Prof's Lab: Diary Of A Bedroom Farmer

I remember when I thought that the bag said to feed at 7g per gallon in flower lol. I threw out the bag and made up my own rules!

Thanks for clearing up the confusion there Shed

Thanks for the advice TC. The shaker sounds like a great method. Is it a cleaner method than bubble bags? I noticed that you can cover half the room in oily water if your not careful making bubble hash.
I normally add my hash to blunts but have been known to make a small one with tobacco if I'm out and about somewhere discrete. Being from the uk everyone starts out smoking weed with tobacco. Blunts used to be considered a treat until recently since tobacco has become less popular. Before becoming a grower I could have never afforded to smoke blunts especially not blunts laced with fine (or gooey as fuck) hash lol
Thanks for the advice on not loosing it to your finger tips
:passitleft:

Pollen shaker makes no mess. You can scrape the dust with a credit card and collect easily. You can go for multiple runs without mess.

I enjoy hemp blunt wraps as well. Rolling pure green is also nice but I think tobacco helps the weed burn as well as it helps hash. Thick blunt paper does a similar job. I like to have a joint between my fingers almost all the time and can't always afford full time blunt blazing. I also like the taste of tobacco combined with nice cured weed or any kind of extract. You just need to find a good tobacco. I am only using G. Karelias light hand rolling tobacco. It has a very weak taste and not hard on the lungs. But since it is wetter than filter cigarettes, I don't use this tobacco when rolling hash especially if I don't have dried nugs.

If you want to take your hash experience to a next level, you can try smoking with a chillum. Make sure you get a fat one and use that tool properly. It is designed to smoke a big chunk of hash with lots of dried weed and tobacco. Its almost like a shisha but hits hard like no other. Cokeheads like to smoke a nice sativa with chillum when they don't have their favourite poison at hand. Produces a very high and uplifting effect on most people. Another next level method is bucket smoking as I mentioned earlier. That works more for hard stoners :lot-o-toke:

Here are the top 4 ingredients listed:
Calcium Nitrate
Monopotassium Phosphate
Potassium Nitrate
Magnesium Sulfate

Salts all. Here is some information on fertilizer salts if you're interested.

Even the manufacturer knows they're salt-based. When I emailed them and said:
Just to be clear, MegaCrop will leave ions and salts behind after use? Yes?

Their response was:
every fertilizer will do that
Thanks shed. this is another reason losing the mc thread is a pain. a lot of good pioneering has been done and now feels a little lost. Thankfully guys like you and Mr Sauga, farside05 ect are still around and about . I use a water sprayer for misting and often spray the outsides of the fabric pots. I get a salt build up on the fabric too. Didn't expect that. Thanks for always being the clarity mate.

I'm doing a little outdoor experiment with an autoflower using the tea and my homemade soil mix which is just coco, some clay pebbles and my homemade compost. The compost looks really good and I am growing quite a lot with it at the moment. I'm nearly out already though but the next bin is well on the way to being shut up until next spring. So far the Auto is alive though it seems a little slow to me. Ive gone with 2 photo regs as well to see how they like being brought up as veg plants in the mix. The auto is going to hopefully flower and we're just going to feed it the evil tea. No cheating with the MC lol.

To be honest GG I'm not quite sure that I have the hang of it quite yet. I had a brief chat with Lewy last night about how my last round of hash turned out. The finished product is potent as hell and tastes amazing but seems far to sticky and is a nightmare to use. I had to keep it in the freezer in between use as any heat applied to it caused it to melt and stick to anything that isn't a greaseproof surface. I left a little blob of it on the table next to my spliff and about 30 seconds later it had begun to pool and I lost it. I used a knife to try and scrape it off the table but it just stuck to the knife. I used another Knife to try and scrape it off the first knife....You can see where this is going lol. God forbid you let it rest on your finger tip for longer than 10 second. Gone simply put. To make a joint I have to get the everything prepared first then go and get the hash from the freezer. Then after unwrapping it I have to pick little bits of it and drop them straight into the joint before they begin to melt. You have to move really fast and there is no second chance to break up a lump that might have been a bit too big for the joint lol. Luckily it burns incredibly smoothly even with large lumps of sticky caramel like hash blocking up the joint. Other then that it is very nice lol. Lewy said about stirring it for less time as I did mine for about 15 minutes before letting it sit for around 10 and then going at it again. I stir it loose in a bucket before dumping it through the bags. I did it about 4 times
I hear you on the sticky and hard to use. I mix it all together anyway so dont seperate it. For me , I found once made and initially squeezed of water. I broke it back up into a pasty powder and dried it completely for a few days. once it went back together again and compressed with a rolling pin and even paper , to a lump of darker hash. I then used a boveda 6.2 in a jar with it . was a lot easier to use and more like the hash I am used too. none of that posh lewy melt. lol 1st couple of runs of it had me so frustrated with its usability but as you point out , the potency is amazing compared to any I have ever bought. Let it get powdery dry then compress it.
As we discussed before , I am on the same as you with old coco, balls and waste but no tea here . I live the colour of it with the coco too. only thinking about a soil for more water retention/bulk. I will add some recharge and amendments once I am brave enough to do the single bed LOS with homemade/ecothrive combo. Have to be honest on how good the ecothrive LOS is though. I am amazed at the speed and growth that it can give for soil based on my fears before using it.
keep up the work mate. great to watch and not smell.lol . wonder how long the MC will not being used will last. it kills me not to lob a few L in the LOS pots when I fill the NFT res.lol. I do remember Emilya saying this would halt the natural production and turn the soil into just a base for roots u til reactivated with fresh life though.

