PP Bagseed Outdoor Grow Journal - 2018

Afternoon my friend, busy catching up quick. In some earlier pics you showed the root zone and I thought to myself that your soil content almost looks like you have to much clay in it from the 50% garden soil...:Namaste:

Thanks man, I wished I heard that sooner lol. But thank god for Emilya!

Good afternoon my friend, just gonna grab that beanbag in the corner. I've been lurking the last year just reading and learning and tried 1 grow last year as a trial. Decided to join up in January, and learn properly from all the teachers. My bru if @Emilya was a school teacher you would still be in detention writing out lines boet...:MoreNutes: only joking bout the emoji..

Anyway I'm busy with a cpl other peeps journals and I've come across Emilya in a cpl of them, that's golden knowledge imparted there bru, for myself included.

And @jimmy_zee, I've seen him on another site and also knowledgeable and helpful fella.

So if you don't mind I'll go get that beanbag now and enjoy the show..

My journals called " The Jerky Box Project, have a gander if it pleases you, share info and stuff.

P.S. I use a compost mix similiar to yours. I mix 50% compost,30% worm poo and 20% perlite and my girls are happy apart from slight nitro burn.
I use Seagro and nitrosol at the moment, get it anywhere, mica p&pay garden....

Emilya may I a so you a question in regards to cloning may I inbox you please...??:Namaste:
Sorry for the ramble and hogging your journal my friend...:Namaste:

Thanks my bru, you from SA too?

You are more than welcome to discuss anything 420 related!

Morning PP, also when training your girls from young, can't remember where I saw it awhile back but it worked for me on my girl DFID (bag seed I made edibles from) when I trained her is to pull her gently over a 1ltr coke bottle or similar..... That how I got her so low...

Do you have pics to guide me better? I'm gonna post an update now, juicy update! Lol

Evening there my friend. Yip another Saffa, been back 4 yrs now. Lived overseas 15 yrs or so. I stumbled on your journal looking for outside grows, and saw a pic of your compost brand and clicked it's Pretoria made after a google check. Figured you were def a Saffa....... And we are more or less same time frame in regards to lst, my girls a bit older...

Ooooh love juicy anything, would smak to help out where I can..

1 tip if I may when next you repot next grow maby try my mix, you have compost mix, worm castings/poo is bout R80 got mine local, but nurserys may be more. Perlite is bout R50 in small or big for more Ching.

You soil is looking much much better than the beginning stages so well done on reigning it in.......

I will see what pics I have as I was very scatter brain first grow and the beginning of this new journal as I belong to 420sa as well. But deleted acc due to paranoia, I've come across a cpl guys from that site on this 1, but I'm under a diff name here.

So got busted when 1 of the sa guys busted my ass this afternoon, as he recognized some of my pics from my sa site......

Ok so my promix and nutrients and bigger pots came yesterday midday so I waited till the evening before doing anything. Luckily it didn't rain for 2 days so the soil was nice and dry and just before it rained yesterday I took them in so they don't get wet so I can transplant it easier.

So I got promix 90 10,which is 90% coco peat and 10%perlite if I'm not mistaken. It also has alot of other good stuff in the mix. I took nutrients for grow and for bloom.

Here's a pic of the nutrients:

I only took a before pic and a pic of the roots from plant 1 cos I needed to save time, all in all it took me about 4 hours to do all 6.

I have to say also that I noticed alot of the roots broke of or fell of from all of them, some not so much. However there was still a nice set of roots still attached to the plant. I tried my best to not let it fall off and break when the soil fell, problem was some soil fell off in chunks cos it was so shit and the roots went with it. I'm sure they will recover thought. Fingers crossed. Also the guy from the store said that as soon as I transplant I should water with nutrients and then in the evening a normal good pH watering. I got 5 buckets that are approximately 12 litres, around 3 gallons. The guy at the store said it's perfect for what I wanted to do. It also came with trays.

Here's a pic of plant 1 before:

At this point I stopped taking pics cos 5 was the same as 4 and 6 is sick so nothing to see really.

Here's pics of after:

I watered now, just before the pics with water with a pH around 6.2. With the nutrient water last night i gave them about 3 litres of water cos there was alot of runoff. I put 2.5 mls in about 12 litres of water. Now when I watered I gave them about just over a litre each.

How often should I water them and how often should I water with nutes?

I didn't tie down plant 4 and 5 cos I wanted to see how they will grow but I ended up tieing down 4 and leaving 5.its a bit bendy tho so what do you think I should do with her? Any advice with regards to tying down the plants?

I have to say this soil feels so nice and fluffy!

This was 1st attempt, chopped way way to early as was impatient.
Style- botched lst
Box- 420mm/520mm and 1m high in cupboard.
4-23w CFL
2comp fans

Before I chopped, used chopsticks to support arms.

So I lst'ed by pulling main stem over 1lt to get the shape, left a cpl days but let the side arms get away from me

I never trimmed excess branches so she branched madly... The bend from the bottle.

Level canopy..

Did major defoliation on all branches removing all alternating branches above and below each arm/branch. Leaves, bud sites you name it, drilled holes in pot rim and used garden wire to pull branches away from each other to give each potential bud site max light coverage. Had 2 the same, got rid of one for space.

Side arms getting longer, so added dial rods to pull down top of plant way down, has a thick stem now. Then retrain branches away from each other and keep level canopy. You can adjust every day as needed or let her run a day or 2 before adjusting.

Every other night before lights out I release her bondages so she can rest, then stretch a bit after lights on, I try to time it with her feedings so she works for her food being a bit dryer( only learnt this a cpl weeks ago on here)

This pic I took this am before taking off her straps, my favourite pic so far, just after I misted. Have to zoom to check the awsome droplet almost center right

She started with 9 other relatives, popped heads out Nov 15/2017, so bout 115 days if maths is correct. Just letting her arms stretch now and thicken for big heads I hope.

My OG Kush with lst training, using those branches for clones, been applying lst bout 2-3 weeks on some but that elec wire is bit clumsy. Ol mans an electrician.

And my bit of juicy is after I water OG with molasses prob 2.5ml per 1tt I'll let her use that before I take clones later early evening which brings me to my juicy bit....

My 4 clone bubbler courtesy of @Emilyas helpline, not sure hoe to link that but it's on thread bottom of this page..........

Hope to have operational tomorrow early evening....

Your lst is way better than my 1st attempts, just got lucky with this girl. Do yourself a favour and search the threads for guy called @lightaddict, journals called flux central. It took me bout 3 weeks + to read this monster journal almost all day every day and studying his methods. The bonus is he opened his journal to everyone to share there flux trials and tribulations and the amount of knowledge I gained by following others flux trials on 1 journal was mind blowing, what an eclectic selection of personalities I silently got introduced to was amazing. Some really stand up stella folk in that journal..

Give it a read however long it takes my friend as we are on the same progression level I feel, and you will actually come away with so much more knowledge by being a silent observer in the reading of that journal. So fits the style I had a vague idea about all there at your fingertips my Bru.

I can maximize more on 1 plant in my box this way versus the Scrog set up I had as it would get too fiddly for my Taurus nature but this flux style appeals to me...bizarre my friend..

Hope that helps and ask anytime if it's within my knowledge I'll try to help ( + plus reps for the ph pen, had 1 cpl months now and still haven't figured it out.......) and I want to bubble clone....

Sorry for the total hog on this mate, bit blathered bout blithering on to long to blazed...

Lol. What are the chances. I'm from za too. Got a duplicate journal up on 420sa.

@Potplant looking good bud. They should take off in the promix. Maybe water every 2nd or 3rd day. Check the soil with your fingers to see how dry it is. I'm using promix for the first time myself, so I'm not sure when to feed. I've read that u need to feed with every watering as coco is literally just coconut husk and has little nutrients. I have a small autopot setup to test, with some nutrients in the reservoir, no clue just how much is in it. Lol.

@Emilya I used a 2l bottle to clone & it works. They look a bit worse for wear cos a bug got in & started eating the leaves. Found it before it could do too much damage... 3 cuttings in the bottle & they all took root. Next time I'm using jiffy pellets. Rockwool is too small & fiddly to work with.

Good evening there P.P., in regards to the lst tuck the leaves you can and recheck your ties, see where you can improve...

In regards to watering.....

I will water tomorrow morning bout 7am, next day I stick Peter pointer finger into soil till first knuckle-is the soil moist-don't water, following day go 2 knuckles down-moist- leave it, 3rd full day if my whole finger goes down and I hardly feel moistness I'll water the next day, not always spot on though...

Hope that helps P.P.

No offense Smeegol, but I have never liked the knuckle method of telling if a container of weeds needs watering during veg... it tells you nothing about what is happening at the bottom of the container. Best to continue using the lift method for these weeds. The knuckle method is for growing vegetables or flowering pot plants, but it will not do while you are in the veg phase and still trying to grow the roots.

Thanks for that tip, I shall go by weight then, I shall wave farewell to my knuckle method, used to go by weight but got complacement with the knuckle method after using it as a quick check so often it became part of my method... Knowledge is power.......

Wow, awesome to see so many saffers!

OK so i watered them in the morning and then gave them some nutes now. I watered about 3 litres then and now about 4.5 litres. I noticed plant 1,2 and 5 the leaves were dropping as if they thirsty.

How often should I water with nutes?

Should I tie down these two, I noticed some nice growth now.

Here's the pics of the plants in order :

Emilya, now I filter it and then use it according to your post?

Good evening my friend, I trust you are well. Watering wise I do , 1st water nutes, 2nd nutes if they looking happy, 3rd watering- molasses and water, 4 th watering just water, then repeat cycle all depends on how often they drink, that's my cycle at the moment but only as a reference point.

LST- I would start on the bigger of the 2 as she is showing more promise, the 2nd lady I would leave be and love her a bit more and see how she reacts...

Have a wicked evening...:passitleft:

yep, just filter it and use about a tablespoon per gallon as you water. Read the last paragraph on my signature lines to see my opinion of nutes. Only now I would even start considering using nutes, and then only on your most robust plants.

Hey bud, thanks for that.

I don't have molasses tho. Are you growing in promix as well?

How much water are you giving each plant when you watering?
