Peyton's Sour Sky Hempy Grow 2014

That would be awesome. Just sucks that I hate liquor. Blew it in their faces, that's the way to do it! Couldn't sneak the bottle into carry on? Bet that was a fun flight home lol

I always travel with about 1/4 rolled in four plastic bags and folded into socks put into bathroom bag (shaver, toothbrush, aftershave etc) anyways put bags through me and ex were walking through as two Feds come over looked at us grabbed my misses and searched her. She doesn't smoke and never has, I was stoned outta my mind having just finished a couple of jays before the flight. It got me thinking, there must be some pricks out there that make the mrs carry their shir so they don't get busted. Cause at the time I had beard, messy hair and sunglasses on at night. If anyone looked like they would be carrying something, well it wasn't her.

Thank goodness for the multiple answer feature of this forum, can't believe how many pages I just had to go through to catch up.

Thanks! I'm just anxious. My tent is 2x3x5 tall.
I had a problem with heat this grow. I am concerned about the next grow. So I am considering a 4" fan and carbon filter with some duct to exchange air in tent. Any idea how much it will lower ambient temp? And how noisy they are. Do I need a silencer?
Thanks for any help.
I have seen the 4" combo units on sale on ebay for around $120. One of the sponsors of 420 has variable fan controllers for around $15 they work great for reducing noise. The fans are usually loud at full speed but quite at 3/4. At least thats how my 6" one works. Don't get a booster fan, it needs to be a inline cooling fan, check the CFM.

Awesome work. I know I'll hit the 1 ounce mark with this plant. I'll probably never have 1000 watts worth of light because of electricity bill, and 1 gram per watt seems like the fevered dream of a madman to me.
The cost for my 1000W HPS is 69 a month for Bloom 12/12 and 102 for veg 18/6. You can calculate yours here Electric Usage Calc its better to know for sure than guess. Just get your electricity bill and divide your total electricity cost by your KWH. Mine was .174.

For the record, all the new technology has most people clamoring for a common denominator to do direct comparisons, and yes, to see who's "widget" is best. One of the easiest and most basic is overall weight. I personally want to get a certain yield simply to satisfy my needs, but the most important thing is striving for that true connoisseur quality...however you may measure it. For me, it's aroma, flavor, potency, color and density, then yield. That may change as I intend to step up my extraction game and start growing for high-quality hash.
:yummy:

Quality and Quantity, is attainable. I got the quantity, and I've done everything possible to enhance quality.

P5154520.JPG

I feel you on the connoisseur quality. That's the most important factor, or else I'd still be buying Mexican ditch weed. I just want to make the most of what I got.

I've think you've done that your plants look great.

Lol widget?

Governmentchz I did forget about that aspect. Quality I miss quality bud lol. All my shit has been, well good but lacking. One batch will smell good but taste funny. One tasted nice but looked like a bag of green popcorn. And another looked, smelled and tasted like shit. Still got 4oz or so of that in the freezer.
All made good hash, so if I can't get my quality up I'm just going to gumby all my bud into hash. Even the shittiest of bud, as long as its fresh frozen it makes good hash lol well the way I do it at least. I've smoked it with 65 year old hash heads and they begged to buy it off me. So I can only imagine what kinda hash good bud makes.

To meet those 3 things I said. is half the battle. To do all that while growing the strains to there full potential meaning quality. That's a goal to achieve.

Jesus I talk alot in your thread payton, sorry bro lol

Cheers.
Peyton is easy to talk to.

I read a journal of someboby's that got over a pound from this plant. It was the first journal I read and the strain didn't have a name yet. He was growing it for Dutch Passion. I think it was on 420. Not sure. It might have been Iceman or something like that. Not sure. Memory sucks

Definitely gonna look into the auto pounder, and also check out that fast and vast. I would love to get a huge yield in a short amount of time! Thanks for doing the legwork guys, sometimes I get lazy, and most of the time I can't get it in my head that a short lived plant can produce like that. Gonna make a new seed wish list

I think the key is to figure out what you want to do. Do you want to grow a plant that yields a lot, or maximize the amount you can grow in a limited space and limited lights with the best quality. If you want a big yielding plant there are lots of ways of doing that with a long veg being one of the primary factors. But one Flux plant would take up most of my 4x4 tent and the time it takes to do it properly only adds to the potential problems you come across. A Scrog or SOG with LST or Super Crop will give you more yield/M and quicker. Its why the commercial growers do it that way. If you pay attention use quality nutes and attend to problems right I mean right away, will result in the high quality also. This is my first grow and without appearing to be bragging "I did good" by taking in everything from every resource and filtering it down to what I can handle, has proved to be a good formula for me.

