Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Hey Conrad,

Just got my bags of Calcium Carbonate (97% from crushed limestone), Soft Rock phosphate, and Gypsum. Screwed up and got pellets (SRP and Gyp). Off to buy a coffee grinder lol. This is never ending learning process. I'm using Mycos for the mycorrhizae. Also will add the EWC, lithothamnium, and glacial rock dust. This will be for the Venom. It will be my first attempt at High-Brix. Looking forward to learning. Hopefully you can help me along as I'm sure I'll run into some problems.

Your seedlings look awesome. Does the clover tea actually give it all the N it needs? I was under the assumption that HB didn't need much N?

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Nice mix although I'd stay off rock phosphate in the mix and use it for drenches or for top dressing in flowering. You really need very little P in soil, also cause its presence over 120 ppm totally inhibits grow of mycos.

Yep High Brix soil is low in N, K and P, and when you get to 3rd run N starts being used off, which is what my plants show, and that's why you have to boost it occasionally with N-rich ferts or liquids at least as long as they're in a pot, cause after transplant they enter carbon and nitrogen rich environment, where I fertilize very little in general.

OK, off to make some more bamboo biochar for tomorrow's outplanting!

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Thanks Conrad! Will do. Sans the rock phosphate until flower.

Do you grow your own bamboo? There are a couple varieties that will grow in the PNW. Might need to plant some in front of the neighbors window lol. Suburb living is a real pain at times.

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Yep I do, I have a little forest here

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Well then it's settled! Planting some bamboo on the fence line in a couple months. Tired of them having a view into my back yard anyways. I'm a good neighbor but like my privacy.

Thanks Conrad!

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Just remember that it spreads via runner root, so it can overtake your yard in 2-3 yrs. You're gonna have to get your hands around it or make a cement or stone barrier where you want it contained that goes 1-2 feet down the ground.

I was going to bury a couple troughs they're selling at Costco. They're a couple feet deep 2x5 depth width. My sister did it so I was just going to copy her. Thanks for the warning, I never would have known that.

Actually it's a great way to loosen the soil if it's heavy in clay or rocks, and then it's perfect for growing weed :bong:

I've just come back from the field, plants are fine only UD suffered more insect damage but it will be ok as soon as it grows new shoots. These were all topped and it slowed them down, but after a week outside I can say they are gonna definitely pull through.

Interesting thing is it's 3rd time in a row that I put a plant in the same spot, and it gets chewed on. Before I had F1 UD that got eaten almost to the bone, and before that Pakistan Chitral Kush that had only one node left

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Hmm I've just checked my old journal, and this time last year I had only two plants mature like the ones I have now, and I didn't even start outplanting, while now I'm in the middle. Good thing I guess :bong:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

We grow some Phyllostachys Nigra (black bamboo) in Oregon. It has remained well behaved so far, but it can go crazy and get up to 35' tall.

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Yep crazy plant

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

That's ALOT of biochar...

Oh yeah a lot, but bamboo is a wonderful and renewable resource, which can be planted all year, will grow everywhere without fertilizers and will produce abundant lot of stalks and leaves that can be turned into biochar, paper, furniture whatever. It's very similar to cannabis in this regard :thumb:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Yeah I remember you being based in Florida or Hawaii :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

That's an overwhelming majority. Obviously stoners love bamboo lol. I had no idea.

Has anyone here ever been to the ancient bamboo forest on Maui? It's so dense you can barely see while walking the path in the middle of the day. The sounds of all the bamboo knocking together from the wind is majestic.

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

Hmm I'd love to make a trip to Hawaii after Cali, but it's not gonna happen anytime soon unfortunately. This forest sounds amazing though, and if they still grow this great Hawaiian weed there I'm gonna find something to do  :bong:

Re: Ramble In The Jungle Feat - OG Kush - Ultra Dog - Ghost Train Haze & Colombian Do

It's one of the most unique ecosystems I've ever seen. If you take the full 3 mile hike you get rewarded with a beautiful waterfall. You have to take the road to Hanah to get there which has something like 30 1 lane bridges. Is nerve racking and probably the closest I've ever been to driving in a third world country, but it is so worth it. When you finally hit the town, there's a family that sells the best family style Hawaiian BBQ on the island. It's some covered picnic benches in their front yard lol.

I'm in love with Hawaii, we go every chance we get and in fact we'll be going this year back to Maui. Snorkeling and sushi every day lol!
