PeeJay's Perpetual Porta-Scrog Party

Everyone was thirsty and a little droopy for today's photos. They haven't had water since late Wednesday. It was also time to thin things out and get set for bud swell. Day 28 of flower - ~35 since they flipped.

We'll start with the ugly.

Wonky Chitral - my bane. Even with her small flowers she can't hold herself up and was just flopping everywhere. I cut pieces of vinyl covered fencing and made vertical supports by pushing one end of the fence strips into the soil and then zip tying them to the screen. I also used some loose zip ties to fasten the stems to the vertical supports. She got a general undercarriage clean up. Suckers and useless leaves were removed.

In her defense, she is a total berry bomb and the flowers look pretty tasty.

The greener Chitral is doing better than wonky girl. She got a little thinning out and undercarriage cleaning, too.

Panama is the belle of the ball this week - a real beauty. Couldn't be more pleased with her. Got the same treatment as the others.

I had to add one vertical support to the Golden Lemons and she is going to need more. She is packing on weight faster than the others.

All had a drench of 1tsp / gallon of 2-3-1 fishy ferts.

Looks like you might need a two story scrog for Golden Lemons next run. She is wearing that scrog around her ankles like a fallen hula hoop.

 All of 'em except the green Chitral look like that, Rado. That screen 6" above the soil is more about training for multiple tops than supporting bud weight. Lord knows what all I'm going to need to do when they start really adding bud weight. I better get a new ball of twine...

Read through from front to back and subbed.

Love the porta scrogs, these may just convince me to try them!

I also agree about the monoclonal system. Once I get really settled with my hunger games winners and my king tut and thc bomb seeds the plan is to do 3/4 of my flowering as monoclonal with one small section of tasters and testers. It is soooo much easier to be consistent with the same types of plants. Like one giant plant with multiple root balls.

I'm pretty happy with the Porta-SCRoGs, Shiggity. The two reveg Chitral clones sort of ruin the effect a bit. Four of those Panamas or Golden Lemons would look pretty nice... As a group they are pretty much testing the capacity limits of the space. So far it's not too difficult to take them out of the tent and rotate 'em but loading them back in there after giving the 10 gallon pots a good watering is not the easiest maneuver. Having the screen that low eliminates the common problem of having to water under a SCRoG screen. I can just part the canopy and snake the spout of a watering can through the holes on the screen but I think the days of watering them outside of the tent are over. It'll be interesting to see how much all the branching effects bud swell.

Update time. Once again the plants are too thirsty. I returned from being away yesterday evening and should have watered them right away but didn't want to deal with the extra weight if I was going to pull them all out and update today. Hopefully I'll be home more in the coming weeks. Compounding the dry soil I'm wrestling with very low humidity ~ 15-20%. Oh well.

I'm going to start with wonky Chitral again because she has always looked rough and will probably continue to look rough. The berry smell is insane. I've been craving a blueberry muffin all morning since I dragged her out of the tent. The plants are on day 35 of flower and the Chitral is a fast finisher. For more that 1/2 way through flowering this plant looks sad. It is what it is.

I'm going to start monitoring the temperatures in the greenhouse. I suspect in two weeks I'll be able to move them outside to purple up. I just need a week or ten days that I can keep them from freezing.

Golden Lemons is adding bud weight. This is a ten week strain according to the breeder so right about the halfway point. It still has a great, sharp, lemon aroma. This plant is bouncing back pretty well from last weeks defol.

Panama is cranking. It is not adding bud weight as fast as the Golden Lemon but this pheno went 12 weeks out in the greenhouse so I expect it to take it's time.

The plants are all paying the price from my failure to be around to care for them. All things considered it ain't so bad. All plants were topdressed with 1 part castings, one part Yum-Yum, and two parts fresh soil.

Here they are stuffed back into the tent.

I think I need to neglect my grow so it looks like that. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hey PeeJay!

I am way too late to the party it seems with pics like this going out! Just fantastic! Love those porta scrogs too. Yours are much better than my tent puncturing messes that I put together.

This looks like Forth of July and New Years Day put together!

The best thing about not being able to fondle and love your plants to death a couple of times a day is you also always have a ready excuse when they don't look quite as good as you think they might.

:cough: :circle-of-love:

Looking forward to the Puppet Master let loose with his ball o twine, lol.

Great job PJ.

Keep em green and sticky :peace:

Heaven knows I tend to overfill my spaces and end up MacGyvering all kinds of nonsense to keep things in control... All in all it's more fun than looking around and thinking; "I have wasted space."

The funny thing about training is that different strains react differently to different types of training. That Panama has taken to the low screen SCroG training like a fish to water. When I look at that plant, if the two reveg clone Chitrals can read my mind, they fear for their lives. Then, I smoke some of the sweet berry goodness from the last Chitral harvest and know they need to live a couple of weeks more... I wish Panama had a little more room since she is just beginning to bulk up. She's going to be a beauty.

I received a nice birthday gift from my brother today which is suprising. He lives in another country and I don't see him often. He was here over the holidays for a spell. My last words to him were, "you were a gromless, winging, twat as a child and you are a gromless, winging, twat as an adult. F38k off!" Brothers... He sent me a new DSLR. Need to figure it all out. Here is a Panama picture I took with flash in the dark tent while I was messing around with it. Brixy looking stuff.