Yeah, it seems most of us in this thread are all new growers. But it's good cause it only forces us to get better and help each other. If I was on a different cannabis related site, I know I would get shit on by the advanced growers. I've read their sites and they can be mean. But we get graced with kindness from the likes of governmentchz and light addict, and all you other guys who really know your shit!

90% of all knowledge attained in growing MJ came from here, I agree.

I really didn't realize your situation till the last few days. Well tonight actually. And I'm glad to help :)

Onto a game plan for ya. Have you thought of cloning and doing perpetual? I'm sure we can track down some high cbd seeds for you. Cloning isn't hard, I've got it figured out to a point where I can sustain a perpetual grow. 6 plants every 30 days gets chopped and 6 new ones added total of 12 in my flower room constantly , my yield I won't know for another 2 weeks or so. I just upgraded my light.
From what I've read perpetual is the best way to keep constant supply of cannabis going and it saves a shit load of time not going from seed every time.

I agree, that way you wouldn't need a pound a time, if you were able to harvest once a month you would need less.

I might see about getting a loupe if they're that cheap. Probably easier to handle than a pair of binoculars

I bought my 30/60 Power lighted one on Ebay for $6.00

Govermentghz , how do you feel about perpetual for faster yields vs full crop growing. I think it would be his best bet to do a perpetual. For 2 reasons. 1 its a constant supply, 2 if something goes werong with a batch the next one isn't far behind.

Cheers

Another good reason for perpetual.

I totally agree Stumped. Getting a perpetual going, though, could take more space depending on what you really want to do and for cancer treatment (and epilepsy), you need larger amounts of product to be able to refine what you need from it anyway.

Depending on needs, I would set up my largest, best-ventilated area for flowering and keep a closet or something for veg and/or moms. Veg for at least 4 weeks and put them into flower. Wait a month and pop a few more seeds. After 4 weeks, the first crop should be ready (or close to ready anyway) and off you go.

Looks like a workable plan.

some pics from today, and some pics i tried to take through a pair of binoculars. its very difficult to take pics that way.

Nice Update

That sounds like a good plan. Any recommendation on best way to quick dry? That'll give me something to do next week

Do you want quick or good? You could give DC420's boiling water method a shot. He says it cured quicker and resulted in super tasty bud. I plan on doing it with my single plant when its ready, and still debating on my six plant grow.

Macguyver was the man! Yeah, he'd find a way to grow a sativa in a dark cave.

I have the first season on DVD. I remember being in awe of him when I was younger. Watching it now, it is hard to believe I ever that gullible.

Who wouldn't?! Been reading your grow with them and they are some sweet looking plants!

Easier to make a tincture. You can even use rum or whiskey. I had some with rum once. In Las Vegas.

Tinctures are good, but I heard you can build up a tolerance very quickly using this method. I made some with tequila, gave it to an employee of mine. Told him no more than one shot give it some time, and he better be at work the next morning. He called in sick the next day, he had three shots and shared with his neighbors and they all called in sick, and have sworn off alcohol.

it is an alcohol based liquid. Soak the material, bud or leaf I don't know, in alcohol for a while. The stuff I had was in rum. Spray in mouth under tongue. Tasted like rum smelled like bud. I had to drink a whole bottle when I was at Vegas airport when I was chosen for a full search. I wreaked of cannabis. Blew it in the TSA's faces. My eldest son was married in Vegas. Had to trash the bottle. Too bad it was from my friend's dispensary.

You need to activate the THC to make a tincture, by heating up to a certain temp.

Ok done, lots of activity, I need to check more than once a day.

That's a lot of good info! And thanks for the kind words, I'm very proud of my plants for a first grow. And them monsters you got going are amazing. When it gets to that time, I will be trying the boiling roots method for sure. Quicker dry and partial cure, I like it!

