OTM's DIY Bubble Cloning & Sprouting 40 Year Old Seeds & Current RDWC Harvest

10-27 Clone taking Update;

The little $10 bubble cloner is back in operation, only found 2 cuttings that were not showing flowering on Hayley, plenty not showing on the Widow so the ration is 4 & 2...plus I kind of enjoy the Widow so the more the merrier!;) and I didn't want to fool around for the re-veg this time, it takes too long...

The 2 Maui's are so-so, I see some of the bottom leaves starting to yellow but the new growth is nice and green, I am not really worried about yield so that isn't a big thing...maybe on the bright side the stress will turn them male which is the goal now that we know Hayley is a she!:cheertwo:

:thanks::rollit:

I bet it'll bounce back, since the stem gets so much growth at this point, it'll be hitting that area with new veg growth, "healing" it. At least, that's my guess based on how the plants seem to deal with stem damage in veg! I wonder if adding a little potassium silicate might help?

I'm thinking I'll be cutting clones tomorrow too - clone party!

Altogether the emergency caretaker did a good job - you'll have to keep her around when you build up your breeding empire! :laugh:

I think it will and I have nothing but 100% respect and appreciation for what my helper did, she grows a nice outdoor veg garden and has healthy looking house plants so the quick crash course and a little bit of phone support was all that was needed. She is quite intrigued by the coco-coir, air pots and LED's...I will probably blow her mind when I crank up the RDWC & scrog again!:laughtwo:

A little Botanicare HydroGuard has helped me with stem rot (Southern Blight) in the past. I just treated the stem and soil around it. The plant survived to harvest with little to no loss in yield.

I have been using Z7 which is suppose to keep the bad stuff in check, but another thing I noticed was the position of my clip on fan was out of position and not really hitting the plants like it should so that and the concentration of water near the stem was probably the biggest culprit.

I think it will live, and now that I have some clones starting I can give it plenty of time to heal before I up-pot...no real rush plus I will get to "sample" by the time these need to be flipped!:blunt:

Hey just subbed in OTM. This is amazing! As a product of the 70's and 80's Hawaiian weed holds a tender spot in my heart. It was the Creme de la Creme of the old school stuff. The flavors and the buzz were so unique. You are a very lucky man! You should seriously consider seeding some of that. I for one would pay top dollar for those seeds. Fem or regular. They would instantly become the show pieces in my grows. I would likely buy them their own complete grow tent/setup. Treasure these dearly as all the Hawaiians on the market seem to be engineered strains to closely resemble Hawaiian. Maui Waui.... even the name is timelessly sexy

Welcome aboard Gee :welcome:

The plan is to make seeds, hopefully I get a male out of the 2 in the veg tent...seems that when you want a male all you get is females.:laughtwo:

After the current Maui gal in flower is finished up, a portion of her stem will be sent to Phylos Bioscience for a genotype work up and from there I will be able to decide if I need to take it to the next level.

When we were buying this stuff back in the 70's all we had was the word of the local dealer, and all he has was the word of his supplier, and all that guy had was the word of the grower, so what was advertised as Maui Wowi, Panama Red, Colombian, ect. is based on a person's word which I like to think was much more than it is now. With all this new technology we can now at least confirm what was word of mouth.

It might take me a couple years and a few $$$ to get these strains going again, hopefully I have another 10-15 years before I take a dirt nap to get it accomplished!:passitleft:

10-29 Update;

Here is a quick photo update on the fresh cut clones and the baby Maui's...You guys and gals are going to have to name the baby Maui's so we can be on the same page!:smokin2:

The clones look like happy clones..no death or ill effects, hope to see some roots developing in the next 3-4 days.

10-29_001.JPG

The baby Maui's are looking better, some yellowing on the bottom fans but I loosened the noose tying it up and its standing straight. You can see the damage from the root rot at the base and the difference between the bottom fans and top.

I do see some roots developing in the area of the rot so that makes me feel a lot better, when it comes time to up-pot the damage should be healed and will be a few inches under the soil, I may just put a rod in next to it with a loose noose just in case.

The current flower with the clones and Hayley is getting out of hand...not height wise but width wise so tomorrow I will update with my plan to keep it in check without a lot of trimming.

:thanks:

mokupuni wahine..Island Lady? or wahine ʻōpio...young girl? or nani; uʻi wahine...beautiful girl?

All good suggestions...Nani if one is a girl...now if one is a boy?...back to the girl named Sue thing on Hayley:laughtwo:

Nice to have you aboard Gato, :welcome:

I was not much in naming plants but as time goes on it grows with me for the special ones...when we named our first born, it was because of what was between the legs...with plants it a 50/50 shot!:laughtwo:

I'm not really one for names either. Maybe if I had a fantastic mother but for a plant that is only going to be around for a few months, it seems excessive.

That said, Haley is a different story.

If you name another, Te Fiti is a fitting name, in that she's a goddess that effectively is made out of tropical vegetation. Things you know when you have kids! I don't know Polynesian culture but I know Moana!

How's your first batch of Purple Kush coming along OTM? My round 1 LA Confidential tastes good after the cure but just isn't as strong as the others I've grown, and now that my round 2 batch is curing, I think what's left of my round 1 batch is going to end up as oil. My round 2 batch and my Kushy Kush are way stronger.

What day of flower are you at now OTM? I'm just a few days in and expect to harvest around Christmas.

10-31 Update;

Last night at lights on Hayley and I got into a little bondage session, she was hogging the floor and I had to do something about it.:slide:

She was spreading out too much so a little string in strategic places did the trick and the Kush clones are next. My flower area worked pretty good with the scrog and 6 plants in the RDWC last time, but no doubt it too small for these 5 in coco this time.

I am not seeing the big stretch that I was expecting so far, what I am seeing is the Kush clones stacking like crazy;

This is Hayley's top cola...and she is starting to stack a little also;

All in all everything is looking good on this end!:thumb:

:thankyou:

"Rosie" flipped these to flower on the 17th so we be starting week 3 in a couple days which will put harvest into the first couple weeks of January for the Kush Widow clones and probably the end of January for Hayley.

I have not tried the Kush since it came out of the fridge, that will be a good activity for this weekend along with doing the final sort & dry weight on everything. I ended up with 20 quart jars with 3/4-1 oz in each so I should have a pound + when I get done. The buds are looking nice out of the jar....:drool:

Agreed with pw, that’s going to be a powerhouse. Looking forward to your report! Asesino85 has CKS PK late in flower now, and his looks a lot like yours. I’ve told you before, PK is such a big strain for me, I have to grow it before long.

Nice job on Haley, looks like the top cola should be really nice. If it’s like my Chocolope colas, even if it doesn’t stack perfectly you’ll still get a ton of nice buds, just spaced out. I found that made for easier trimming. I find I tend to pull all but the densest part of the colas apart when trimming anyway, so it was nice to get meaty buds that were easy to trim. Stretchy sativa was a pain for me at times, but it definitely has its strengths.

No big smells yet for a few weeks I guess. It’ll be interesting to see if the smells take you back 35 years, I find I can associate strong memories with certain smells.

Super nice haul OTM, that bud looks killer!

Thanks for the compliments, it didn't really turn purple for me, but I have read that this strain from CKS is all over the map regarding results, plus the fact that it was flowering during the hottest time of the year may have had something to do with it...

When I sampled it shortly after harvest it was a little harsh to the taste but it had a nice head spinning energetic high...we will find out this weekend if it improved with age!:bongrip:
