Rascio - It's Growing!

I can't see the entire plant, but I think I'd leave the ones by your thumb. I look at it in terms of penetration. I don't want a canopy more than 18 inches deep, and my experience is that the lower stuff just doesn't get enough light to mature properly.

So, sorta decide how deep you want the canopy to be, and trim off anything below that - not necessarily branches, but take the budsites off.

Sound spot on Gray....:thumb:

Didnt trim much from silver haze after all. Just ccleaned up the bottom a bit.

The branches of this one are much thicker than the Kush. The whole plant seems to be more in tune with my desire for big stinky buds.

Well, that's an interesting thought. I wonder how many you could get to thrive in a 15 gallon? :hmmmm:

Another time Susan. Learn some bonsai skills first.

Glad you found some, JB, and welcome! :welcome:

They're ready for a drench .... think I may wait till next time for cat drench.

Really been looking forward to this phase of the grow. Seems to me that the abrupt change from ionic [edit: er, anionic I mean] nitrogen feeding to cationic is what sets Doc's method apart.

So much of the methodology:
living and organic control of nutrient supply,
a feeding regimen that provides infrastructure to optimize soil food web associations,
Soil structure and composition that promotes surface electrochemical exchanges,
Everything is waiting for this trigger!

Gonna pull it in a couple days, when I have some days off to watch. They continue to astonish. I just watch and follow instructions (More or less), and try and wrap my mind and whatever else I can muster to give me a feeling of whats going on.

How exciting is that? Prett f'n exciting I say.

Cheers! :peace::passitleft:

I like the way you put that, Rascio - I never really thought of it that way, but you're right - it is a sort of wound up coil that we let go. :cheesygrinsmiley: In fact, I'd like to find the biochemistry behind loading the cation receptors before pulling the trigger. In my 6 gallon pots, I usually run out of oomph before I go back to Energy.

Yours are looking very good! :thumb:

^That's always been my method. It's just crazy easy, and all along, you have the security of knowing your soil is right. Just watch and follow directions. :slide:

I'm forever astonished at how I turn around and someone's plants are all grown up! Wow Rascio, already to the CAT. Where did the time go? I really appreciate the way your mind works and the way you tie things up so neatly. I'm glad I stopped by on my way to bed.

So, I just gave them their first feeding of 'cationic root drench', 7 ml each. Not thoroughly drenched, just ~1 gal each. They'll probably take another gallon when I give them som tea water later.

Fifteen days less veg than the Kush, but I think she'll be the star of this grow. The buds seem poised to take on weight, and the stalks seem ready to support them.

Dunno if the buds will fill out along those internodal spaces or not. If they do I better start staking, cuz a lot of the branches are a bit thin, though strong.

Thanks for looking!

Absolutely beautiful!

I can positively assure you that those buds will be getting bigger. In the last couple weeks you will be floored at how much size they pack on. It's nice to have the journal to reflect and take notice.

You're doing a fantastic job with her. Can't wait to see her finish! :thumb:

I just got caught up on your journal, Rascio.

And all I can say is Wow. Just wow. Such pretty plants.

I've been counting my blessings that I've been able to grow some reasonably healthy plants despite atrocious environmental conditions.

I've been quiet about temps and humidity for the last ten pages or so. Mainly because I didnt want to be that guy who moans about problems with known and obvious solutions.

Now I have my Östberg fan:party::slide: and its a thing of beauty.

Flawlessly powder coated, assembled, tested, and balanced.

No I don't work for them. I bitch enough about poor quality manufacturing though, that when I hold something like this, I must gush a little to retain balance.

Will be hooking it up tonight. A little concerned about noise. I'll have to test whether it can be heard in the hallway.

Definitely need to pick up a whatchamacallit to run it at less than full speed today. Ill check the thrift store first for something appropriate.

Anyhow, lets see what happens to temperatures. Sadly, my lights on temps have been typically between 88 and 98° F. Extremes of up to 114 have happened several times. When its hot out, and Im not home for lights on or off to open flaps, its been over 100° in there for at least a few hours 4-5 days/week. I think this beauty is up to the challenge.

Next up, humidity. Its been in the 20's with lights on, 20-50 lights off. Should be able to rig up a small evaporator that will give me pretty good climate control (as long as outside air stays dry).

I had the same reaction when I unpacked my Ostberg. It's a stunning piece of mechanical wonder, isn't it? Mine runs super quiet, but I have it set at between 79-89% max. Do pick up the speed adjuster.

I love mine. Unnaturally so I think. :laughtwo:

Fan installed temporarily. It sucks a treat. Canopy conditions now around 83°F, 30% R.H. Not going to get much better than that with room temp around 79.

Happy!

Been thinking of different directions I may go after these two are done.

I really like the idea of having a mother plant supplying clones of a select range of strains. As soon as I ran across that idea
(here at :420:)

I thought it would be a great way to keep a source for the strains I like.

I wonder if one of my two plants in flower would make a good multi-strain bonzai mother after this.

I wonder if it would be better to grow the mother plant for that purpose, and never let her flower.

I think the Haze has a stronger root system than the Kush.

Maybe I'll try both. Attempt to graft a Haze cutting to the Kush's revegged main stem, and attempt to graft a Kush cutting to the Haze"s revegged stem.

I've seen it done with apple trees, and I'm guessing its easier with cannabis. Aren't most things easier with cannabis.

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.
