PakaloloHawaii's LED High Brix Perpetual!

So a word to the wise. You get what you pay for! Funds were tightest year when I needed a tent so I went the ebay route and scored a 4x4 for $100. Good deal right?! It came and the materials were pretty nice, but not really. Flimsy poles really didn't like my heavy marsII hanging from it, and the stitching left something to be desired. Also the number and locations of the extraction ports could be given some more thought.

Really though it's the flimsy poles that got me. I had my big phresh filter sitting on a bucket on the floor of the tent in fear of hanging and collapsing everything. It prob could hold but shit why risk it.

I also hate the double door zip down the middle shit.

Fast forward to last night where I opened and set up my new Secret jardin dr120 2.5. Damn this thing is extremely well done. More and better ports. Love the single zip door much easier. Very very very sturdy feeling poles and equipment hanging tubes. No pinhole leaks. No smell from new tent. Also love the side doors, now I can spray the back plants without moving everything.

I'm really stoked.

Side note, I'm having mixed feelings about my light in my veg tent so I've been considering getting a 80x5w marsII to replace it. Lower wattage too save me some electric. However, icemud and a couple others are trying those intelligentgro lights and I gotta say I'm very interested in the tech. Only $50 more than the marsII for the smallest one 114w I think. Even more electric savings, and I'll be able to test the little bugger out too. Only thing holding me back is that I need a veg light, and the intelligentgro really seems like it shines in bloom. Not that it doesn't veg well, as it very likely does, but so do CFLs. So I'm on the fence still. If I get the marsII, i can always add it to my flower tent later to accommodate a younger shorter plant. Decisions decisions. I'll prob wait till ice is finished with his round to decide if I'm gonna take the intelligentgro plunge. I sure do like the ideas there. I'd prob like it so much I'd freak out and want to sell my big marsII and spend a grand upgrading my flowering light too. I better staY awayyyyy

Nice update, Tavosvo! Looking colalicious. :)

Congrats on the new tent also. I have one of the lower priced 4 x 4 tents. It's not the greatest, but it works and holds up my heavy light alright. At least the corners are metal and not plastic.

If money wasn't an issue for me, I'm sure I would have gone for a higher quality product. Maybe next time.

Metal corners sound nice! I'm fairly sure you must have found a better product than me!

Ok. These blue hammers are almost there. Both BH got their final dose of transplant the other night. The cocoa lady is beginning of week 9, definitely a faster finishing pheno. She smells incredible. Bitter chocolate, overripe fruit, hint of citrus and lemon, touch of fuel. Very greasy looking and feeling buds. She got a light watering last night, and I'll give her one more in a few days, then, assuming she's looking real close, give her a heavy flush and energy dose, wait a day or two then chop. Sometime next weekend I think.

BH#3 is interesting. Lots of hairs. Still pushing white pistils, but finally starting to fatten up. Not too strong smell, sweet and light would be a good description. A bit of bubblegum. I hope the smoke is tasty, that is my most important attribute a strain must have. Nice smell, tasty smoke. If she is bland - good bye. She gets same treatment as the cocoa lady, but I'll just keep giving her energy until she's ready. Who knows how long that'll be. 2, 3 weeks?? Lol starting to look a bit tired so I'll have to balance ripeness with happy plant.

Doc, what do you think about watering her with a EWC slurry/tea? Hard for me to top dress just castings, I have a layer of hydroton on my soil. The watering before her final dose of transplant I top dressed with some quick start I had from my first kit, thinking that the bennies could use some food. Wondering if some castings will keep her trucking till she nice and plump.

I think you should try it! Just don't add molasses.

I think you should try it! Just don't add molasses.

Thanks doc. I was thinking tea in the sense of letting it brew for half a day or so. No molasses..blackstrap high in K I believe?

I made some fantastic edibles yesterday..spiced oatmeal and cranberry cookies, my specialty, ganja style. They are too fucking delicious, so I normally make them real weak so I can eat a few with no concern, and 5 or 6 with intent. But my friend hooked me up with an ounce of...something. It definitely wasn't washed high brix, and it barely qualified for decent low brix/standard, but maybe my scale is skewed. Anyway it was shit to smoke, so there went that ounce into two sticks of butter, and consequently into my cookies.

Friend's bday was tonight. A few cookies, many beers to some local band at a bar by my house, and a joint or two later - I've ended up here, late at night in the quiet of my home. Girlfriend sleeping and silent. Grow room/office bustling with growth and life and ideas!

My lights turn on at 6pm so I save my gardening till late at night. The lady gets fussy if I spend too much time in the 'office' while she is home. She doesn't smoke, or care for pakalolo very much at all. Actually she complains about it half the time, but she must love me because the other half the time it's no big deal and she appreciates my way with plants.

So again, here we are late at night, doing what I do late at night..think about ganja pakalolo cannabis and surfing..waves sure have been fun recently. Summer is here, which is great because I'm fucking tired of driving to the north shore. Seriously. I must have drove out there close to a hundred times this season. Summer also means outdoor growing season. I got some scrub beans that grow weak and shitty but make some delicious smoke..they'll get run this summer. I also have a bunch of purple OG #18 F2s a friend made, vegging some now and will flower sooner than later; I'll search out a mom and take some cuts and run those as well. Maybe it's time for an outdoor journal.

