Outdoor Growing With BeezLuiz

I finally decided to harvest my remaining two plants. I took the first plant (AmnesiaX #2) 2 weeks ago due to bugs. It was a little early, but I didn't want to deal with the spider mites. I sampled some of it before cure, and was really happy with the high. It didn't last a very long time, but that's kind of what I expected from an early harvest. The yield was 81g (2.86 oz), which was actually a little better than I expected compared to my previous indoor grows in 3 gallon pots.

AmnesiaX #3 is a purple pheno... or just a completely different plant from the other two. It smells more potent and sweet than the other two. The trichomes were mostly cloudy with a few clear and and a little amber. Anyway, here's some pictures from Monday's harvest:

Since I left it to finish up in a small 1-gal pot, I didn't expect it to yield a whole lot... and it didn't. :laughtwo: But the buds were dense and frosty!

AnmesiaX #4 trichomes still looked a little bit early, but I think with the cold temperatures in my garage it wasn't going to ripen any further. Since it lasted 2 weeks longer than #2, I figured it was close enough.

Anmesia #4 was quite a bit larger than the other two plants (3-gal pot), and the buds were quite frosty. Looks and smells were very similar to #2.

Yield is going to be considerably higher than the other two plants. Nothing to brag about, but probably will be my highest indoor yield so far.

Speaking of my summer grow (huh? :hmmmm: ), I don't think I ever gave a smoke report of China Cat and Sensi Cheese. They've been in jars now for about 2.5 months so cure is done. Sensi Cheese smells great, but China Cat smokes better! :ganjamon: I'm not really great a sharing details about the high, but China Cat is very relaxing without being couch lock. It's probably my favorite (also my son's favorite) for now. To be honest, I haven't smoked a lot of the Sensi Cheese yet, but the aroma is wonderfully fruity, and nothing like a cheese (I really think the breeder gave me something other than Sensi Cheese).

That's it for now, I hope everyone's week is going smoothly. :Namaste:

Congratulations on the final harvests of the indoor grow! Great frost on all to go with the purple triches, fans, and sugars you got in there, and some nice flop on those lowers. You really maxed out the production in that 3 gallon.
:welldone:

I'm glad to hear you're fond of the China Cat since it was much easier to grow than the SCheese, but after all that effort I hope you can find a place for that one in the rotation!

If that's not something to brag about, what is?

and some nice flop on those lowers.
I should have taken a picture of the plant after I pulled off the 6 stakes holding up most of the plant. It was so floppy that one of the main branches partially snapped from the weight of the buds.
after all that effort I hope you can find a place for that one in the rotation!
Oh, Sensi Cheese will certainly gets it share of attention in the coming weeks. :Rasta:

Good point :laughtwo: Many of the folks around here pull much better yields from their indoor plants, but I'm happy with this plant since my indoor grows are nothing but plants on a table in my garage sitting under my NextLight Core with no environment controls at all (not even a fan).
Top job Beez, they look fantastic!
Thanks Stunger!

Full flop pics are the new black here so definitely get that pic next time. :)
For sure Beez, get those pics!

If your flop caused a partially snapped main branch you could have won a Floppy Award! 🙂

Congrats for some fine indoor plants!

Congrats on the dual harvests, Beez!:welldone:

and in the winter, too....
Whatever the environment, they sure liked it!
The cold brought out some sweeet colors..👍

Congrats on your harvests, Beez and way to go on getting your highest yield indoors!

And, thank you for the review of your China Cat. She was my favourite of your plants last summer.

Hi HH! I am enjoying my grow break, but now that Spring has sprung I'll soon be gearing up for my outdoor summer grow. I do not have a Levo machine, but I do have and Ardent Nova unit. I love it!

Dang, I guess I failed my test, lol. Thanks anyhow Beez. Glad to hear you’re gearing up, I always look so forward to your summer grow show. 🌳

Hi Everyone :ciao:
I want to give an update on my growing activities so far this spring. My brother found out that I make my own CBD oil (capsules) and now wants them, so I am plowing through the rest of my CBD buds pretty fast.

