Radogast's Hi-Brix Basement Grow - New Location - New Soil - New Experiences

Hey Radogast! You are doing great job, I like the structure you made with your plants, neat bushes. You surely keep them happy! Cheers! :thumb:  :Namaste:

Hey there Rad - great selection of genetics there... All very healthy plants and you should have your hands full watering in the very near future... Lots of big healthy plants. Great job buddy! :thumb:

A heads up:
I was trying to purchase some more seeds from the EU... I think they are cracking down I was un-able to purchase seeds and I tried for several hours from the usual and a few unusual suspects. Not good... I usually purchase here from the USA (we have bigger balls I guess) but I was trying for some Dark Devils ... I finally found them in Canada... and have to pay by wire transfer!! I don't know why the crackdown... but it wasn't my bank (Canadian Bank) I called them several times .. So heads up if there's some strains that you like it might be a good time to stock up.... kinda strange after all these years. Seems like all of a sudden EU banks don't want to take credit cards from the USA for seeds ... very weird.

Coming after the business with Herbies seeds - a bit worrisome.

I'm not really thinking of seed purchases, since I'll run these same clones a few times - BUT - I sure wish I'd gone with Dark Devil or anothe Auto when I started this grow - I could have had a harvest by now.

What happened with Herbies Rad? That's where I got mine almost a year ago.

This now appears as the top line on the Herbie's seeds "FAQ

WE ACCEPT PAYMENTS BY CASH OR UK BANK TRANSFER ONLY. PLEASE ORDER AS NORMAL AND YOU WILL RECEIVE DIRECTIONS FOR PAYMENT OPTIONS AT CHECKOUT. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY FORM OF CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS OR GIFT CARDS.

As far as I know, they have offered no explanation for the change.

According to my (weak) memory, it's been about a month. At that time they were still taking orders and making deliveries.

This month, for the first time I can remember, they are not a 420 sponsor or 420 advertisor.

As bobrown14 suggested, the UK and the EU may be cracking down on seeds.

On the other hand, in the past year, Israel and at least one province or city on Canada have legalized seed imports and exports. In the last election, California folded Marijuana into their legal system as a recognized agricultural crop, and as standardized businesses all up and down the food chain - so there may be some legal gotchas come up when people try to redistribute strains that are, in whole or in part, developped in the great state of California. California cannabis seeds may now enjoy the same legal protections as soybeans seeds. So the international trade in cannabis seeds is going to get more complicated.

As an example: What if Skunk #1 has a California owner? How does this effect the 325 strains listed on seedfinder.eu as containing Skunk #1?

There may be more news about international trade. I stopped following the 420 news boards last summer before my move to the midwest. As cannabis becomes legal, business plans need to adapt.

As cannabis becomes legal, business plans need to adapt.

It's problematic to say the least really.
As a simple stoner, I saw legalization as opening the floodgates and just not worrying about things.
Then the gov got involved.....

Seeing legalization roll out over the years has, and continues to be, a source of extreme creativity.... and not so much in a good way.

Could be card hackers have gone after the Eu seed industry. Seems an easy mark. Just like when someone targets an illegal grow. Who's gonna call the cops on a jacked plant? You count your losses and beef up security. And you thin the crowd that comes around even more! That could be our cards. One can only speculate the reasons why but it has been an issue lately. And Canada has gotten my cash as a result. And my seed selection has been changed to accommodate the seed banks availability. Time to network with other growers. I believe that within a few years, the way most growers get seeds will be from each other.

I think Underdawg is a grower to grower strain. I'd gladly grow some :)

Where are the traveling Dead Heads when we need 'em.

Tangerine Widow seed #3 is being difficult!
- The seed tail (root) appeared above the surface at an angle. It was planted with the root at a 5 o'clock position and wrapped around past midnight to emerge from the soil at the 2 o'clock position. I flipped the seed so the root was headed downward and misted the soil surface to block surface air from reaching the root. I'll give it a couple more days. I have another Tangerine Widow that has been soaking for 2 days. These are regular(non-fem,) home-crossed seeds. I hope they are worth the trouble :)

AK47 started 'praying' and lifted her leaves into the light - 2 inches upward in one day ! Her nodes have that pre-flower look of sexual maturity.

I'd sure like to see that temp up about 6 degrees and the rH to about 60......it would make a big difference.

My 1.5 gallon humidifier finally died after being purchased at GoodWill 34 months ago. Not a bad run for a used humidifier.

I set up my 4 gallon humidifier outside the veg stall and raised the humidity to 65%. The veg RH stayed at 47%, so I moved the big humidifier into the veg area.

I raised the temp 6 degrees. Humidity is at 58 with the lights on. I'll check the overnight RH tomorrow.

Right here bro!! :Namaste:

Yes I believe it will morph BACK into trading (still active actually)... similar to cannabis clubs and what not.

The beginning of the governmental (and BIG AG) control process: Control the seeds, control the market.

It's been done and done and done... Monsanto is in the game 110% already. AKA Scotts AG ... investing heavily into chems, lights, soil and logistics for Big Canna.

Big AG is ripe for the canna harvest... prolly our way into repeal of prohibition, nation (and world) wide. The almighty dollar = the only thing many folks seem to agree on.

You want the best herb: find a grower, and be a friend! (trade mark) FTW :high-five:

Ready set: Rad GROW!

"AK47 started 'praying' and lifted her leaves into the light - 2 inches upward in one day ! Her nodes have that pre-flower look of sexual maturity."

That's an observation that I'd love to hear you unwrap for us all. You are quite wonderful at unfolding thoughts and images from your experience, and I for one would be grateful for any effort you'd put forward to describe this idea.

Monsanto is making aluminium resistant crops. I wonder what geoengineers are doing with that planes of theirs. Something smells here.

Your flattery prompted me to get up off my keister (as if I sit on a satchel  ) and take some photos.
The lights were out, but I snapped a few photos. It's veg.

What I meant by Her nodes have that pre-flower look of sexual maturity." is that from 4 feet away she looked like she was putting out pre-flower pistils, but I was too lazy to check   (Also, I know AK47 is from a fem seed, and I have no girls in flower, so I'm not overly concerned about male plants in this first group of seedlings. It's low risk to be lazy :) )

From 2' away, Her nodes have streched and alternated. You can see where the buds will form on alternate sides. You can imagine the cone-shaped areas at the ends of branches that will grow tufted mounds, then flowers, then buds and colas.

Taking flash pictures at arms length in the dark. Looking for long, thread-like, pairs of pistils. I see several possibilities.

Here you see two long, wispy pairs of 'preflower' pistils at the crotch of two internodes (one half behind a leaf.) It's a girl.

Looks like they're taking off & growing fast. Healthy leaves & stalks. Nicely done! :Namaste:

I spent all day smearing joint compound on the exercise room walls and ceilings. Patching cracks and missing chunks in the concrete covered stone foundation walls, especially around the windows. Covering the gaps between ceiling and stone walls, ceiling and brick walls, brick wall and stone wall, and brick wall and wooden door frame. I applied about 20 lbs dry joint compound (4 gallons mixed.) A little ceiling touch-up and sanding and I'll be ready to paint.

I plan to install a door frame for the flowering stall in the grow room - then paint the flowering area and the exercise room in primer white. I should have the flowering stall ready in a few days.

I'm thinking I will move the two biggest girls into the flowering area and turn on one 600W HPS at 16/8. They look ready for the more intense light. In the past I have usually gone to flower at 30-36", but these plants are looking fairly good at 18-22". Once they are standing free on the floor, I can better decide when to flip the lighting schedule.