I'm a shitty veg tent journalist. I mean, I stoked about it, but I bet you guys don't give a fuck about some little seedlings hahhaha so I don't post that shit here. I popped a bunch of beans though. Can't remember if I mentioned any. Purple OG #18 and huckleberry kush are the stars of the next show. POG, lol , here that is usually passion orange guava! Haha yes tropical flavored dankness please! I need my day dream hazes to kill it. So far I have two plants left...preflowers starting to show...and they're not lobster claws or a ball on a stick so I'm really expecting girls, but I've had shit luck with my beans last few months I wouldnt be surprised in the least for my next round of girls to be boys and fuck my whole show up. Maybe my exuberant negativity is unfounded, and I'll find a keeper girl. Thoughts are things. Those two plants are bud producing broads. Yes females. Think positive......also popped what I think is confidential cheese x POG18. The cheese was from same friend that make the POG F2s, so I'm hoping the seed I found while busting up a nug of that cheese is a pretty lady. Not really sure where that seed came from..it was on the couch after I bust up the nug, but I didn't see it fly..and we were smoking some F2 seeded POG the other week, so it could be one of those..but weird that It would have stuck around that long, I mean it wasn't in a crack on the couch, it was right in the middle of a cushion like it was sitting there expecting me to pass it the joint I was rolling.

Jeez those cripberry potmeal cookies got me all talkative and rambling man.

I came here originally to voice an idea concerning sativas vs indica and the way we time the drenches and recharge the soil and accommodate heavy feeding, short flowering indices, and long flowering, light feeding sativas. Well I guess it's less of an idea than a topic of discussion. I think that with how much timing affects the kit, we should work on basic guidelines for indices, sativas, short/long flowering plants, salt lovers/low feeders. I'd love to time a cat drench with a sativas second pistil push and fatten her up gradually over the next 6-8 weeks, and I'd love to give my hungry kush everything it needs, at just the right time in its short life.. I'll be taking notes and doing my best to come up with something useful to all. Phenotype variation is leading me to dig deeper into kit timing and how well we can cater to our beloved plants needs.

Aloha for tonight everyone. I'm sure I'll read this all tomorrow and have something to say about something I said, however idiotic or brilliant. LOL. Please chime in if you have the time, talking cannabis growing philosophy with my lady is similar to conversing with a brick wall.

You are so on the right path bro. I also stay up late/get up early thinking about growing.

You, Curso, Graytail, Canuck, Sir G and too many others to mention by name(and I'm leaving out some key people, not on purpose) along with me, are writing the directions each and every day in the grow room. The bottom line is that this hasn't been done before!

We see how different plants turn out using this method. They take longer to finish...I'm having greater yield across the board now, and of course we recognize the taste and effect being unique from everything else. All of us sharing is producing data, which will be used to improve what we're doing.....already has improved it quite a bit.

What I'm doing right now is trying to keep my garden alive while I manage my other affairs, which are quite pressing at the moment. I look forward to having "leisure" time in the garden again, but I never stop thinking about the stuff you brought up.

One thing I can tell you about pure Sativa's in general is that they seem to be VERY light feeders and can be quite sensitive to salt buildup in the medium. Indica's tolerate a little more, while some of the hybrids aren't happy until you really bump the egs up into "bad" territory.

Use your intuition. You're getting to know the plants and products pretty well now....go with your gut, record the results and keep us all posted. I read these journals, watch and listen, try stuff at home, etc.

It's helping!

Aloha brah! hope all is going cherreh for ya.

Kind of bummed I wasn't able to deliver with my first brix run but it was a learning experience and will be back at it soon enough.

You do a great job in your tent journaling. I always like how you posted and your plants looked fire always. auuuurryyyyyttttteee.

Have a good sunday and get a couple waves for this guy I am landlocked until I can make some money of get to da beach.

Man T that was a well winded thought post!!

I too have been thinking the same things aswell...im running all hybrids right now but plan to try some pure strains both indica and sativa...been looking at the world of seeds landraces Wild Thialand for the Sativa and afgani kush for the indica.

Till then i have arjans haze #1, nevilles strawberry haze and delahaze for the Sat domiant strains ill be running sometime soon but till then i dont really have much i can add from personal experience in the feeding/drench timing ect. for landraces but will continue to post my findings as discover i them and look forward to what you and everyone else find in the time to come!

Can't wait til I get my mars II. Free bump

Ok sorry for lack of updates. Blue hammer two got pulled the other day. I was super busy over the weekend so no pics of that one sorry. I'll have some dried bud shots and a smoke report in a couple weeks.

Here is blue hammer #3. She is rounding week 14. Still pushing some white pistils, and trichs are mostly cloudy, a few clear and amazingly no amber. Leaves look like shit LOL some green left. Got some really old crispy leaves haha old lady. Yellow and getting crispy up top, but still nice and green down low, not sure what that means.

Thinking 7gal just wasn't enough for her to go 14 weeks...she kinda looks like my first high brix grow I did outside in 5gal, kinda got crispy and yellow near the end. This time not so bad. This plant, while it grew some massive buds, didn't ever seem to exhibit the high brix traits we like. Leaves never got too shiny, and dark green, and a bunch had claw. I didn't think she would yield much but these buds are pretty dense and huge!

Anyway, almost week 14. Last week she got one last energy dose thinking chop was near, but the buds keep filling out, the pistils keep pushing white, and trichomes are 10/90 clear/cloudy.

Doc, how soon would you pick her? And if not right away, like today or tomorrow, any thoughts on how to keep her happy?

I did make an EWC slurry for her last week, and it seemed to put a little green back in the leaves.

She looks tasty no doubt about that!!:high-five:

it seems like everyone running Sat strains are getting the same issues as you are here...i wanna run my arjans haze #1 at like half strength drenchs the whole way and see what happens??

It's really hard to grow those long flowering monsters indoors.

I've heard that cutting the light cycle helps, but I don't have any numbers and I've never done it. Per your question Tav.....maybe try giving them a week with a shorter photoperiod?

On the other hand, the smoke will probably be rocket fuel....super up high.......

I know! Harvest the tops and let the rest go a bit?
