OTM's DIY Bubble Cloning & Sprouting 40 Year Old Seeds & Current RDWC Harvest

Re: OTM's DIY Bubble Cloning & Sprouting 40 Year Old Seeds & Current RDWC Harvest

Definitely excited about the journal... Been following for a couple weeks now im excited to watch some beans older than me grow up .

Hope you enjoy following along Led, :welcome:

I will be a long flower for Hayley, thinking probably another 3 months...I was worried about a big stretch but so far its been slow which is ok with me but that might change.:passitleft:

10-31 Update;

Last night at lights on Hayley and I got into a little bondage session, she was hogging the floor and I had to do something about it.:slide:

Gotta love a girl that's into a little rope work. Just have to be careful to not cut off circulation. :)
I did that with one of my plants. :( It started growing around the twine I'd restrained her with.

I used double knots so its not acting as a noose as it grows and it seems to be working good so far...noticing growth on the lowers that I pulled up on Hayley and am now working on the others around her. It takes some time per plant but while doing it I can also thin out some of that inner growth...Plus it smells GREAT in the room! :grinjoint:

11-6 Update;

Just a few quick pictures of the flower room, I didn't set up extra lighting so some might be kind of dark...

Kush clones are doing some serious stacking;

One nice thing I am noticing is not much of a stretch, Hayley is just about 50" and a couple of the Kush clones are 46-48" but man the Kush clones are really pushing flowers along the stocks and getting quite thirsty in the process, Hayley and 2 of the Kush clones are drinking 1/2 a gallon a day with the others not far behind, we are running 660-680 PPM's and will be adding the bloom optimizer in this weeks mix.

I will be backbuilding again this round and will step it up hard on all but Hayley, going to let her do her own thing. I will update the progress of the clone cuttings and other Maui babies tomorrow night along with the final weights and smoke report on the Purple Kush.

Thanks for following along! :thanks:

OTM, I noted the sensors in a number of your recent posts. temp and humid I suppose. What brand are you using?

Hi Mike, The sensors are by Inkbird and will automatically turn on the humidifier/dehumidifier and the heater or exhaust fan at pre-set levels I program into them.
They have worked well so far especially on the last grow that was in the peak of a hot summer.

Welcome to the adventure!:welcome:

11-7 Veg /Clone Update;

As promised a quick update of the clones and baby/tween Maui's :laughtwo:

My stem rot seems to be under control and the runt seems to be taking off, the only casualty was a few of the lower fans on both, the rest of the growth looks good.

The clones are kind of disappointing this go around, they are all alive but seem to be taking forever compared to the last cloning session. While the pictures don't really show it, there are root sites popping out on the stems, I think they will all make it but just not as fast results as the last session.

Tomorrow evening I will have the best of the bud porn photos along with the final results/impressions of my last harvest.
:thanks: :yummy: :passitleft: :thankyou:

11-8 Final 1st Harvest Weight & Impressions Update;

As promised some results from my first indoor harvest along with some pictures to drool over.:drool:

I will start with the Purple Kush first;
The total wet weight for all 3 plants was 1472 grams, cured the total is 265 grams or 9.3 ounces which was my best yielding group. Out of that total I picked out the nicest big and smaller buds and have 7 ounces to smoke away with. The other 2.3 oz will be used for budder or oil!:yummy:

My biggest bud was about as long as a Sharpie pen and about the diameter of a fine Cuban cigar...most all of the buds from the plants look like cigars or cigarettes, long & straight with medium denseness.

If you want to get something done, this is the smoke for that, while my train of though will wander a bit, its not a plop your ass on the couch and not move high, I can still function and get things done...today I started my afternoon with a bowl just before the sorting & weighing process, about 1 1/2 hrs later I took another couple hits and kept on going, finishing the sorting process in about 3 hours.

The smell and taste has a fuel effect to it, the smoke is a little harsh out of the pipe and would probably be much better from a bong. Cotton mouth is almost instant, but a can of pop will keep it at bay...a can of coke lasted me all three hours and coming down is gradual which is nice.

The pictures are from the best of the best ounce...the one that is for special occasions or guests!:passitleft:

The White Widow totals for all 3 plants was 1225 grams wet and 233 cured which is 8.2 ounces. Out of that total I also picked out 7 oz for smoke and the other 1.2 oz will be used for goodies.

My biggest bud was a bit shorter than a Sharpie and bigger in diameter than the Purple Kush. Most all of these buds tended to curl as they dried so the length is probably close to the Kush. The biggest difference is the buds are hard as a rock dense and most are Christmas tree shaped. I have more better quality looking buds verses the Kush.

This is relax, put on the tube evening smoke, probably why I like it the best...one bowl and I am done, it will last me 2+ hrs but doesn't put me to sleep...it does make going to sleep much faster and I notice I am more groggy in the morning when I get up...takes 2-3 cups of coffee to snap me out of it.:sleep:

The taste and smell is fruity, its not at all harsh and is very aromatic, especially when opening the jar. The cotton mouth is not as bad but the munchies will kick in after a 1/2 hr or so and for some reason a beer takes better than pop.

Again, this is the best of the best White Widow;

The last picture is a good representation of what most of the average buds look like, tree shaped and about the size of my thumb but rock hard.

Its not the 2+ lbs per plant I was used to getting when I was growing outdoors but there is no doubt the quality per oz is better on both strains plus the fact it is seedless makes a difference.

14 ounces of good smoke and 3 1/2 oz of cooking material will last me a long time, at least half will be shared amongst friends plus I have a pound or better of sugar leaves in the freezer for some bubble hash that needs to be made soon so I am very happy with the results.

:thanks:

Hi everyone. Been stalking this site for some time. Really enjoying hearing about the old classics and watching 40 year old seeds come to life! First smoked pot in '68. My first grow - bag seed- was in '73. Grew enough to pay for my last year in college!

We never were "sure" of what we were smoking back then. We were told it was this or that, but who really new. I do recall some tenants of mine - I owned a student rental - that got some weed that was the spiciest, most favorable and potent weed I had smoked at the time. It was very dark colored: browns and blacks with some golden color to it. Never really found out what is was, other than it was very good!

We did some crazy sheet back then. A friend got a map of a local grow - ditch weed anyone? That we raided one night. It was literally growing in the ditch by the side of the road! Turns out it was leftovers from when Hemp was legally grown in SW Michigan. Stupid us thought we had a gold mine so we hooked up with a friend of a friend and drove 80 lbs (yes 80) to Florida. Little did we know the "friend" was a narc! Long story short my buddy and I got busted and received 5 yr probation. Fortunately , we did not have any on us when we got busted so the charge was "Conspiracy to Possess. Luckily, we were able to have our records expunged after two years. We were pretty stupid back then, what can I say LOL!

Been back at it for nearly five years. Have my medical card so everything is legal. Been trying different strains and have had great success with some White Widow. My nugs from the last grow (March) are still as pungent, favorable and hard as a rock as they were when i harvested/cured them. Look very much like yours, OTM. I keep eying some of the old strains, but can't decide what to get and of course, who knows if they're the real deal.

I am growing LSD from Elev8 seeds. These are advertised as "circa 1963", so we'll see. They are supposedly handed down from someone who has been growing it from way back. Anxious to see how it turns out. I've include a shot of both the current WW and LSD below. Both in soil, both topped once, LST'ed and vegged for 6 weeks. I flipped this past Sunday. WW is first, LSD second.

OTM, sure am envious of your old strains . . . :welldone:

Ahh... finally caught up. 60's and 70's - what a time. So interesting to see old strains revived. Simply amazing.
Thanks

Your gals look happy Mike, it will be interesting to see how they do for you. After I get this Maui project finished it will be on to attempting to pop the others that are in the freezer and maybe throw a new/old landrace in the mix for variety.:smokin2:

I was lazy this round, no training only some bottom trimming so I can water the pots and a little defoil here and there, kind of like it did it 40 years ago.:laughtwo:
