Thanks JBC. Did you get a good yield from it? I had tried to grow a BM when I first started getting beans but the poor thing didn't make it. So I am determined to try to grow those strains that failed/died on me the first time. I hope to get some more BM autos hopefully next month but I would also like to get a big bang auto.

Well mine was just in a flower room so it was 12/12 from seed, just a smoke along the way sort of plant. She was really good though all the buds produced were big dense buds, nice mellow cannabis, doesn't blow your head off. I think I got 1/2 oz or something. Really excited for the Fem versions, usually use cfl throughout but going to invest in a hps for flower this round, meant to last time but had bills to pay.

ok cool your currently growing using MH but you would normally use hps...got it stoner memory dontcha know ok flowing under MH its my understanding that you will get smaller and fluffier buds than under HPS but they may be more potent.you may want to consider a dual hps for your next bulb purchase so that 1 bulb can be used the entire grow and give blue and red all 'year' round =)ill be here till you stop posting.<3 who knows, maybe one day me and my partner might pop in for a coffee and a smoke

I surely hope they get bigger than what they are now! And these 2 in 1 bulbs run about how much? You know I am on a budget! More potent does sound nice though.

cheapest i see at my regular store is £18 ($27?) for a 400

but this is only when you plan to buy a replacement bulb anyway you have a MH doing its job...if possible you might want to try and top it up with some red CFLs if you still have any hanging around and can =)

Thats those dual-arc bulbs correct? The one with like... A HPS and smaller MH built in one? They only come in 1000watt correct?

If you want smaller wattage, but full spectrum.. CMH's only run up to 400watt... At least, they only did when I was in the market. Relatively very cheap compared to high end HPS or MH bulbs.

GiGaBaNE has a good idea for filling out the spectrum, with the CFL's... Thats exactly how OMM used to grow before he got pimped out with LED's.

I still have a few cfls laying around somewhere, the problem lies with where the plugs are in my house. So most of my things are run with cords and surge protectors. Ok now can someone tell me what a CMH is?

ceramic metal halide bulb. its a hybrid of the two types of bulb and is better in almost every way that either of its parents...but doesnt quite outclass them in their specialist role.

a cmh contains the whole spectrum, this can be an issue for humans as it can cause the same cancer concerns as sunbeds and real sun.
but they also run cooler too =)

Oh, ok. It sounds like something I need to look into in the future. You get cancer from long exposure to it? I have never been in a tanning bed since I have a natural tan or carmel complexion....lol

having dug a little deeper, CMH is also availible as normal spotlights. These compete for pole position with CFLs rather than HPS/MH which is fantastic news...and even better the bulbs come 'focused'. you can order the bulbs based on if you want the light to com out at say 45degree beam or 90degree beam e.t.c, these can not only greatly boost the efficiency of the light (im not educated enough to confirm this but i think focused beams would modify the inverse square law theory we apply to light penetrations/distance/watts thing)
, but they also reduce the risk of getting bombarded yourself by the harmful uv rays (tight beams pointed directly at the buds and not a wide beam lighting everything in line of site.)

thats ok queen. life is a long path, now you have more options for the future, just go with what your able too, im only using 1 600w dual spec atm, it did origionally come with a pure hps bulb thats only done maybe a hundred hours, junk to me, ill only ever use dual spec or better now its just less hassle and work.

i could ship it to you if you want? doubt it would cost much as it isnt very heavy. hell i could even send it insured so you get a bulb out of it whether that one arrives whole or not

Plants are doing good, don't have to give them anything tonight. Both are showing changes, it looks to me like the buds on the skunk are getting bigger and tighter. It makes my mouth water every time I look at it. The mystic had a slight growth spurt and is working on it's 3rd or 4th set of leaves but they're still tiny.
