Rascio - It's Growing!

I kinda like the idea of having a night time and day time smoke on hand ...

Out of the three going now, I'm just hoping to get something worth smoking.

Afghan Kush - 28d

nite nite ladies

Looking good Rascio. :passitleft: Each one a complete individual. You have a nice balance going there.

Poor little Brazilian (25d) is showing further necrosis from hot and or dry stress I think. I feel she was healthier when I was running lights with the tent door shut, and is now suffering more from dryness, than heat.

The above was taken this afternoon, the next was yesterday morning when I had a quick look before lights off.

The Kush, on the other hand, appears to be thriving.

Marks sense that the Afghani strain does well when hot and dry, and the Amazon strain fares poorly.

And the Silver Haze (15d) seems to be just tolerating things.

Thinking of making the Brazilian plant a coffee table plant again under a few cfls. Might not grow much but will have higher chance of surviving the 2-3 weeks it'll take to get my tent climate sorted.

In last 2 days lights on temps have been 83-89 °F. Humidity 25-38%.

I think you have a defeciency on the brazilian girl. Heat or light stress will usually present on the upper leaves. That looks more like a magnesium and/or phosphorous issue. The top looks healthy. I would feed her veg nutes with a splash of epsom salts or other mag suppliment if I were really worried, but I think as she is fed and repotted she should be just fine.

If it gets worse I would worry, otherwise, just feed her. All plants are differerent. Some are hungrier and need different care than others.

They are really looking good. Don't do anything drastic. Let them grow themselves :thumb:

I know you will figure it out Ras

Too late tp stop me from pruning her:

We'll see how she looks in a couple hours after lights go back on. Cheers :peace::passitleft:

Yeah, once the leaf is not green and processing any light, trim it off. It is not anything you did wrong. You will have plants that do this. As long as the new growth is healthy you're good. You learn in time to "read" your plants and you will dial them in. These are very forgiving plants.

She showed signs that leaves were still dying, so I'm trying a little Epsom salt.

I just put a little less than a teaspoon in a few ounces of hot water, then added that to about a pint of room temp. tap water. I also added a few ml.of Growth Energy.

It makes sense that the soil is running lean. This is not a DBHBB soil grow, even though I am using the same inputs. The soil I am using hasn't had time to establish the living systems required to exploit the rock powders. At least that's my best guess. The hot and dry tent conditions aren't helping the soil biota either.

I'll get this sorted out in no time. I am determined and I am learning quickly.

So for now I will try to supplement gently, as required. In a few weeks my kit soil will be ready and I will upcan to 7 gal. Smart Pots. At that time my tent environment should be in much better shape. Shortly after that I will be starting some DBHBB plants according to instructions. Maybe I'll germinate some or all of my Silver Haze seeds, or maybe I'll take cuttings from one of these three.

Either way I'm having too much fun to regret waiting til my soil was ready.

location, location, location!

Im confident you'll get her sorted. :thumb:

Howre the other gals lookin? :blunt:

I moved the plants today after a shortened lights out. They seem to be enjoying their new digs:

I dont' know why I didn't think of this earlier. My nook is in a poorly used 2'×2' spot beside the shower. Bonus features include quite a powerful exhaust fan and comfortable front row seating for one.

Ms. Brazilia (27d) seems to have stopped eating up old leaves. Keeping fingers crossed.

20150602_103558.jpg

In love with the delicate new leaves on her.

Silver Haze (17d) is holding steady:

20150602_102542.jpg

And last but not least, Afghan Kush (32d), before:

and after a little training with twine.

The strongest leader took to the bending placidly, and is now in fourth place. Its partner is being stubborn. Been staring at it for two small doobies now wondering whether to tighten the existing string or tie a second string more distal. What a wonderful way to enjoy an afternoon.:peace::straightface::blunt:

Envoronment steady now at 86°F, 35% :woohoo:

So Ms. Brazil Amazonia continues to be a whinging little ...

20150603_035547.jpg

20150603_035530.jpg

Clearly she is missing something.

Consider the Kush, just 5 days older and probably 10 × the mass of healthy looking tissue above the soil, having had basically the same inputs

20150603_045434.jpg

is it reasonable to conclude that the Kush has hooked up with a soil food web, and that the Brazilian's soil, or it's connections, are out of kilter?

Decided to attempt to give the microbes another kick start with Roots and Tea and Transplant from the kit.:peace::blunt:

I think your plants look pretty nice, even your problem child. I wish I had a suggestion, but I dont. Your kickstart tea sounds like a good plan to me.

Good luck with her.

I have to wonder just how comfy that front row seat actually is. lol

Look at all you're learning Rascio. It was obviously a smart idea to get a jump start and get conditioned to what to do and what to look for. I think your Kush is bigger simply because it's probably a more vigorous grower. Not that I know what I'm talking about, it's just an instinctive guess.

I would have to agree with you - smoking a couple doobies while watching the plants grow is an excellent way to wile away an afternoon. :passitleft:
