Rascio - It's Growing!

My little garden is growing well, despite temps steady in the 88-93 range.

I've opened up the center of the Kush (37d) pretty wide. Lots of new growth.

I think i'll take off a few fan leaves shading the new growth, then just sit back for a while and see what happens. The only option that's off the table is a little christmas tree. I won't be upcanning to 7 gal. smart pots til my kit soil is ready, jun 21. I have a feeling it will be beastly by then.

I really think my Brazilian (31d) has hooked up to the soil ecology. The necrosis has slowed or stopped! :woohoo::party::woohoo:

I was really concerned shortly after my last update. The new leaves were starting to be paler and sickly looking. I'm so happy it's starting to find what it's been missing.

And the Silver Haze (21d) is really taking off.

20150607_202836.jpg

Significant stretch in the last 3 days.

Destroyer is easy to grow. :cheesygrinsmiley: The Desfrans you're seeing now are the wild ones.

And nice choice on the Banghi Haze. Ace's Malawi is apparently an excellent strain. They cross it with a lot of stuff. Nexus from Eva was also really well behaved, and as it's cured in the jar it gained some strength - a very nice clean sativa buzz. I like it jus' fine. :blunt:

The other great use for autos is outdoors in northern climates. If I had a place in the country, I'd be growing dozens of them behind the barn, y'know? :cheesygrinsmiley:

I still have some time. Some incredible genetics out there to try. But the destroyer grow will be soon.

Yeah a place in the country. when I make that move I hope I'm smart enough to choose a place with a very long growing season. . .

Cheers all and thanks for reading. I don't know what I'd do without someone to talk about growing cannabis. There are exactly two people who know what I'm doing, and even when I visit I often don't have a chance because other people are around. I find my thought keep wandering back to my little garden, and the gardens of other 420 growers . . .:peace::passitleft:

True for so many of us. :high-five:

Ala "Fight Club" ... The first rule of cannabis cultivation is ... don't talk about cannabis cultivation. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The Brazilian does look like it's hooked up now. I don't know what that was. It looks like thirst - dry hot air/breeze/dry soil - but you'd think a tropical rainforest strain could handle heat, so ... dunno. Maybe it was just a hot patch of soil that found its way into that pot.

Yeah, and at my job there are a lot of clients who would be very interested in conversation about growing. . .

I'm surprised these plants are doing so well, really. They started in Promix potting soil in the solo cups, then when I went to the one gallons, I robbed my kit soil bin, which had only been brewing a few days. Hope Doc doesnt see me abusing his kit :shhh: Anyhow, these plants are all growing in soil which is still brewing. I know it's not recommended, and I will get much better results when I start plants in properly prepared soil. Still, it's kinda cool that the roots are in there "cooking" with all the rest of the microbes and magic.

The Kush after removing some shade leaves from the center.

Looking pretty in green.

Hahaha! How funny is it that this never occurred to me as the root of my 420 Magazine addiction? I read this and started laughing. I carry this community under my arm all day long. It's bordering on an obsession how fascinated I am with all these gardens. I'm subscribed to waaaay too many threads. :laughtwo:

So anyhow, things still chugging along.
The Silver Haze (27d) is starting to bulk up

And the Afghanistan Kush (43d) is going triffid on me

We don't talk much about Brazil Amazonia (37d)

It was returning to health, but took some steps back. There was a few hours of hot and dry that really seemed to do it in. Pretty much emotionally detatched from it. Wh knows, maybe It will survive until my soil Is ready and thrive when I transplant *shrug*

Ordering fan and filter his weekend.

Happy Growing :peace::passitleft:

The fan and filter will change everything for the better. You won't regret the investment one bit. :high-five:

I know that's girl like that I the room can put a damper on your emotional connection with her. But remember, she's not done yet. Anything could happen and she'll bounce back. She relies on you're moral support and constant attention.

Don't let her get the best of you. Keep your head up and continue smiling! It's the best medicine!

Hi Rascio, the Brazilian girl looks like it's deficient of something. Is she in straight Promix? Been fed well? Some plants are more hungry than others. Her main tip looks healthy. Were it me I would be tempted to give her a heavy feeding with a CalMag or epsom salts hit to it. It it's hungry, it will come alive. If not, it will burn up and you have room to pop another bean :)

The Silver Haze is beautiful! :thumb:

Magnesium could be an issue... it could also be unhappy in the hot and dry. The amazonian rainforest is notoriously humid.. I would try adding some open baking trays of water.. Or hang a wet towel or two. If you have a hygrometer, whats your average rh? I would follow GG's advice, and i would also try to get my humidity up to at least 50-60%

Didn't realize how many spelling mistakes were in this comment. My apologies. That's embarrassing.

Thank you. Have a Can33 filter on the way. :high-five: The fan I wanted couldn't be squeezed in this month's budget. I'll be picking up a cheap fan and some flexible ducting etc locally to make do for now.

Unlike most set ups ive seen, I'm planning to keep the fan/filter outside of the tent. Its a tiny tent and I need to keep total pull down time under 2 minutes.

Hehe, don't worry, she's not bringing me down. I'd love to see her bounce back, just not counting on it.

Yeah, it isn't a happy camper, thats for sure. Two things keep me returning to my crappy environment as a working theory though.

1. The Brazilian is in the same soil and has received the same inputs as my healthy looking plants. Dunno if strain appetite differences account for such different results. The Kush is only now showing possible signs that the pot is running out of fuel, and its probably 20× the weight of the Brazilian. I did give it some Epsoms a while ago, and it did seem to help, but that coincided with a period where temp/humidity were less spiky.
2. I've noticed two serious downturns in health and vigour, and both times followed several hours of extreme condituons - 90+ °F and <25% RH. I know you said light stress tends to show on upper leaves first, but what about hot/dry? The plant didnt seem to mind a few days in which it was still as hot, but not so dry.

Thinking of popping a couple more silver haze seeds in any case. As far as I know there could be three dudes living in my bathroom ...

Cheers all! :peace::passitleft:

My little plants seem to have fared well in seclusion in a 27 gal. tote today. Had some building maintenance folks in my little apartment.

The top of the Silver Haze (31d) got squished just a little bit. I have to start thinking about how I plan to limit this one's height.

My tent is only 4'w×2'd×5'h, so 60" - 16" (light to canopy) - ~6" (roof to lower surface of light) - 9" (height of 7 gal. cloth pot) = 29" is about all I have to play with from soil to canopy.

20150617_155853.jpg

Its only 9" tall now, but I think it will just keep shooting straight up ...

20150617_155813.jpg

Thinking of topping or supercropping 3-4 nodes from the top. I'll be transplanting to 7 gal cloth pots of kit soil soon too. So maybe it would be best to let them settle into new pots and top or train later ... hmmm.

Very pleased with the Kush (47d). The growth in the center is starting to catch the 4 leaders.

And things are looking slightly better for my cranky little Brazilian (41d)
