Prof's Lab: Diary Of A Bedroom Farmer

Hey 420! Another day in isolation and another chance to get some gardening done. Today I managed to take some clones and cut back the mothers plus get a few pics of the other tents progress. First up we have the coco grow. Here we are a couple of days after the training session on flowering day 25....

love new flowering heads. That initial look across the canopy and seeing the white golf balls forming is priceless. going great guns Prof.

I could eat marmite with a spoon lol. Cheese, bacon and marmite toasty GG. That's all I need to say.
I didn't realise that you had your new journal up and running. I'll be over for peep soon. You're probably on page 30 already. You're plants are looking great though.

Thanks N. I still need to get in there and check for pleasant smells lol. The Crumbled Lime's are both very good at the moment
:passitleft:
Holy batcrap , that combo would have me working. I love favourites over sweet anyway but I try to like it with zero joy. lol. Does sound like you have some good variety making waves too. I am trapped in the seed zone with lots to use now before I can again shop around again. must have 100 from the gelato jizzfest.!!!. lol watching with an interest on these flavour saves.
No worries on catching up Btother. Even with all this time its busy for us and seeing how much your "relaxing tour grows!!" , I am not too surprised either. hahaha. glutton for punishment matey.
Managed to smash my career best by over 11oz last run with just over 40oz so hopeful on these big FFT girlsnfor yield. I am loving the Los but the mc is a winner too so cant decide which way to go so will keep both. such am easy life just watering them. The NFT has been my laziest grow ever. Set the 1st feed up , no ph ,ppm and have been just refilling with fresh mixes as the levels drop. It is a piece of boring piss !!!!!. hahaha. would be perfect for a tone away from plants set up though and with a good res to top them up from , it would be game over on the constant mixing. No signs of any issues so far except my drowning 2 from the level too high to run off properly. I didnt thinking would get away with it this long but they are still playing ball and look perfect Megacrop green. Seeing the growth and stretch not being hindered either so all seems to be good. Have to try shit to know shit. lol

Here is the mother tent before I took some cuttings earlier. The plants were in need of a good trim and they certainly got that....

Love the cat battles.haha
Stripping out and using the decent tips for cloning feels right somehow. since being a seed grower , I hate killing all that potential so quickly. even using it as mulch doesnt seem right. Do love mother plant balls.

I cut the mothers backdown to their lowest side growth shoots and also took the opportunity to remove some of the main branches. They had 8 growth tips each but I've trimmed them down to 4 as I will never need that many cuttings. Now I can fit more plants in my mother tent as well. I should be able to get 5 more in there if I need to....

I didnt think MC built salts though. I am sure i remember a conversation with Emilya about wicking a while back on her old thread
You have me worried now lol. I'm fairly certain that what I'm seeing is salt build up. I do get a little concerned when I see the surface of the medium beginning to turn white. I cant remember which grow it was now but I definitely remember thinking that MC was particularly salty once. it has clogged my dripper lines before now.

It looks like there might be some interesting ones this time. The Starcake looks like it might be purple or at least very dark. The Exotic Genetix are both very fast and are noticeably ahead of the rest at this point. The Double D's looks beautiful now compared to what she looked like at the beginning of flower. It feels like I may be re-vegging a few of these.

This one feels a bit like that. Just add more water lol. The plants are looking better than most of the plants I grew last year though I did go through an experimental phase with all sorts of shite soil combos lol. I'm feeling happy that I went with the coco now. I always used to associate coco with waste which I didn't like the sound of but doing it like this removes that and makes it much cheaper.
Pop around later for a cuppa if you like

still got my like working away with all the coco waste , fruit and veg , dandelions ect.. it is so rich when I turn it now and the life in it is crazy. Just need to find a good base soil to add to it for volume and herd growth. Got my compost bin empty witha nice layer of wet cardboard to bring them wrigglers up for the feast to come. All good stuff too , no onion or citric crap. lots of banana and a whole aviary of eggshells breaking down, spuds are trying to grow in it again now but they will be mashed into more compost for the cause. Used a bit in the LOS pots as I went up in volume by nearly 20L a tub and didnt have enough ecothrive to fill them all up. doing good on it so far.

Before we continue I must first apologies yet again for the camera. I really wish I had the better one for this. This stuff looks very tasty indeed.

That is some nice coloured hash Prof. Do you mix before you put it through the bags???. Did consider it being easier than trying to not hit the sides all the time and risking the bags. I bought the all mesh ones last run and found them helpful with the draining the smallest micron bags. Been putting it off with mine but now getting very low so need to get on with it . Lewy did some nice runs and I planned to do it a few weeks back. I have the blackberry and lsd sugars in a small tub separate so will only get a very small return on them I think but I do have a few oz of the rest too and all of the stems that are gritty as hell too. inspirational yet again fella. Enjoy mate. looks so nice.