And none of it vegetarian :cheesygrinsmiley:
it would grab a vegan by the neck during harvest and shake the scrawny fucker to bones for the nutrients. Little shop of horrors comes to mind " feed Me prof flora , feed me now !"

Again, chillums are something I dabbled back n the day. My friend had one and we all used to meet up and go around his place because he had lenient parents. We used to get stuck to the sofa and dread having to walk back home in the cold night after a toasty session on the chillum lol.

I've got my hash in with the bovida now. It dried better than the last round made with the trim from the same plants. The first round was all the rougher trim and this was better stuff with a lot more sugars. It is much easier to handle than the attempt I previously described. This stuff is sticky but you can roll it with your fingers and if you put it on the table it doesn't begin to melt. I'm super happy lol.

The tea has just had a new ingredient added. I was sat drinking coffee whilst supervising the kids when a horse walked past my house and took a massive shit. Mrs F was horrified and not at the turd lying at the bottom of the drive. No. She was horrified because when I saw it she saw the look on my face. Naturally I went and got a bucket and a shovel, cleaned it off the road and dumped it into a giant tub of festering liquid which is sat just outside our bedroom patio door. Now the anaerobic soup has been super-charged with life and has acquired and extra depth to its sexy scent. It is still no way near as bad as the original bucket though. I'm actually worried about using it because it's so gross and not because it may kill my entire garden. I'm sure it'll be fine. What's the worst that could happen?....

Its cooking now cris. Think it needs another month or so and maybe a few more ingredient. Today I'm going to add a load of shredded bamboo simply because it feels right. That and also because were cutting down the invading bamboo lol. Welcome to my journal and I hope you're well and staying safe.
I'm ordering take-away.
I do takeaway! Please, I'll throw in a mouldy cabbage and some clams. I need the custom!

Happy 4/20 everyone. Hope you are all well on this fine day. The sun is shinning and the weather is sweet eh (Canadian Bob Marley). Time for some updates.
First up today we have the bottom fed coco grow. I have some personally exciting news regarding this grow which I will get to shortly but first we should have a look at what is going on.
It is flowering day 29 today and the plants have all begun to focus their energy on making flowers. There is some good variety in here with short and wide indicas sat next to some crunched up tall and more lanky sativa plants. The leaves vary a lot as well. We have wide, long and thin, serrated and smooth. Hopefully the flowers will reflect the current trend.
These are being watered daily with 2 gallons of feed at 5.5g of MC per gallon. The 200w lighting is keeping the tent at a good temp. I've not seen it go above 25C and we've had some nice days recently. Humidity varies but doesnt go far above 60% when it does it drops to around 40% if I leave it too long before watering.
I have performed some more super cropping on them and a bit more defoliation as to tidy them up a little but there's not much left to do before we sit back and let them do their thing. I think I will be battling with the Crumbled Limes for a while as they dont seem to understand how to stay down. Here is the group today....

Earlier I decided to see if any had began to develop any kind of scent yet as there are trichs on most now. I started with the Crumbled Limes as N420 and Lewy had both asked about those before. The answer is quite nice. There is definitely sour fruit in their futures. It is still very early though and most just smell like early weed. That is all except for one. One is just incredible and its only just begun. To quote a member of this site it is "very raunchy". The strain we are talking about is none other than the Double D's. That's right. The runt. Luckily she's not actually a runt and just had the worst start. I will be revegging her for sure provided she doesn't do something silly like go full hermie on me. I can see why they call it Garlic Cookies (GMO). In my opinion its stronger than garlic and has a genuine cooked meat smell. It reminded me of chipotle a little bit lol. Ive never had weed like this before. Its all I've been thinking about this afternoon lol.

Also just bought the memory of two older guys when I was about 6. We had rag and bone men and a drey horse in the pub yard opposite that went up our street , they would come out with shovels to collect the shit as it went past. 2 old guys were physically ragging each other about over a scoop of shit. I never knew why they all loved horse shit so much then and kept well away from them !!!!. lol

Its not something that I've ever done before. Becoming a gardener does weird things to you. Whereas I used to dodge shit I now aim for it lol.
Manure is really expensive so collecting It seemed to make a lot of sense. I'm just hoping a that a fish waste truck crashes at the bottom of the road.

Time for a peek at the mothers and clones. The bonsai mothers have barely even slowed after their makeover the other day and I could even take a couple clones from them if I really wanted to. The Tropicananna Banana has a hell of a trunk on her already and is super strong. Its like a little tree in a cupboard. It won't be long before we find out if she's any good or not. The rest are looking good too but there is something about the TB.
As I dont have a lot of space I'm cloning underneath the mothers. There is a bit of height to this tent so I was wondering if I could get a shelf in there with a second light set underneath it. That would double the space and allow me to not have to clone like this. Oh well, it seems to be working. Cuttings dont need a lot of light and I'm hoping that this will be enough....

Hey 420. Hope you all had a great day yesterday. We had a relaxing one with the kids and didn't get much done. What a shame lol. We're back at it again now though as its time to water the Auto with some very nasty water. I checked on the outside plants when I woke up this morning and the Auto looked a little droopy so I thought that we could try some of our homemade nutrients....

Well that was fun!

My little outdoor garden is coming along ok. The Auto Purple Gorilla is 12 days old today and looks alright but I'm wondering if she's being a little slow. Despite being outdoors under the sun she's still getting less light than she would be if she was in the tent. The Auto is realistically probably only receiving 12 hours of light and not all of that is decent. Still, she looks pretty good at the moment though I have just fed her with the tea.
I diluted the tea by eye and aimed for around a 1/10 mix. Now that I'm writing that down it seems a little high to me and maybe I should have gone for a slightly weaker first watering.

Here she is today....
