Quix's Corner - Puddle-o-Green - NL & Bag Seed - Indoor Soil Experiment

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Great job so far on the LST - glad the diagram is useful, it's one of those things that I've seen floating around in different threads on the site, and I made it a favorite as it's a helpful one for sure. You've got it going great. Just don't get too impatient and do too much in one day, but as you're seeing you CAN do quite a bit.

I used to do slipknots just like that and they worked great, but now I use twist ties, or twist ties tied to the end of string, and I'm liking it quite a bit better - easier and quicker than the slipknots. Food for thought...

Inda has a great point on the base tiedown - just make sure what you use doesn't dig into the stalk too much.

LST is kinda fun, huh? :)

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

use it up and get a more appropriate card..."Green Dot" works great....they sell a card specifically for internet stuff, it's not anonmyous but I don't think anyone really cares. I've used Green Dot with no problems, several times in fact. Walgreens and others sell a card that is not refillable and therefore anonymous :peacetwo::surf:

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Hey Quix, sorry for the late reply my man. Yes, as long as you keep an eye on the slip knots and adjust them when they need it, squeezing the stems won't be an issue. What's cool about LSTing when the plants are young is that it doesn't take much to bend them and hold them. Loose knots around the stems will work just fine but take a little longer to tie, then you just adjust the length at the anchor point.

Also, if you want to keep the line from fraying apart, just take a lighter to the ends and then gently (but quickly) pinch the ends. Makes it way easier and keeps them together.

Talk with ya later!

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Hi Brother. Seriously LST helps. It keeps them some what low and adds many more growth points. I'll probably be doing it again soon. I do wear a mask doing it. Scares the crap out of them. :thumb:

:rofl: Hi OMM!! That's a very funny visual!! Haha, Since your face would be concealed, I GOTTA see a picture of that!!...Maybe in the front of your new journal!? lol...

Hey Q one more thing I did on my LST was at the base tie off I put some cardboard to cushion the stalk from the twine. I didn't do this on my first attempt at LST and the string cut into the stalk. The plant turned out to be a male so it was all good.

Hey Inda! Thanks for the tip, I did consider that, and noticed that it looked as though it may start cutting into them, so far I just loosen and adjust the ties every day, only takes a few minutes. If it gets worse I'll have to think about putting something like that in there though...Hope all is well, see ya soon....:peace:

Your girls seem to like some bondage. That along with the sweet nothings you are whispering to them they are growing up so fast:rofl:

Haha, the only thing I whispered to these girls is what I'd have done to them if they didn't act right like the 2 I tried to grow before them!!

I didn't even buy it yet, guess I dodged that bullet!

No worries on the late reply bro!! And yes, I'm all about the lighter on the ends already!! I got lazy n didnt do it to all of them, but yeah, nobody likes fuzzies in their herb, unless its trichs!!

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

Hey Quix! :ganjamon:

If you haven't finished the LST yet. Give them some water, wait an hour, then
roll the stems around between your fingers gently. That makes them much more pliable and easier to work with. :kisstwo:

Thanks for the tip OMM, that makes perfect sense, will do. But since you say "Done" with the LST, now I wonder, How long are you supposed to train them for?

Sorry to hear that, I hope you get back here soon.

Take care my friend.

Thanks Dirt!! I missed you too, even if its only been a few hours haha!!

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

There's no time limit....when you have them like you want them you can stop.

If your training a plant to go along the edge of the pot in a circle, that would take a while. That's what I meant.

Hey Q!

I woulda missed you but you were back before I knew you were gone.

That would make an awesome country song :cheertwo:

Imagine a country singing voice...
"...This was gonna be a sad sad song....,
but you were back before you'd gone..."

Yee haw!

P.S. I like both kinds of music: Country AND Western ;)

(j/k, not a huge fan of either!) :)

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

I kept tying mine down until the stretch stopped b(a couple of weeks into 12/12). Then one night she broke free in the middle. Had to wrangle her back down.

Hey OMM:) Thats kinda what I figured, and I definitely want to get them all the way around the pots. I may be flipping the lights next week though, and I'm not sure how long into flower I want to keep up the LST. But time is slowly but surely running out, vacation is at the end of july so I have to be flowered by then....:peacetwo:

Lol, just a funny visual of you with a lasso, chasing down a rogue cola, classic!