I'm doing a little outdoor experiment with an autoflower using the tea and my homemade soil mix which is just coco, some clay pebbles and my homemade compost. The compost looks really good and I am growing quite a lot with it at the moment. I'm nearly out already though but the next bin is well on the way to being shut up until next spring. So far the Auto is alive though it seems a little slow to me. Ive gone with 2 photo regs as well to see how they like being brought up as veg plants in the mix. The auto is going to hopefully flower and we're just going to feed it the evil tea. No cheating with the MC lol.

To be honest GG I'm not quite sure that I have the hang of it quite yet. I had a brief chat with Lewy last night about how my last round of hash turned out. The finished product is potent as hell and tastes amazing but seems far to sticky and is a nightmare to use. I had to keep it in the freezer in between use as any heat applied to it caused it to melt and stick to anything that isn't a greaseproof surface. I left a little blob of it on the table next to my spliff and about 30 seconds later it had begun to pool and I lost it. I used a knife to try and scrape it off the table but it just stuck to the knife. I used another Knife to try and scrape it off the first knife....You can see where this is going lol. God forbid you let it rest on your finger tip for longer than 10 second. Gone simply put. To make a joint I have to get the everything prepared first then go and get the hash from the freezer. Then after unwrapping it I have to pick little bits of it and drop them straight into the joint before they begin to melt. You have to move really fast and there is no second chance to break up a lump that might have been a bit too big for the joint lol. Luckily it burns incredibly smoothly even with large lumps of sticky caramel like hash blocking up the joint. Other then that it is very nice lol. Lewy said about stirring it for less time as I did mine for about 15 minutes before letting it sit for around 10 and then going at it again. I stir it loose in a bucket before dumping it through the bags. I did it about 4 times

makes sense prof. the runoff is always the reason I turn back off it too. I tend to get lazy and avoid runoff so probably keep it a bit dry too. getting regular times to farm is always a pain too so feeding schedule gets harder. Small mixes in the saucer for wicking makes sense but as your finding , the moisture content is harder to hit the sweet spot with. Do you give them a top feed occasionally to hit the laterals up top or is it all wicking ?. maybe the white is mushroom mould. good for herd.

Don't believe everything you read here GG. Read the actual MC bag and you'll see the ingredients are just as salt-based as every other nutrient brand.
making sense shed. thanks buddy. I have hidden the bag from ever seeing light ( or smelling it) until absolutely necessary!!. lol

Here are the top 4 ingredients listed:
Calcium Nitrate
Monopotassium Phosphate
Potassium Nitrate
Magnesium Sulfate

Salts all. Here is some information on fertilizer salts if you're interested.

Even the manufacturer knows they're salt-based. When I emailed them and said:
Just to be clear, MegaCrop will leave ions and salts behind after use? Yes?

every fertilizer will do that

Good night everyone
:passitleft:

So this is great stuff. 25m looks very potent and the rest is also amazing. I jumped in here because I like hash products better than any nug and I have some stuff to say :passitleft:

I am not trying to brag but I've had too much experience on hash in every aspect. I've met lots of hash masters and smokers. I tried almost everything hashy. It has been an obsession because the taste of hash is unrivalled. I prefer a good hash to any other cannabis product. Extracts also have a great taste but they lack lots of stuff compared to hash. I would like to share my final thoughts about hash making and rolling here for everyone if you guys don't mind :thanks:

First, there are lots of ways to make hash as we all know. I tried all kinds of extraction. Bubble bags are nice but I abandoned them because they don't yield good. You get several products with different potency and that is a plus. When you smoke that 25 microns stuff it will feel like heaven thats for sure. But you don't have too much of that. Other stuff is also great but achievable with another methods in a more convenient way.

I am using a pollen shaker for a long time. I put my trim in freezer and set it to the lowest temp. I wait for a couple days then put the stuff inside the pollen shaker. I got one with 160 microns and another with a 90 microns screen. I am mostly using the one with 160 microns screen and sometimes I add dry ice to the system. This gets things even freezier.

Yield is huge compared to bubble bags. The downside is, you can't smoke the powder without processing it. The trick here is not to shake for too long. You can use the screens together to get two different products. After shaking for around a minute with dry ice or two to three minutes alone, you can put your trim back into the freezer. In the second run, you can shake as much as you want and get enormous yield with a lower quality but don't worry, we will process these as well. You will be very satisfied with the taste and high with the both products.

