Peyton's Sour Sky Hempy Grow 2014

Nope. Most LEDs I've read work best at 18 inch. They require that distance to properly blend the spectrum. Any closer and they deminish effectiveness.

Edit. What tryshard said.

Hey ya'll! Amazing how many pages to read when you miss a day. Had a very busy day and over did it. Slept most of the evening.
My light is about 14" from the top of my girl. I don't think that spectrum from my Mars II 700 is diminished at all. But time will tell.Hairs are turning red all over and trichs are about 25% amber. Having never done this I don't know when to cut her down. She's been in plain ph'd DH2O for a couple days now. I am really holding back as long as I can. I tell you one thing, those leaves are going to taste good when I smoke them while the rest is drying/curing.

I am getting excited for my next grow. I will be trying a hempy, well 2 of them. I haven't decided on the nutrients as of yet. Thinking about Lucas again. But something different from FloraNova. Any suggestions? I am thinking about the generic GH Flora Bloom Stumped spoke about. But so many to choose from, I just can't make up my mind. I will start when I clean my tent after I harvest. Not much time to decide so I am up for suggestions.

I'm using general organics' whole line up and I'm very pleased thus far. We will know for sure soon after harvest how well they did. Good luck on hempy, those seem like an awesome idea. I might try one soon.

I am using the Flora three part on my coco lst grow and the plant loves it. I have updated it with some new pictures of the training.

Check it out.

I dunno that's just what I've read, and seen kingjohnc say 20 times to people asking, and hes sponsored by one of the led companies. Says they gotta be at least 18inch for the color bands to blend properly before they reach the plant. Just going by what I've learned.

As for nutes, I'm still a virgin lol I've used GH flora and fox farm I had a sample of 3 of there products. I ended up going with GH, because of price and my local shops sell GH and AN. So my choices are limited lol.

One part I left out about mixing your own GH bloom. Use r/o or distilled water.

25% amber?. I'd be chopping now! But that's just me.

It all depends, bud. Independent results may vary. Hah

I beg to differ, that's why there rated at certain distances. Hid wasn't originally designed for growing pot, that's why results vary sooooo much. These Leds are designed for growing hence why the industry suggest its rated distance. Because they know and you can see it yurslef if you have a spectrometer, at about 18 inch the colors blend into one.

Is this all bullshit the industry is tell us? THAT is a good question, and I can't wait to test for myself!

Someone just figured out 30 or 40 years ago or however long ago it was, a street light will grow pot indoors lol wasn't designed for growing like LEDs are. These particular LEDs.

I dunno just how I see things from my point of view and from what I've been extensively reading lol

I feel the need to put this, I'm not being rude or trying to sound like a know it all. Research I do, and this is what I understand. Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong lol but I think I'm right. Hhaahahah

Please elaborate if you got any input on it.

Stumped, I guess from what you are saying is that everyone that has low tent or room height should be using Flux technique. Or some way to keep buds low. Unfortunately for now my tent height is unchangeable at 62" and my LED face is about 14" below that, by way of tent designed hanging bars also unchangeable. My five gallon DWC bucket stands 14" tall. 62"-14"=48" floor to LED face. 48"-18" (minimum distance to plant)=30" from floor. 30"-14" (bucket top) = 16" maximum plant height in my tent. My plant I am waiting to harvest is 20" tall. Which equals 4" into that 18" line for proper LED spectrum blending. Jeez, I couldn't imagine a smaller tent height.

In the ideal scenario yes with low height scrogging, flux or some other type of lsting. after you saying what you just said got me thinking. LEDs must be designed more for grow rooms or full size height tents. Because your right, between light hangers, pot height and plant height. And now factoring in light distance. Almost need full 8 feet of headroom to grow a 3 foot tall plant.
I dunno my brain is always going, second sometimes third thinking everything. Perhaps abut too much. But spectrum blending does make total sense in my opinion.

Nothing what I'm saying, do I know first hand or nothing of course. I don't own a led yet lol. just what I've read.

I could get kingjohnc maybe to help answer this light distance thing. Or one of the other led guys.

I'm wondering if placing a sheet of glass on the LED so that the light shines through would reduce the length of space required for blending? just a thought...

Lol another fucking awesome idea. Dude you might be onto something here. A lense per say.

My plant grew nice. It is an auto, so 20" isn't unheard of. It might even be considered normal height. It can grow 20" to 48" by sweet seeds info. I might try these again depending on the smoke of my plant. I tell you what, this plant, as I grew it, would be great with SOG technique. Just thought, Colloidal Silver makes SOG cost efficient now. Well, I'll be darned. My plant was a 20" single cola plant. Perfect for SOG.

I've seen some 2-3 even 5 foot autos before. I'm pretty sure why yours only got 20" was because of the conditions, you had a high temp problem right? That will almost always slow growth and stunt the plant. Or light too close to plants. If its an auto and says it gets double what yours is, almost answers its own question there. Don't mean the plant isn't good by no means.

But.... A big but, this is your first grow right? Considering that and all the stuff you learned on the way. That's one nice fucking plant.
I've fucked up this strain I'm growing more times then actually successfully growing. They say my strain gets 3-4 feet. And until last crop I always had under 2 foot plants.

Another hypothesis.

The light already has a sheet of glass on the face. I think another might diffuse the light too much. I don't know but it might act like a polarizing lens with two pieces of glass.

Maybe. But what about non polarized or non tempered glass. I was unaware of they come already incased in glass lol

If I fabricate two straight bars to hang the LED from I might get an added 4". My tent came with three "bars" to hang things from. Maybe I could order 2 of the third type that is shown as it is designed for a inline fan and filter to hang. Or maybe that should be an option when buying a tent. If anyone buys a tent in the future under 8' tall, ask if it is possible to get the straight style hanger bars rather than the dropped style. My tent came with two dropped style bars and the pictures make it look like they are for the light. Four inches might make the difference with a DWC bucket and a plant lower than 20" tall. Bla bla bla
