Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Dog

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

I feel much better about leaving an outdoor grow. They can go for days or even weeks without attention. Indoors, not so much. We like to travel in the winter since it gets cold here. We are perfectly happy to hang out around our place in the summer. I used to vacation to places like this, so I'm content with a grow, a beer, a swim and my music. :yahoo:

So true Con, about the strains, alot of people try strains that don't finish in their time frame and they end up with a bunch of mid's as I call it. Weed that could've used another week or two to really be all that it can be. You can't beat mother nature for great weed. Given you get the right strains for your your area. But I do enjoy indoor your not limited in flowering times or molds. Well hopefully molds.

At least I knew when I planted them, they are not going to finish. Zamaldelica and Golden Tiger take FOREVER to finish.

Well you never know Major. If you have the right conditions and your plants have been vegging long they can be triggered into flowering just when they should and they will finish in reasonable timeframe. Also what is 16 werks of flowering indoor becomes 10 weeks outdoor.

Yep almost all noob outdoorers do this mistake. Outdoor you have no control of weather if you don't grow in a greenhouse or move pots to force flower earlier... actually force flowered weed is the best out there I think, although too high temps can also cut your potential short, so indoor wins for creating optimal environment. However there are a lot of varieties that will never reach their potential indoor for genetic reasons. Some won't respond as well to HPS or LED as to the sun, some will need much higher RH and some just have to veg for longer time than they do indoor to get to their top level. Hmm you know in the 90s I've been smoking a real mix: Dutch and German hydro skunks, hash from Morocco and Afghanistan, UK Cheese in London and a lot of these English varieties, hazes, skunks, hybrids of many sorts grown outdoor by my friends and I also tried weed in Holland... but the best I smoked was always grown outdoor, it had longer and more pleasant high, there was little comedown and it came through with character that was rarely feelable in indoor bud. Leaving taste aside as many growers didn't have a clue how to shoot well for it back then I've been always looking for outdoor weed cause of that... finding very little cause almost everything was an indoor import or domestic indoor production :laughtwo::tokin:

That's why I'm slightly bummed out by this indoor hype on your side of the pond, which is really a thing I guess cause people just do not know what a good outdoor produce is. I mean I don't blame folks who pump up their grows to make more quantity and exchange that for hard cash, everybody needs to make a living you know, but if you have a lot of mediocre outdoor produce on the market then the price goes down and people start looking at every outdoor bud with disdain as it's been happening in Cali so you really shit where you eat in a way. I really look froward to international exchange, well it's not the time yet but think how it might evolve if the movement starts making more cracks everywhere. Then we could export outdoor stuff from Nepal, Malawi, Lebanon, Thailand and Colombia and then people would really start understanding what terroir for cannabis means :passitleft:

Hey Conradino! :ciao:

Your plants are looking plump and juicy as usual :bravo:

Quick question on UDC - the weather turned properly hot about 10 days ago and the plant is growing astonishingly fast now but has not shown sex. If it grows one more foot tall, I will have to move her/him to Narnia to keep it hidden. She/he is at day 49 - the question is do you recall at about what stage your many UDC's showed sex? And does it look like a boy or girl to your experienced eyes? Also it doesn't look like the pot its in is going to cut it and I might have to put it in a larger pot but will only repot if it's a girl.

If I move it to Narnia now and it shows sex while I am away all my girls might get knocked up ( I had planned to pollinate a couple of lower branches if it turned out male but in a controlled manner rather than letting it loose amongst my girls.....)

High of 30C here today hope the heat is less oppressive where you are. :Namaste:

Mine almost all showed sex at this point, but yours is close too. Usually gals pop their preflowers earlier, so stay on the top of it if you don't see any yet. UD takes any temperature there is, it can stay without water for two weeks when grown in the ground. And it really looks like Chem pheno due to indica leaves, should branch out quickly now.

yours were way nicer too..

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Hats off to you outdoor growers!! :) Indoor, once you get the environment dialed in or close to 100% as possible, your plants will thrive. Outdoors, you have more variables, many are not easily 'adjustable', especially if a guerrilla grow. My current plants in the woods are doing ok-well; not great. I had to bring in water and some DBHB Kit ingredients. They might not had survived if i didnt...
insects, animals, weather, etc..

great, fun stuff :)

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Oh yeah it's hard work, doc. People think it's about putting it out there and coming back when they're ready as far as gorilla growing is concerned, but if you want a top notch weed it's much more than that.

With your latitude I'd be very careful about selecting strains too. Many of the traditional southern cultivars won't be ready in time and many might not be happy with early winter either. However it's good to know you're trying outdoor, it's the ultimate school of growing :passitleft:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

One thing I do have to say about indoors, you got intense light 12 hours a day. As we know, I love outdoors the best. But I love to grow weed period. Call winter and I see empty pots and all the stems in the trash, whats next? Indoors. And with indoors I can finish them longer running strains. And keeps me busy all year. When I lived in NOR CAL I could grow till Nov 1st under mother nature. Now I got cloudy weather 50% of the plants life outdoors. Indoor does have many plus's,,,, but I don't think many indoor growers can ever get acouple pounds per plant hell 4-5 oz's in nice per plant. I'll always, knock on wood, be growing, but if I had to vote I love outdoors. Indoors seem to have better smells, I think outdoor plants tend to have most of the 'smell' blow away along with the bugs, by the wind and rains.
I'm glad to hear you yanked the problematic plant out. Better to do it early rather than after she starts to look good, and infects everything else. Something to look into i use to use outdoors is polymer Superabsorbent polymer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When I was doing gorilla grows it was better to tend plants as little as possible and this stuff saved me at-least 7-8 watering's a year. Every trip to the plants was a risk. fresh trails and nosy people don't keep a patch private vary long. And come Oct, them cops aren't fools. Man I use to sweat bullets going to tend come late Sept. This stuff swells up with alot of water then slowly releases it to the soil. Helps alot if you can't get to your plants. Keepem Green

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

NCW, the polymer I've used is Hydrosource. So damn hot here it sure helps in summer heat w/ the water shortages going on too. Looks like rock salt. Besides the watering help, also helps a little w/ oxygenation through tiny bit of expansion & contraction.