Hay Quix, This is the simplest, and lowest stress possible way I've seen to LST:

300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

This was posted by Setting Sun, who, for some seemingly political reason, is now Namaste, and no longer here.

Hay Horse Nice to have you stop in!:welcome: Thanks for that link, although I didn't see any info on the LST on the particular page it took me to. That thread is 116 pages, and I've gotten sucked into SS and a few of those other great guys' threads before. So much great info, and a good group of people it seems, but if I start getting lost in one of those again I'll find myself with a pile of chineese takeout boxes and mountain doo bottles, and a stack of unpaid bills!! Before I started posting here i spent a LOT of time reading(I dont like the term lurking, it just sounds creepy:rofl:) But I dont have the kind of time I used to.
I really think if I just wing this thing it'll turn out ok, thats why I haven't done much research on it. But I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction, thanks again for that! Feel free to stop in any time!!:thankyou:

Well, these pics aren't the greatest, but I'm a little under the weather (Self induced). I'll make an effort to get some better ones up a little later, so that you can better see whats going on....

I think it's about time to give'm names lol. #1 is a freakin monster, stretchy as hell, with stems you could hit a baseball with. She is also very mild smelling. She's got around 9 or 10 inches of main stem, with 10 good nodes, but obviously she's much shorter because of the LST. I do believe I can see a little spade in one of her nodes.

#2 Is much more humble, Shorter in stature with 9 nodes. It's virtually impossible to get a string in there to measure the main, as she is so damn bushy, with very close internodal spacing. She's is also VERY strong smelling, almost pungent! And she, as of this morning, is confirmed female, with one tiny lil pistil emerging from a pre-flower....

It's weird to see the different phenos, but what's even stranger is the fact that these two are exhibiting nearly identical traits as the last two plants I grew!....Any way, hope you all are well, see you around soon!:peacetwo:

Hay Quix, I guess you've gotta hold your mouth right, takes me right to it :)

300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

Page 76 post #1514... it'll make your life a little simpler :ganjamon:

Hay Horse, weird thing is bro, I went looking for post 1514, found it, but its on page 101...? That method is a bit simpler isn't it? I think its a little late to do it that way, as I've already started them going around the pots, but I'll definitely remember that method in the future. I wonder though, now that I've thought about it, what the difference in results are when comparing the two methods. I'm thinking that the way I'm doing it, may create more "main" colas out of the shoots, than the other way, as more of the real main stem has been trained horizontally?....Anyway, thank you again bud!:peacetwo:

Re: Quix's Corner-"Puddle-o-Green"-NL&Bagseed Indoor Soil Experiment

So, everyone likes freebies right!? Had a buddy call me up a while ago, said he had a few things someone left with him, in his basement, and I went for a drive today to pick through it all n see if there was anything of use to me....I was dissappointed to find that there were no lights to be foiund, like he said there were, but I did swoop up a couple items of interest.....

First up is a cute little clone/ veg shelving rack kinda deal, dude had it panda-ed with a zipper, but I'll have to re-do it cuz its a lttle tattered, but at least now I'll have a place to do clones, or mothers, or whatever, it should fit nicely in my closet....
P5210004-3.JPG

Next, is a DIY cloner setup, with 60 sites! Came with a pump, a couple hoses, and a long skinny thing that I assume is like an air stone....Also, a stack of the little cloner cups, and some rockwool cubes!...
P5210004-1.JPG
P5210002-1.JPG

Also got a little seedling heat mat, whish I think is a complete waste of money, but for free, hell I'll take it....
P5210003-1.JPG

And last but not least, and my personal favorite, now I can vape with the big boys!!
I didnt know these things were sold as air fresheners?....Anyone ever heard of this brand? And if so, does anyone know if its a good one or not? Its called a Vaporite Solo, It seems pretty cool, the bottom, and the element light up blue, and the dial goes from 0-440 degrees.
P5210002-2.JPG
P5210004-2.JPG

I know not to vape at over 350 or so, from what I've read, but I'd like to get some opinions on how long to let it heat up, how fast to inhale, and peoples' prefrences on temps. I've never vaped before, except with a tiny little pocket sized one my buddy has, and only twice ever....
