Peyton's Sour Sky Hempy Grow 2014

They call them whatever the diodes x watts equates to. So 140 diodes x 5 watt diodes equals 700w. That's it. Now they also say that it draws 340w but mine draws 297 and the govs draws 300. I also have 2 400's which draw 186 and 195.

I don't add the w for reason of non-typist quality of my brain. Sometimes I add the w. Actually it should be upper case W.
It doesn't take much energy for a diode to produce photons. All diodes do and those that aren't designed to emit light in the visible range of our eyes emit IR photons. It's just the top layer material that let's us "see" the photon energy. It all has to do with electrons changing energy levels. That is where the Photons come from. When the electron changes energy level, up or down< photons are produced. The input watt value might not be the complete determining factor of the amount of photons coming from the electron level change. It would be better to use some other "power" value for LEDs for sure. Like I said photons per second per meter2 or even Lumens. It is a wild equation to formulate the photons produced by each LED and that would be different for each color (frequency). The Lumen value of my 700W light is something like 18,600. It is amazing that it only takes a little more than 317 input Watts to produce 18,600 Lumens. During my time in electronic engineering classes, unfortunately, diodes were tubes and all solid state devices were new technology. My 1st class FCC license test only two questions on transistors, only to identify NPN from PNP types. They don't even have FCC licenses anymore, but at the time I needed one with a RADAR endorsement. Naturally through twenty years of working in the field I gained some knowledge in solid state devices. But there are changes all the time and what I knew is no longer the latest technology. But I have read about solid state diodes and light emitting diodes (LEDs) and can understand why they use Watt to "try" to explain how powerful these lights are compared to HIDs. I also understand how difficult it is to rationalize those comparisons.

What each draws is determined by the controller as I understand it. Which is why each could be different. Remember they give a +or-5% deviation range.

K well asking me what I spend on bulbs is irrelevant lol I know how led lights work etc, I've but them for my salt water tanks. But when I tell people I got 150watts of LEDs on a tank. It is 150watts of power lol I don't say its 200watt or whatever the equivalent is. People say "damn that's bright" I say "because its LEDs" hahahahha
I think everyone missed what I was saying. I understand all of what u said. Why not sell it as a 400w as that is WHAT IT ACTUALLY DRAWS!! Not 700w lol that was my point.

Or did I totally miss something and there just called mars 700 not mars 700w.

Don't fret, I confuse myself at times lol

Cheers man.

I wasn't asking what you spend on bulbs. I was generically asking how often someone changes a bulb. I have heard a grower has to change MH bulbs often. And HPS have to be changed too. The question was not meant to be personally to you. Sorry. I didn't mean to sound like a smart ass either. I was wondering about the Watt values myself and did a little research. What I found satisfied my need to know.

What's up guys. I've been out in garage working again. Got my room all ready except for a door. It ain't pretty, but it'll be perfect for me. 42 inches by 48 inches by 8 feet tall. Pipe coming up 4 inches in middle of floor where they used to have a drain for a deep sink. Perfect for runoff. Just gotta light proof it and finish this indoor grow to move it all out. some of my trichs are cloudy, a couple amber, mostly clear. I just want them to fatten up now

Lol no no man. Guess I came across wrong. Sorry totally my fault.

I was just saying about actual watage balh blah it don't matter. I'm buying LEDs anyways, wasn't gonna not make me buy them, makes me want to buy them more so now lol

Cheers bro

Got back from scoping outdoor area. Tomorrow I'll plant em!

Making cannabutter now. Woo wooo

Sounds like a perfect footprint room, I want 1 more square foot.

I got a 400 or a 700 I want to get rid of. Never used.

Man I wish I could grow outdoors. Maybe in a couple years when laws change or I get an 8 ft privacy fence. Yeah, my 2 ft x 2 ft box was good for first grow, but now I'm a little more ambitious. Wanna take advantage of the light I have

Good luck with whatever procedure you are having. I have been through plenty surgeries and they are just a few uncomfortable days after. My triple bypass was the worst but believe it or not, the pain meds wer terrible. I always felt like I was rolling over backwards. I had three MOHS surgery for cancer and it always came back. I'm trying to make a plan to go to Cali to try the RSO myself. So the reason I am writing this cannateer is to ask where you would be getting the RSO? If you don't mind saying, if not publicly, just PM me.

Thank you so much. Both procedures went fine. Luckily they weren't as serious as your previous ones. That had to be rough. The liquid vicodin stings like crazy- I had my tonsils removed and a turbinate reduction in one shot.