Man you hit it on the nose about the late season guerrilla grow paranoia. Major anxiety. Sure don't miss those days. :passitleft:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

I went to The Sunny Spot to get gals some compost/weed tea seeing they are slightly hungry... I assume it's the wet soil that puts their root systems on hold. Sunday there was another hail with hellish rainstorm and the youngest OG got heavy beating, the rest are fine. Another UD earlier suspected to be a male is turning to be a female I think I just saw a tiny preflower but I'm quite sure of it and another is showing balls which puts the number of UD females in The Sunny Spot at 7. Yes I used the volcano method before popping the beans.

SLH is getting really big, it's been topped multiple times but she's growing very quickly and branching out nicely. ATM she's around 5'5'' so we're looking at 12 feet plant by the end of the season probably. Dodgy GTH still had some PM going but very little so I'm gonna keep plucking the leaves. However now she shows some weird deficiency at the bottom, kind of like irregular yellow bleaching in form of spots. Not an outdoor plant I keep telling myself. Well you live you grow more of them and you learn that way. UD proves to be the most hardened variety I'm growing now, these plants are not bothered with anything and they love High Brix soil.

Here are some quick snaps of SLH taken with my phone, full update will probably come after the weekend.

Hey as far as helicopters are concerned they do not pose a big danger in the north. It's the south where ‛Ndrangheta and Camorra grow huge fields so Carabinieri scout for the plants there and they do bust them. However I'm aware of the potential danger and I hide in the bush when I see any in the air. But when you consider how small my patches are, you'd have to get very low and even then the chances of spotting few plants in the sea of green is very small.

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Does the law frown hard on growing over there? What 'could' happen if a man got popped with like 20 plants?
Alot of places I've lived one didn't worry Hard about the laws. Well speaking for me ofcourse. I mean like Missouri where I moved here from, STILL has life without parole on the books for a major grow. Not that they do it alot, but it's still on the books. Some guy on face book finnaly got his life sentence cumuted and was released abit back I forget the name.

Murder OK parole, growing acouple hundred plants, why not the electric chair?.. Don't get me wrong I love the south. People are abit slower and abit backward, but is that all bad? IS come marijuana laws tho. One of the wrost states, back when I was kicking up my heels was Texas. I had a old 60 something Chevy truck with two motorcycles in the back, outside Odesa cop hit me with the lights. I was burning one at the time so I reaked to the heavens when he got me stopped. I'd killed the only dubie I had but they had me jacked and found 13 seeds and acouple stems under the floor matt. SOB's try to get me for conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance............. Carried 15 years,,, I shit. They jacked me cuz the bikes and truck belonged to some Banditos down that ways. Got locked up for 180 days. Was happy with that,,, they wanted to gie me 12 years..... Yikes.......... Young dumb days. Besides Red and White, 81 forever. Hey sorry I've been up and babbling alot lately,,,,, jk kind of but I am intresred what really happens over there if one got caught with say, 20 plants???Keepem Green

That SLH is going to be a beast Conrad. Kind of makes sense that your UDs are great outdoor plants. Raised and bred in the outdoors should should make for hardy plants. Going back and looking at your last pic update the UDs in the sunny spot are stunning. :high-five:

Ok man, so Italian law is quite complicated as far as growing goes. It's illegal to cultivate any number of psychoactive plants, and for hemp you need a license. However our constitution is a basis for personal growing, and these motions sometimes win in court. The drug law itself resolves this excluding prison sentences for personal use and growing, but prosecutor will usually charge you with intent to sell or active dealing with any amount exceeding 5 grams. I mean if they bust you and find slightly bigger amount of weed you can be charged with dealing or distribution and get 15 years. In practice growing of 10-15 plants is rarely treated by judges as something deserving prison and you can get out with parole or addiction therapy or some other bullshit, but as always it's all about the lawyer and how much you can pay to stay free or how good connections you have. But the thing with gorilla grow is that they need to bust me with plants which would need to come from a planned operation. And they are rarely that despaired, if they find the plants, which usually happens when someone is a moron or cannot keep his mouth shut, they will call the media to take pics and they will pull them out without looking for a grower if they don't have any leads for which they'd have to work a lot. Italian grows get busted usually when they're huge we're talking mafia style operation or when someone grows in one's garden or on a balcony. Well run grows have a low risk if you know how far you can go and where to stop.

So is it really that bad in the South?

Conradino, hey there...can't believe I missed this journal! Where was I when.....
Cheers man!

This SLH looks like a winner, she grew exceptionally well from the start and the only thing that was off she had lightly floppy and brittle branches for a bit but that improved with good mineral uptake. Strong musky/chronic smell already. UDs on the other hand are stable growers in veg but they explode and become wild in flowering. Chem and Boom phenos are branching out very nicely and inter nodes are perfect. These bushes started with topping cause last year they looked like that in veg.
