upside down.. That's what I'd like someone who knows the science to tell us... Does any boiling water get in there?? Can't be much if it does. I can't see it. Maybe the main tap but I'm thinking it's kinda like the heat kills the roots so fast, that the plant kinda does a spit-take, says "WTF??" and sends everything it's got left towards the flowers in a kinda last-ditch-but-ultimately-futile 'Alamo' last stand/tactical withdrawal..
If you did it a healthy vigorous vegging plant, I would expect to see that plant fully wilted in a day or 2, if not just plain old flat on the floor, and sooner... A bigger plant/tree could withstand multiple hot-water attacks, but sooner or later..

And of course, I could be talking out my arse as usual!
I would really like to know, now.. To the GoogleMobile!

Reading hot water is good for killing weeds, and soil-borne pests and fungi...
Room temp water is better in general, just like for us; hot water will kill foliage...

This popped up yesterday, time to pry the seed off of what, she's still tightly closed up.

And this one has the seed off but hasn't developed...

Looks like a little boxing glove punching out of the soil. Good stuff mate..

Yeah mate, you can crack those suckers off. carefully and it'll come off.. you could add some soil on top, shorten her length, make her sturdier. Or get her out and bury her deeper, if no room for extra soil..

I treat it like micro surgery when you take them off. Then sometimes you'll have a birth sack too. Roll them off like a condom.

After running hydro I do know they stop taking up nutrients when they start to finish up and only drink a little water, which causes the tds to go up instead of down it made determining harvest easy.

Hey mate :passitleft: work work work.. although doesn't feel like it at all, it's almost Christmas.. waiting on sour to dry.. taken most of buds off branches and doing final dry in paper bag... been waiting for a builder to pay me, should have been a few weeks ago. Spent my last $ in the bank two days ago.. today I had to ring dad and ask for a couple grand loan. Never done it before, felt like such a little kid, lol. But he put it in straight away, just went and brought food, lol. Realise how important it is when you haven't had much for a while.

Busiest time of the year, i remember in pest control everyone wanted it done right before xmas then you have a quiet period after you dont hear from anyone  Bloody builders man, nothing worse than waiting for them to pay, they usually like waiting for the whole job to be completed before they will pay you, your part might take a week and theirs another 3 months work, had a few do it to me when i had my business, had to change to 6 week accounts to survive. It especially sux when they are like that and give you a shit ton of work, basically stop any other money coming in and force you to wait for theirs. Had a few wet seasons i had to borrow from the parents, dad's cool but never asking mum again

This weather is bizarre.. they said it might snow tomorrow.. wtf? I think I'm still in Australia..
