Pooh's CFL Grow - First Grow! Soil - Bag Seed - Welcome Friends!

I LSTd my clone, sorry i didnt do that before the pics it was kinda a oh shit im gonna do that moment not too long ago lol.
Im excited about the rest of this grow, but as slow as its going im just like ehh its old news im OVERLY excited about my next grow.
Im gonna LST the aurora indica plant i start, probably as soon as it is like 6 inches tall. and im gonna plant it over to the side of the pot and LST it in a spiral around the pot and then when it starts branching out like crazy im gonna LST it as long as i can till its like full as fuck. then im gonna pop that screen over it and switch it to flowering. EXCITEMENT! ph'd water and fox farm soil should take care of its nutrients pretty well and 150w hps over a 12 inch canopy should do amazing! i hope i can get the 2ft screen cause one foot is just like... tiny considering my plant will be bushy and wide.
sorry to ramble! just excited about that grow and bored its only 8 in the morning on a saturday. nothing to do!
 
Things are looking really good bro!! Glad this one turned out female for you!! Marijuana is definitely a way of life for my girlfriend and I! I'm in culinary school to be able to make amazing MMJ eatables. My girlfriend is in massage therapy school and is allowed to use MMJ creams and oils on her patients that have Cards. Its pretty cool. I see you like to play guitar. I do as well. What guitar or guitars do you have and what music do you play?? Nice meeting you!!! And congrats on the amazing grow!!

I dont have a good guitar at the moment, had to sell a lot of my shit the last couple months. but i build guitars as the time and materials come.
I have been working on fingerstyle guitar lately practicing percussive stuff with the guitar and working on my right hand finger picking and slapping, pinch harmonics slap harmonics all that good stuff. I just recently started fucking around with the mm harmonic. I also dont play in standard tuning, or any standard tuning like drop d or double drop d none of that, i play in alternate open tunings. more specificly a tuning that i just kinda ventured out and found on my own its really fun actually its good for minor songs like bluesy or dark tone type its pretty cool. its DADF#AC#.
im playing a vintage parlor guitar. i dont even know the maker its just a mystery guitar i got from a family member when i was a teen.
i dont think you were expecting such an expansive response but as everyone knows, guitars are my weak spot! :peace:

I always wanted to build my own guitar. I had to pawn few guitars to pay for some bills and shit. I have ADD when it comes to guitar I've been playing 8 years and never learned a song lol. I just sit down and play. Mostly jazz I also play bass and mostly play funk and jazz. I have been working on finger picking on guitar but still have long way to go. I also used to play drums and sadly I had to sell my set and wall of cymbals to move to CO but hopefully someday I'll get a new drum set. I wish my family supported me and music they have always hated it for some reason but oh well.

I am currently checking out that open tuning!!
 
Thanks for checking in on my journal. Looks like you've got a nice crop growing, too. I think we both started our grows about the same time, so they should finish at about the same time. Any idea of when your crop will be done? Mine should be finished in about 7 more weeks.

i am extremely excited to grow aurora indica,
im thinking ill germ 2 seeds, and just keep one as a momma plant in a seperate grow space, and then grow the other one normally. then when that one goes into flowering, ill take a clone from the momma and keep that in the same space as the momma till i harvest and then put that clone in the grow room, by not taking any clones from the normal grow, i will max harvest and not waste my time taking clone after clone and losing potency, the momma will keep it fresh for me. and ill just keep her till she poops out and take clones from her when needed.
i know this has nothing to do with this current grow i just needed to put it in text so i can reference when i go for my next grow :peace:
 
update............laptop charger broke........so i wont be able to post pics for a while. and i might not be on much. well i might be able to get on every day or when i need to update. but i wont be able to post any pics for a while.
nothings going right today man. my fuse is to the iron.

checked on the lady, nothing new really, the clones adapting well to the LST so thats good. soon ill be tying it again and training it around the pot. thinking about making a little screen for it. idk.

