Peyton & Pals Perpetual Playground

Exactly what I'm looking for. Don't seem like anyone wants to explain it. There's gotta be an answer, nothing is a mystery. I'm guessing, only guessing its the lux. Led put out more lumens then HPS, but HPS puts out more lux. Same with cfl.
Lumens are equated from lux x watts or something like that. Not looking anything up as I post this, just gathering a start point to start expieremnting with.

Anyways. Lol
Going to be shopping for a actual 400-600w led over the winter. Bigger then a mars 2 400 but smaller then a mars 700. Or wait, what's the actual watts on the 700s?

I'm wondering if HPS finishes sooner as it's a more stressful light source for the plants whilst LED is more gentle?
Mars 700 draws 300w for you guys in the US

Thanks skunny. Wish I would have had the extra money when I ordered mine to get that light instead. But I don't mind sticking with scrog grows. I'm gonna have to keep an eye on wildjim's auto grow to see how big they get. Might end up having to bend them over to get whole plant lit with my mars II.

Well maybe. But from my understanding plant stress prolongs times, not shortens. Possabable the opposite of what u said maybe. If a plant finishes in 8 weeks indoors and also 8 weeks outdoors, but under led takes 9 weeks. Tells me you maybe onto something, but Possabably reversed.
I've stressed plants in the middle of flowering and it took the plants an extra week to finish. Never thought of that aspect.

Is fuckin expensive. I can't afford it till after Xmas anyways.
I could build a led light, damn drivers are what's kills ya. Ones I built for saltwater, took 10 90w drivers to match my old 600w metal halide. In coverage and coral quality. And each driver was 180$ lol

That's cool too build your own, but damn that's pricey. Expecially for ten of them. I would just stick with mh in that case.

Off the wall question, my dad wants to dig a big fishing pond someday and stock it. How long does it take to grow algae and everything to support fish life?

It all adds to the fun adapting your plants to your light. I've got my eye on an Osram fitted panel for my next light, I've emailed them today for some info before I set my heart on it. They are built in the UK & cost £800 or $1326 in your money. I'm not throwing that amount of money at anything without my questions answered & it's going to be Nov/Dec when I've got enough money unless I can sell some of my stuff to fund it.

When I build ponds I let them run a month before adding stock. Let the filters cycle and build up. But to be honest it depends on his stock. If just goldfish they can go in right away lol, koi fish can be more delicate so I let the ponds cycle a month. It can take years to establish breeding conditions, but survival conditions are quite a bit less demanding.

Tell him to make sure he digs the ponds at least 3 feet deep so the fish can survive during winter. And look into building a natural pool filter for it. Commonly used for. But work great on ponds. Basically a second smaller pond raised up filled with pea gravel with a pump, pumping from the pond to the bottom of the gravel pond, then overflows clean water into the main pond. Works well and is much cheaper then buying or making bucket filters.

He would use it for fishing, blue gill, bass, catfish, stuff like that. He wouldn't put a filter or pumps in. Just all natural. And probably about 6 to 8 feet deep, about an acre in length and width, and probably drop a few trees in there for fish to hide around.

Man, they sure look good. I like a SOG it always looks so nice and powerful. A sight to behold!

Figured I'd take pics before lights on this time. See what I mean 25 plants would fill it in better. Lots of wasted light.

Rainy day here again. Hope it brings temps down in flower room. I know it won't help with humidity though. Can't get it lower that 60 percent in there, but I have good airflow, so mold shouldn't be a problem.

Afternoon wildjim. Them girls do some growing overnight?

Ah he's building a small lake. Tell him to check with local laws first. I know up here we have to take out permits and get eco assessments to build stuff like that.

Back to the question, without a filter or any sort of stratification (pond would have to be minimum 10meeter deep) for nature to take over filtering. And it could take 10 years for everything to stabilize for perminant homes for game fish. Basically if u fill a hole with water its just going to become stagnant like any bog u come across, not much lives in there.
Water needs to be deep enough to circulate its self with temperature changes.

Thanks stumped. I'll have him check into all that. I know there are a couple lakes near us that don't get any deeper than 6 feet, but they've been established for a very long time. If all else fails I'm sure he'll just buy a property that already has a big pond on it. He's retired and wants to have his own private fishing pond or live on lakefront property