After getting a single or several products with different potencies, we store them in cooking paper. You can slightly press with your hand to give them a shape. Powder is not the best form to store pollen. If you have a minute shake with dry ice inside 90m shaker, you can press the powder between your fingers inside a small piece of cooking paper. After a couple minutes you can observe the change in tone. It gets dark green because you basically cook them. It is ready to roll that easy but lets consider you have a 15 minutes shake without dry ice inside a 160m shaker. That is not the best product to work with but if you can cook this one properly, this will also kick *ss.

There are many different cooking methods but I think this is the most modern and efficient way to do it. I must say that some traditional methods lead to different products like stone hard hashish so if you are after a certain product you might need to dig in deeper. We can't learn every method from the internet. I am just sharing what is working for me the best.

To cook my type of stuff, we'll need heat and a pollen press. You must fill your pollen press with the fewest amount of pollen required to form a pressed disk. I am pressing with the bigger pollen press(I think there are mostly two sizes available) and rolling only one joint with the pressed disk so you can figure how thin the disk should be. The thinner the better because we don't want to cook too much.

After pressing the pollen with our presser, we place a tissue on a pan and turn the heat on. You can crank it all the way it doesn't matter. We just need to heat the pan until the pollen press gets hot. I constantly roll my pollen press on the pan to distribute the heat uniformly. I take it away from the pan before it gets too hot to handle. At this point, pollen loosens up and lets you press for more. This is the trick for cooking. Press as much as you can then put it back in the pan and turn down the heat. Give it 10-15 seconds in there and take it away again. Let it cool down to room temp. and then get your disk out of the press.

In the end this method becomes much more efficient compared to bubble bags method. You need to use more product in press but the yield is so greater that you will have no shortage of pollen. I strongly suggest this way.

About rolling, I agree that this stuff is very sticky and cooling it helps but your hands always stay sticky at the right? I am rolling my weed with tobacco and I am rolling my hash with both weed and tobacco. Thats the most efficient way to burn your hash. About the sticky hands, I rub them with tobacco and all of the stuff on my hand fuses into the joint. I take a small piece of tobacco to rub my hands and the small hash pieces. I am not trying to fuse the hash into tobacco here, I am trying to do otherwise. When you fuse tobacco in hash, you make the hash burn easier. You can also cut the pieces into crumbs easier after doing this. You should use a small part of tobacco to do this because if you make a dough with all of your tobacco, your joint clogs. We need some of your tobacco to stay loose. You want this portion of the tobacco, mixed with a fine cured and ground weed. Finally you need to add your tobacco infused hash crumbs inside this mix and distribute them in a uniform way. Smaller crumbs are better for uniform burning. I don't like hash crumbs to be close to paper and I find them burning more efficiently in the center of the joint so its better to keep this in mind.

I hope you guys try my method and enjoy it. I am running out of my stash these days and my pollen shaker keeps me going for 4 days. I don't know how much left to shake but I think I can manage to stay alive without smoking for 3-4 days :laughtwo:

Happy smoking folks :passitleft:

Thanks for the advice TC. The shaker sounds like a great method. Is it a cleaner method than bubble bags? I noticed that you can cover half the room in oily water if your not careful making bubble hash.
I normally add my hash to blunts but have been known to make a small one with tobacco if I'm out and about somewhere discrete. Being from the uk everyone starts out smoking weed with tobacco. Blunts used to be considered a treat until recently since tobacco has become less popular. Before becoming a grower I could have never afforded to smoke blunts especially not blunts laced with fine (or gooey as fuck) hash lol
Thanks for the advice on not loosing it to your finger tips

Today was the first gloomy day we've had in weeks so I left the Purple Gorilla and Co indoors in the window....

It was humid and warm and we had some rain so I didn't want the slugs eating my plants. You only have to throw a bucket of water on the ground here and 10 minutes later there'll be slugs everywhere. I'd like to let the plants get a little bit bigger before exposing them to those beasties. Here is the Purple Gorilla today....

It's so cool to be able to see the purity increase from larger to smaller mesh screens. Nice job and nice pics Professor!

Should have kept the bag and made up your own shoes! That plastic was much thicker than crisp packets.
I'd have had to have put both of my feet in the same bag. It was big enough to do that. At £70 a bag I wouldn't have been buying another one for the other foot though. Expensive shoe(s)!

Your whole meat compost seems to be doing pretty well so far!
So far I'm growing chillies, tomatoes, cucumbers, spring onions, chives, mixed salad leaves, rosemary, spearmint, sunflowers and cannabis with it. Its early in the season but nothing has died yet. With cannabis plants I'm going to give them some tea maybe next weekend and see how that goes.