stick with my guys ill post pics as much as possible

im actually plannin on taking clones from my 4 babies right before flowering. kinda wanna get two real good harvests in with these seeds. not really trying to do perpetual just kinda a grand finale. im trying alot of different methods as quick as i can to gain the much needed exp. plan on finishing the 4 i have in 5 gal. buckets, taking the clones i pull from them (12 is the number i might be goin for) put in smaller 2-3 gal. buckets and do a lite veg and try a quick grow. well jsut thought id compare brainwaves with u :high-five:

it is addicting to an extent brotha, i know that i will be mega addicted once i set up for my next grow but right now i just feel ehh, this grow is gonna give me an oz and some hash. but my next grow i know my yeild will go up considerably!
i know itll only be a 150w but since i have these CFLs, im gonna use them also in my next grow so ill get side lighting and everything i think i will do pretty good on my next few grows. and since everyone here is so helpful and friendly, ill always share my grows in journals. so expect to see me for life people! :D :peace:
 
Seems like the music talk has picked up in here too! Haha I have been messing in Dadgad as well. basically D sus 4 which is fun for Irish folk music which I have been obsessed with lately. I am also working on my fingerstyle but I am far from coming close to being good at it.

I mainly play power metal(Which usually is just tuned half step down) and some things in drop C. Really I just jump around.

Your girls are looking great my friend and I can't wait to see your new setup! You are gonna love the Aurora Indica. It has strong genetics and grows with no issue. They are gonna give me some awesome mothers.

i want to show some pics really bad! cause her buds are starting to look like mini ToG's buds your grow was just a few weeks in flowering. notice i said mini though. lol
the clones grown enough to where i had to tie it again :) i am happy with my little plants and i have been tying the fuck out of the big one.
and i cant wait to have aurora in my closet. gonna be the best weed i probably ever smoked lol maybe not but i can try :D
ill take some pics tomorrow and see if this old computer can handle uploading them. im on a computer i got back in 2002 and its never ran right. so it could just go blue screen on me at any minute. :peace:

Haha That's whats up. I can't wait to see how things are looking. Since I finished up my harvest(Almost) I am kinda anxious to start some new girls on 12/12. I have the Hindu Kush and Lemon Skunk but I want to get them to veg for another 2-3weeks before I flower. Plus I need to do some modifications on my closet before anything.

I will try that tuning out sometime. I have been in a creative mood lately and I wrote a few songs so I am trying to finish those up. I am a bit of a nerd(Ok well im a huge nerd) and a few of my songs sound like songs they would have on Megaman video games lol! Hey it's still music so yeah!

i wish i could find a job repairing computers. i would make bank. but no positions are available anywhere man this shit is crazy i cant get a job to save my life. i started to feel like a complete loser but realized oh shit, no one around me can find one either. im good at all kinds of shit, plants, computers, music, repairing musical instruments, building acoustic instruments. but right now it dont matter lol.
i put a new fretboard, bridge, saddle, and nut on a friends SJ acoustic because it was just a production one and he wanted ebony fretboard and bridge and carbon fibre nut and saddle, and even though its a bitch to measure out frets and get the fret wire perfect i only got paid 300 bucks for that and as soon as my electric bill and water bill came in that was gone pretty much, had 20 bucks for a bag lol.

i need to get in my closet and set everything up better cause with increasing size of all my plants not just my weed plant, things are getting crazy. when would be the best time to do this? in its night cycle or day? i dont want to expose it to light while its sleepin but i dont wanna take it out of its special lighting while its trying to grow.

these lime trees are becoming a hasle and honestly my weed plant is more important so im probably just gonna move them out of the way and let their leaves fall off. they wont die so who cares at this point lol. im anxious to get my new grow set up asap! but i know that it wont do much good with this grow. the light would but ehh itll be like the last week of flowering before i get it anyway so i would probably just let it finish with the CFLs.
thinking all the way ahead to harvest here, i was thinking the last two weeks i would water with purified water, and then the last day i would pour ice cold purified water over the roots and then shove her in darkness for 2-3 days. then harvest and trim. but then, i have to figure out a cool dark place for the buds to cure, i want a fan in there so i dont get mold. but idk where i could do this really. ill figure it out though. i would say my closet BUT ill already be starting my new grow you already know!!
thinking about using a dome reflecter and a Y socket with 2 daylight cfls for veg on the aurora indica untill its too bushy then ill put it under the hps for the res of veg and then flowering. OH and im gonna use a 2ft screen. so my plan for that is, ill LST that bitch around the pot till its bushy as fuck and i cant tie it anymore, then ill put the screen over her and let her grow into it for a week or two, then switch her into flowering.
i also have a question,
i know hid lights are supposed to be high, how high would i keep a 150w from the plant? i want to keep it as low as possible because hps is the spectrum for stretch. witch is why im gonna use CFLs for as long as possible in veg.

i think my clone is just days away from preflower, and i also think that i will have to tie it again tomorrow its growing fast!
and the more i watch the big plant grow, i notice that the buds farther from the lights look bigger, because they have pistils like madd, but then again, the buds up by the light are dense and solid. so i would guess that those are the better onese in this situation.
also tied the main stalk at the very top over and im expecting that bud that i exposed to turn into a cola and then boom i have another cola. idk why i am calling them colas right now they are too small but i like to dream!! :peace:

im sorry for getting off topic all the time! like with the music and stuff! i need to work on that lol

need to pick up some yeast though. and some more sugar. and some milk so i can use the jug. lol! got some rubber tubing though. like for oxygen tanks, i wasted my time putting co2 on my male so i never set it back up. but i think now is the time to shower my lady with co2. i want the most i can get out of this grow. also thinking about picking up a dome reflecter for my clone i think i already said that though lol. ok last 'update' lol its 3:30 in the morning i ramble!

I Totally know how you feel buddy. Struggling with no job is sucha burden. Never knowing where the money is going to come from. I'm in the same position.

I would do it during the day. you can risk one day of less light but you dont wanna risk exposing your girls to light during their dark period. Get what you need done during the day and move them back at night.

You can always do what I do. Make a dry box from packing boxes(mine were like 2 dollars) and some string. I think I spent like 5 dollars on making it and it came out pretty good. Doesn't need to be big.

Also, mold wont grow unless mold spores are present. If you have some type of ventilation and a way to manage Rh of the box you should be fine. I have a cheap hepa filter I picked up that helps eliminate the problem even before you have it.

Here's what it boils down to in the long run, Temps. If your temps from 3-4 inches from the bulb is cool enough for your hand they can be placed right under. Since light degrades over distance you wanna maximize your closeness in that sense. Since the weather is changing and I can run a constant 75 degrees during lights on. I usually let my lamp hover around 4 inches from my girls. Mind you that is with a 400w bulb. So the 150w will significantly be lower in terms of heat.

Now the thing about Co2 generators and growing with Co2 is that you need a closed room for it to even matter. I feel like it is more trouble than it is worth in my honest opinion. considering it isn't a one time cost. You need to replace them every 2-3 weeks and the efficiency of using them is debatable.

It may be cheap to make and it won't hurt the plant(for the most part. Co2 death is possible but not with a DIY Co2 Generator) The money can be used on something else(Unless you have all the materials now) I think you can use it on more lights which totally trumps a Co2 Generator.

That is just my suggestion. I wont be hurt if you decide otherwise. I am just giving you a different point of view. :thumb:
 
yeah and in reality man if i use gallon jugs for the co2 gen, i gotta change the ingredients every 3 days cause after that it just smells like whiskey and dont have any umph. your right though i need to pick up some warm CFLs cause im still using 2 daylight ones and 3 warms, i want all warms.
oh shit dude i checked on my ladies when the lights kicked on and in the pot with my clone was a little seedling and im scratchin my head like wtf?! and remembered i planted a tomato seed in that pot a few weeks ago and it never came up.......till now haha!
thats awesome! but sadly its gonna die. cause im not changing my light sched for a tomato plant. i have better things growing lol