Plant looks good today. I used some garden wire to move some of the buds for better exposure, and did a very light defol to expose more of the lower sites to good light. Gonna take an hour off my light schedule today to 11/13. Other than that just another regular day.

Also. Word to the wise, quick dry ALWAYS makes for lesser quality end product. I've tried them all. Microwave works best if your in a pinch wrap it in paper towel nuke for 10 seconds, put in freezer for 2 min. Repeat till dry. 3 or 4 times does it.

Slower the better I find. I hang mine for 4-5 days, with a fan on them in a room about 75f with 30 40% humidity. Then put in sealed bags in the freezer for 3 days. Taking the bags out daily, dumping them all in a bowl and let them sit for 20 min to release some moisture then back in the freezer.
Never got a chance to properly cure yet, I always smoke it all before proper cure time lol but the above way is the best way I've found to dry out my buds at a decent rate. Smells good, tastes good and a nice buzz. Microwave and pretty much every other fast dry method I've tried took from smell and taste, but the buzz was the same.
Smell and taste is half the battle for me.

I don't plan on pulling anything off early or trying to quick dry my harvest. Gonna boil the roots like dc420 does and then hang and dry like normal. I'll jar it up and hopefully half of it will get a proper cure, the other half will probably be smoked before then

Yea I tried boiling roots. Made a fuckin mess and I didn't notice anything different in end product, or drying time. Maybe I did it wrong. I boiled for 30 seconds. After the plant dried and my wounds healed from the whooping the wife gave me for making a huge mess lol.

I concluded it was a waste of time for me. But then again I always manage to fuck shit up.

I could imagine the crap I'd get from my better 3/4. Like you I always make a mess of shit. If I could bag air, I'd make a mess all over the floor.

I am going to read about boiling the roots. If there might be something to it I might try it. I'll be ready for the spanking tho.

Thanks TrysHard for your input about the fan. Does slowing down a 4" make it quieter? Looks like the quietest 4" I have seen is 51db. I run two fans in my tent now. One is a 6" clip on and the other is a 6" "purifier" fan that that has a ozonator and a carbon filter. I am just using it for sucking the air out of the tent through a 6" vent on top of the tent. I removed the filter because the Red Poison doesn't have much odor. And I made an ONA bucket that works pretty well. I used a 2 gallon bucket with a top and a 4" fan. There are three rows of holes drilled in the bucket. I once put 3 frozen drinking water bottles, small ones, in it and used it like a small air conditioner. Dropped tent air temp about 1 -2 degrees. A bigger fan and bucket and more ice would do better I think.

U got a 400w led right?

Mars2 400w; actual draw 200w
Mars2 700w; actual draw 300w[/QUOTE]

I do believe the input power for the Mars 2 700w is something like 348w. But that makes the diode put out 90% of it's photon potential. And gives a 50,000 - 100,000 hour life. I'd give up 10% for longer life and lower bills. How often do you have to change a MH or HPS bulb? Watts are something that the industry uses to try to show an equivalence to HID lights. Not actually a good rating system for LEDs. Photons per second would be much better. But that would be confusing because people are so used to Watts. Watts are sort of a measurement of power and it is mostly used to describe power wasted, as in heat radiated. Which is why electric heaters are rated in watts but they sometimes also add BTU. British Thermal Units. But mostly Watts are used. I like my Mars 2 700 but I will get a 900 or 1200 when my grow area changes. And have a veg area and a flower area. I can't wait. But I have to as of now.

Sorry my error... "Actual power consumption: 110V : 334W+-5%" So that could mean 317 or 350 or any where in between. By their sales site on ebay. Where I bought my light.

K well asking me what I spend on bulbs is irrelevant lol I know how led lights work etc, I've but them for my salt water tanks. But when I tell people I got 150watts of LEDs on a tank. It is 150watts of power lol I don't say its 200watt or whatever the equivalent is. People say "damn that's bright" I say "because its LEDs" hahahahha
I think everyone missed what I was saying. I understand all of what u said. Why not sell it as a 400w as that is WHAT IT ACTUALLY DRAWS!! Not 700w lol that was my point.

Or did I totally miss something and there just called mars 700 not mars 700w.

Don't fret, I confuse myself at times lol

Cheers man.
