Radogast's Hi-Brix Basement Grow - New Location - New Soil - New Experiences

I've been busy with life and traveling lately. I missed the harvest. Looks great from here.

Have you tried removing the glass lenses from some of the cobs? That was what I thought was working the best before I shut mine down. Just use the reflector and the retaining ring with the four screws. It seemed to give a better light spread and the intensity was still good. I'm curious if you will see the same thing.

I'll put that on my todo: list.

I'm painting the living room, so it might be awhile.

You are asking the wrong guy here! All I know is that people here say use it fresh or freeze it - freeze it with uncooked rice to keep it as dry as possible and it is good for 2-3 months.

As far as I know, pollen is like sperm, it only takes one. Since cannabis flowers have many pistils, I imagine it is like corn flowers - one bit of pollen on a pistil equals one kernel of corn or one seed of cannabis.

Thanx brotha im guna take some hindu kush pollen n go spread it on my black domina tht got broke in half from the wind and is now stunted so I figured since she won't give much of a yield might as well make her my seed run plant plus she is already outside so I dnt have 2 much to worry bout her infecting my inside girls

You have plenty of pollen there. It's one bit of pollen and one pistol like you said Rad. How far along is your girl? You'll want 4 weeks at the very least for seeds to develope.

You know, from the right perspective, that photo could be of a big bud tip held up against the sky (with some pollen cloud).

I fully thought it was when scrolling through the index!

..

Rad, congrats on a nice harvest. Thanks for a great journal. :-)

Thank you.

If I haven't said it before Welcome to 420 and feel free to chime right in - long rambling stories appreciated.

If I have said it before :welcome: to :420:

and CLASH - BOOM in the middle of typing above, there was a crash of lighting/thunder that sounded like someone dropped a pallet of corrugated tin roofing in my kitchen! We've had 4.5 hours of lighting flashes at about 1 per second, but the house walls are thick and great at blocking sound, so I've been feeling the thunder more than hearing it. Dang, that was a full on jump scare

Done with the reveg attempt

My poor little Lilly clone, 2 months old, stalled about a month ago, and is now in flower in the veg room.

20170920_145706-1.jpg

I'm tired of flowering in the veg area, and I partially blame Bubba's Gift which has been revegging for 143 days.

I chopped off all the buds which I should have harvested and smoked 4 months ago.

20170920_145524-1.jpg

She had actually started to reveg about 6 weeks ago, but then she put on new buds and new foxtail buds out of dried old buds.

20170921_132624-1.jpg

The gnarly girl might have 6-8 grams of buds at harvest.

20170921_132609-1.jpg

I tossed her into a space on top of cooking soil in the flower area

20170920_145538-1.jpg

I snagged a clone of Bubba's Gift while she was putting out reveg leaves. The clone appears to be going into flower, but it has stayed alive in soil for 20 days so we will see if she grows up or not.

Brix Foliar Day

Last in, first out is Haze x Kali China (13 days)

20170921_132838.jpg

Haze x Kali China stretched from 19" to 30" in her first 13 days under flowering lights

20170921_132755.jpg

AK47 XTRM (20 days) 12" to 16" Tall (4" stretch after setting buds in veg area)

20170921_135005-1.jpg

20170921_135020-1.jpg

Since AK47 started flowering in the veg area, this one is 30+ days into flower

20170921_135028-1.jpg

I'm hoping for a half ounce.

20170921_135040-1.jpg

Borderliner XTRM (37 days) 16" tall - no stretch

20170921_134800-1.jpg

Another half ounce plant that started flowering in veg

Amherst Sour Diesel (40 days)

20170921_133213-1.jpg

She entered the room at 15" high with buds almost set and has remained at 15" high

20170921_133225.jpg

Her largest cola is pretty, but ...

20170921_133234-1.jpg

The Cola is pretty small and near ripe.

20170921_133307-1.jpg

The other buds are even smaller.

20170921_133251-1.jpg

Carnival (48 days) 44"tall (16" coming in + 28" of stretch)

20170921_133657-1.jpg

She has 5 main colas - a bit fluffy

20170921_133709.jpg

Four Carnival colas this size

20170921_133740-1.jpg

One Carnival cola this size

Ace Mix (53 days) - She doesn't want to be moved, so I sprayed and photographed in place under the HPS.

Atleast you have some big girls in there flowering! that Carnival should give you enough to keep the family in supply for a week or two :laughtwo: It is so odd that things started flowering in veg for you! I hope you get things sorted and you have enough plants to fill the flow.

I didn't have a reduction in hours, but I did have a reduction in intensity of veg lights when bulbs burned out. That was enough to trigger flower, but I was really hoping it would just be a hiccup when the light intensity went back up. I honestly don't know if the Bubba's Gift reveg 'infected' the veg girls with flowering hormones, but if I try another post harvest reveg it will be in a dedicated space.

I have 2 good sized girls in veg that are set to go into flower after my harvests in in 10 days? and 25? days, so my next 2 months of harvests arent bad. Lilly clone was supposed to be after that, but she is basically worthless unless she does a quick reveg. If I had a full veg room I'd toss her today. After Lilly, I have a seedling and 3 clones, two of which I hope to have ready in 45 -60 days, and two more in 60 to 90 days. so things aren't as off balance as they feel :)

My optimum is 6 in early veg and 3 in late veg. I'm currently at 4 in early veg. 2 in late veg, and 1 in limbo. Not optimum, but do-able.

2 bulb failures, a cloner failure, and just plain forgetting to take clones doesn't happen every month - but compared to a spider mite infestation, I don't mind.

I am glad things are not as bad as they seem. I have found it is sometimes better to have more plants in veg than you will truly use or than you feel you will use. I always hit a point where I have empty flower space due to harvests lining up more so than I anticipate. That is the issue with running multiple strains with various degrees of vigor in veg and varying flowering times in flower. If I could just run plants with 8-10 week flower times it would be easier but with plants that take up to 14+ weeks to finish it makes it hard. I have been trying to get new genetics in the line up while weeding out under performers and right now I have 3 open flowering spaces, I could merge my two flower tents but it would be a tight fit and I have a big girl in veg that has enough canopy to go into flower but not enough roots. SO I will light floor space for a bit as I get caught up. I always hit a point in my cycle where there is either too many plants to bloom or not enough. Oh well there are worse issues to have for sure.

Thanks. Whatever the pain of running a mix of 7 week and 12+ week flowering strains in a perpetual, for me, it's a heck of a lot better than running a whole batch of 12+ week flowering girls all at once. Or a batch of 7 week and 12+ week strains leaving half the room empty for 5 weeks. Any time you mix flowering times you are likely to have empty spaces in the flower room. Groeing in mixed batches, that empty space is guaranteed every time.

All that waiting while a batch is flowering, all that harvesting at once. For outside, growing in batches is your only choice, for indoors, especially since flowering doesn't engage me, I much prefer a perpetual grow.

I enjoy perpetual growing, but do get frustrated at times when things do not work as planned. i had a buddy that ran all hydro and only ever flowered fro 8 weeks no matter what. He had one flower room with three lights all about a month apart. He had a real perpetual that ran like clock work and he had great success with it. I tried to emulate it when I first went perpetual and soon realized that running most strains in Doc's gear took me longer than 8 weeks to finish. Sure I could cut everything at 8 weeks but most everything would not be mature. I took a Blue Cheese down about 2 weeks ago and I was shocked to see it had finished in 8 weeks. Most everything I do is 9-12 weeks anyways. The Shackzilla I have been running takes 14 to 15 weeks and my BubbleGum is 12-14 depending on how she feels that round.