My plan for this summer's grow was to do one CBD plant and one THC plant outdoors. I purchased seeds from one of our sponsors (The Seed Fair). I chose CBD Harlequin advertised as 18% CBD and 1% THC and also bought Obama Runtz, Apple Tartz, and Acapulco Gold. The Obama Runtz is going to be my THC plant for outside.

I began soaking my seeds on April 11. The Obama Runtz quickly sprouted and got planted into starting mix. Unfortunately, the Harlequin did not germinate so I soaked another. It also did not germinate, so I soaked my last one. After a few days it still did not crack open so I purchased 5 Charlotte's Web which was advertised as 20% CBD and 0.3% THC.

Eventually, the last Harlequin did crack open and I planted it in starting soil mix. It finally sprouted on 4/26, but looked super runty. My Charlotte's Web arrived on 4/29 (quick shipment turnaround time) and I promptly soaked one of the seeds. It germinated and sprouted on 5/4. :yahoo:

Long story, short... I decided to grow both CBD plants indoors since I got such a late start on them, and put just the one Obama Runtz outside. Both CBD plants stayed quite small for the first couple weeks, but have now started getting their grove on. They are now in 5 gallon fiber pots under my NextLight Core. So far I'm just feeding them 3g/gal of Megacrop, but will eventually switch to Emerald Harvest nutrients once they get a little larger.
I topped Charlotte's Web above node 4 today, and topped Harlequin a few days ago.

The Obama Runtz is looking pretty happy outside so far. It's sitting in a 20 gallon fiber pot filled with FFOF. I also added in some extra perlite and some mycorrhizae.
It got topped last week. I decided not to plant anything in my SIPs (sub irrigation planter) because last summer's plant grew too big and was a ton of work. Plus it drank about $100 worth of nutrients. My tomato plants are loving the SIPs this season.

I hope all is well with everyone's gardens and families. :Namaste:

Hey Beez, I'm just getting into making caps (second run) and could use some tips. I have one of those 100 slot capsule filling trays that I used with a medicine syringe to fill them with my olive oil extract.

Turned out a bit messy and I can taste the oil on the outside of the capsules because of my efforts to fill them.

I have them in a glass jar in the fridge and they don't seem to be leaking so the taste likely comes from my processing.

I'd be interested to hear how you do yours.

I've heard good things about CW but have never seen anyone grow it so I'll tag along if there's room in the corner.

Can't wait to see the Obama Runtz tree that's going to become. :thumb:

Oh so we're down to quarterly updates now? Sheesh!

Must be a well-kept secret, or you only talk football. :)

I hear ya!

Given how much flower you'll need, why not transition those to outside and get a really good supply at summer's end?
I'd be interested to hear how you do yours.
I can tell you about mine if that will help. I took a drill and made this:

As long as don't try to work too fast with the syringe the outsides of the caps stay completely dry. And mine are stored in the cabinet because 2 batches (70 caps) only last about a month.

That's similar to the capsule tray I used. I had a few overflows as I was filling so that's likely the issue. I was mostly good, but it was a lot of repetitive, small motion action and I found it a challenge to consistently work the plunger to the right depth.

I'll get better with practice I'm sure.

I make mine with refined coconut oil (and a little lecithin). I prefer the taste over olive oil and the coconut oil solidifies just below room temperature so I've never had an issue with leakage. I still store them in my refrigerator though. I make mine in small batches -- about 3 oz for the finished product. That gives me about 100 or so capsules. Instead of a syringe I just use a small dropper and a homemade tray almost identical to Shed's.

Oh so we're down to quarterly updates now? Sheesh!
Sheesh indeed. :laughtwo: My bad. I'll try very hard to be better at posting.

Yes, that is something I am considering. I'll see how they grow for now.

Great minds... :thumb:

Wow, look at me - two updates in one week! :cheesygrinsmiley:
Both indoor plants and the one outdoor plant continue to look fine. They're all liking their new (permanent) homes now (about 2 weeks).

The outdoor Obama Runtz has been topped once (so far) and today is the first day of some LST.
I'll monitor its growth tendencies an decide whether it will get a 2nd topping - probably, and it certainly will get more LST tie-downs.

The CBD plants have also been topped once, but I'm holding off LST just a bit longer. Here's Harlequin
And here's Charlotte's Web
:peace:
