Radogast's Hi-Brix Basement Grow - New Location - New Soil - New Experiences

Congrats on another harvest. Looks like a good yield. :Namaste:

I gotta agree - that's a very nice harvest. :bravo:

Thanks folks.

I might have rushed the harvest by a day or two, but it seems justified. The family has been smoking the CBD Critical Cure, which is a nice smoke and great for relaxing the body, but is light on that special something (THC? Terpenes?) that relaxes the mind and makes one feel happy.

This morning the family shared a bowl of fresh dehydrated Lilly. There was a collective sigh in the room; 'Welcome back, my old friend.'

Nice harvest Rad! :thumb: I think you made the right choice flowering the haze x kali china first. She looks like she is ready to explode :)

Thanks again. I had a family volunteer who trimmed this harvest. That was nice :)

Haze x Kali China has been chomping at the bit. It was a forgone conclusion which of the two would make it into flower first, I just wanted to show off my pretty Guawi too :)

I may have made a mistake releasing HxKC from her restraints. I've been removing them on the way into flower, mostly to remove the clutter in the pot for easy of watering. I've never had one spring back up like that. Should I wire her branches back down?

You may want to strap her back down. It is hard saying what to expect but if she is a stretcher you will probably be happy having the restraints on her

Thank you.

Today I strapped her back down (with one wire)

Looking good in here. I can't say that I blame you on wanting to show your guawi off. She is a purdy one. She's going to turn into a beast when she starts growing. Probably not nearly as much as your Haze x Kali China though. I have a feeling you're going to have a giant when she moves her way to the back of your flower room in a couple of months.

Keep it up!

Radogast,
Do you turn down your cobs to take pictures?

Nope. But the lenses are 90 degree and 135 degree, so I move the phone up out of the focussed beam of light.

p.s. I just have to mention this. As I was contemplating spellcheck on the word focused, the plaster let loose from the ceiling under the main hall stairs and landed on the other end and middle of the sofa where I was sitting - kerthump.

It looks like it was the original 121 year old plaster. I chipped away the remaining ceiling plaster in that section, broom and dust panned up most of the plaster, and am beating out the sofa pillows (taking a break.) Environmental cleanup is underway and it's not a big disaster especially compared to a hurricane.

The bizarre thing is that about 4 hours before I was standing in the kitchen getting ready to close the garage door which I had opened 1/2 hour before. As I was in the kitchen there was a kerchunk, A shelf in the garage holding a bunch of molding pieces collapsed, landing on lumber pieces below. It was a 5 minute emergency cleanup job and nothing was damaged (except the shelf.) It was an odd enough thing to happen that I discussed it with a wife and visiting friend but couldn't decide what signal if anything a garage shelf collapse might be.

The wife came up with a phrase to describe both: 'home wrecker.' The universe has been given notice. There will be noone outside the family welcome in the house tonight and I've got an eye out for anyone else that might fit the name home wrecker.

I'll come back later and post my little update for today.

They have both been veggig since early June , June 5 and June 7 . My seedlings grow slowly, so that is about average for me. It might speed up now that I replaced the flourescent tubes on my veg lights.

Update on my day

I recycled Lily's soil today- added 2 liters of Earth Worm Castings, so now she 'cooks' in a tote for a month. I'm not sure why she cooks, it's just earthworm castings.

Hand washed Lily's 7 gallon fabric pot and hung it to drip dry

It was time to transplant Carnival into a large pot. I've been 'cooking' soil in single batches. During transplant I use up most of the soil in the bin. After use, the remaining gallon + in the tote tends to dry out before use. So I did something a little different and used the extra soil to fill up 1 gallon plastic pots. It's easier to keep moist in the small pots and they are ready for use. We'll see if it works out as expected.

Clone of a clone Carnival was promoted into a 7 gallon pot today

CBD Critical cure doesn't meet the household demand for high THC, so I loaded up the Lily popcorn in the dehydrator trays for 5.5 hours. Yielded 38 grams. They seem over dried compared to 4 hours. Fully loaded, I think the 5 trays could hold 1/2 oz each. I'm going for a slow dry and cure of the larger buds. I'm waiting for feedback on the quality. It's better than oven dry when we can't wait a few days.

CBD Critical cure clone cutting was not increasing root length and the leaf is withering. It' a clone from late in flower.

I think we've seem the last of my CBD CC Sativa pheno.I put it in soil as a last ditch effort to grow.

5 hours to clean up after the ceiling dumped 10 gallons of plaster on our sofa! ugh.

We have a friend who is the local plaster master, semi-retired, coming over to see what he thinks about the rest of the plaster in the house.

When you recycle your soil and re-cook it you are supposed to add more amendment and water as well as the EWC. By doing this you are reusing the soil but adding back any of the goodies that have been depleted. If it is the first time that soil has been recooked you can use the same amendment as the first time. If it has been used twice you should use third run amendment.

Thanks. I have read and re-read Doc Buds directions, and the most recent version agrees with what you are telling me ==>In The Lab With Doc Bud

I guess I get to buy some 3rd run amendment - anyone know how much 3rd run amendment is used per 7 gallons of soil? I might as well order 3-4 lbs of it.