I really hope you get some RSO. It's really worth it, especially so for cancer and all kinds of things. I live in a legal state on the west coast, so getting RSO is as difficult as picking up eggs at the store for me. I have bought a few different batches from different places and once got some very potent stuff. My life has changed for the good once I moved to the west. I'm sure cali has some good rso. Try to get the thicker stuff if possible. Concentrates should be light, honey colored with a decently sticky viscosity and RSO should be very dark brown/green with thick viscosity. Hope that helps. If you have any other questions just send me a pm.

The videos detailing how to make RSO seem pretty straight forward. I thought about doing it myself. It's easier than BHO and I think slightly less dangerous.

I used to have a reef aquarium and used MH lighting, as well as actinic HO. I changed bulbs ($80) twice a year or more depending on how much color was left.

I'm looking at almost never changing lights for the foreseeable future with 50,000 hours of light to use, minus a few hundred already used.

LEDs just make too much sense. Money, heat, end product, more discrete, less heavy, less maintenance, more spectrum... the list keeps going.

I don't sneer at people who have MH or HPS. I only hope they are planning on upgrading before our planet bursts and keels over. Hippies are supposed to be on Earth's side, right? If not for climate change at least for cleaner air and more habitable zones for wildlife. Accept hard science or not, I haven't heard a single sound argument for pollution. Anyone have a pro pollution argument?

I thought similar with growers and saving the planet, but every hippies grow room has more co2 coming out of it than all the loss of trees in the amazon

Not this hippy. My electric bill is under $100 every month. My emmissions are below the average household and I'm currently running 900 watts.

I'M not going to argue the impact on rainforest depletment, it's far worse than even commercial growing across the globe creates. That certainly isn't a fair comparison considering the loss of species forever. It's really not even close.

In terms of emissions, my nuclear electricity isn't making the kind of impact you seem to think. Vehicles and deforestation, along with desertification and livestock are the real culprits, not elecricity derived from nuclear energy. That's a bit of a cannard made by anti-cannabis conservatives who don't understand energy or pollution.

However, I'm right there with ya. All the more reason to make your grow more efficient. No arguments there.

Sometimes at least advocating efficiency has more of a positive impact than those who will just point a finger, so they don't feel guilty with their gluttonous consumption. Sure, those damn hippies use a lot of energy, so they are total hypocrits when advocating efficiency, right?

Do you have any idea how much of an impact a single bonfire has in terms of pollution? Now combine that worldwide and the hippies aren't even making a scratch in comparison. No, hippies aren't major culprits, or you would have to first attack commercial growers, both cannabis and agricultural. Any idea how much water is wasted in fields growing food? It's global impact is tenfold the hippies'. How about leaving lights on across the world 24/7? Really think home cultivators are on par with that? I know for a fact they aren't. Buildings keep lights on in the winter to simply heat them with the ballasts. Wanna know how much energy is used to run the internet? Just to cool the servers alone is gargantuant.

It's just really not that simple. Certainly not on par with deforestation period.

Cows spewing their methane everywhere lol. I keep my electric bill under 70 bucks a month, and my TV is on 20 hours a day. I veg with cfl and flower in led. I try to leave no footprint. Plus as a stay at home dad, I drive nowhere, so even smaller. But a lot of that is also because of a lack of money. If I had a lot of money, I'd have much bigger grows lol

Sorry I only read the first few lines. 100$ a month????? For 900w. Your talking just the lights right? Not including your household power usage?
If not are u using witchcraft? Please share! I figure my 1kw hps alone is going to cost me 90$ a month. Still haven't got my first bill since upgrading from 400w to 1000w. We get billed bi monthly and I'm expecting a big jump. And it will decide if I can afford to keep running the 1000w

Cheers

I might be interested. PM me the figures if you would. I was just looking earlier. I was also thinking about one of those that has switches to change to just blooming or vegging. I'm using a Mars II 700 Watt now.

Gotta watch it with the reflector that has switch, cause the fan only runs when it's in flower mode. So running it on veg only could easily overheat it. Don't know why they did that

But it would still be an efficient grow. Probably much more efficient than your setup now since you would purchase all LEDs I assume. The future is bright and efficient. Heh

Do you have an LED tv? I got one this year on black friday. A nice 3D, too. 24 hrs, huh? Is it NPR, or fox and friends? Lolol jk, jk I know a couple people who run those channels all day. Wait, you said you have kids. It's on nickelodian and cartoon network, huh? You sound like a cool dad.
