Thats what I mean by calling them flat tops a crowning bud. Funny that's the way my Black Puppy does,, unlike all the others I've seen,, their buds were typical,, 'pointy tip'.

@Kingjoe83 here are two flowers starting to foxtail, the calyx begins growing one on top of the other. Eventually these will look like long skinny spires sticking out of the flower.

How much do you think buds get bigger after you backbuild them? I think it is a gamechanger

Those are naturally shaped that way, I've done @Light Addict backbuilding before and while it gives you the nice round shaped nugs it really doesn't add much weight

I compared some backbuilded and regular tops in my earlier grows. I think it adds volume to the upper side of the cola where it is exposed to more light. My cabins are always very small and crowded with tops. I always have space and stealth issues so I am trying all I can to increase my harvest. Can we say that the difference in weight caused by backbuilding is bigger in smaller cabins? Light can never reach to the lower half of the colas in such crowded grow tents.

Not really sure, it just changes the shape of the Bud. It can no longer grow up so it grows outward.
