OTM's DIY Bubble Cloning & Sprouting 40 Year Old Seeds & Current RDWC Harvest

Cool. If you succeed, then maybe some day in the future others will be able to grow these original genetics too. It's really cool

That would be great, the problem is finding a breeder that won't bastardize the genetics and let the original strain go by the wayside like they have done over and over the past 30 years>

I was just thinking, ya its a bad thing sometimes.... You need to pick a name for these Sacred Sativa's. Cause that is some Jurassic Juice no one else has.

You mean Old Bean #1 #3 is not good enough? :laughtwo:

According to the scribbling on the bottle cap, this should be Maui Wowie circa 1978-1980. Now if it actually was grown in Hawaii, that I am not sure of, a lot of domestic weed was grown on the west coast at that time and usually from California's "Emerald Triangle".

The normal stuff that we got other than local homegrown was mostly Mexican ditchweed which was harsh, loaded with seeds and had a short lived high. Not all of the Mexican was bad, every now and then some "Gold" would find its way, but that stuff never compared to the Maui Wowie, Panama Red, Columbia Red & Gold, Thai Stick, or California Sensimilla that would find its way to the 49th parallel.

How about New Old Maui Wowie! ;)

Great news Age!:cheertwo:

Are you going to red cup these?

The way I'm doing the red cup is clones. But I suppose we could do one from seed. We still got about 4 weeks to go on this first run and I think my only chance is if Boom plants dies... Just kidding but I'll run a vote before the next one and see who wants in and by what method. Doing it by clones has me trying new things to find what works for me. How are your clones doing?

I wish I could enter one of these old beans if they pop out, but I don't think a red cup would be appropriate!:laughtwo:

My clones are doing super, Next week they will be going into a bigger tub, the roots are getting big enough to start to tangle so they need more space and less light shining through the clear tub.

I think you have to stick with the original names for the original strains...but...if you crossed the Maui Wowie with the Panama Red, then bred that plant to the Columbian Gold, there would be no issue with naming the bastard child "OTM Jurassic". Now that would be cool.

And so, the legend begins.

LOL!, I like that...documented right here on 420 Magazine...I can see the movie offers starting to pour in! :rofl: "Crazy Old Man Stuck in the 70's"..."Old Fool Trying to Find the Fountain of Youth"...My own reality TV show...Keeping up with OldTimingMan...:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Wow..looking great OTM! So exciting your vintage seed collection. I've been too busy to keep up with all my subb'd journals.
Btw; Are you talking about 'The Sativa Solo Cup'? I recall someone discussing the idea of making a contest..maybe Weasel? My memory is appalling,sorry. But if it is that comp, I'd love to enter, if you don't mind? I'll have to order a few seeds ASAP, just in case.

Hey Marty.... How many Giga watts to go back in time to the mid 70's? Hmmm... I think it may be 600-1000 watts, a bubble cloner and you may have to adjust the "Ole Timingman" to prevent spark knock on come down!

I've got a thread for the Red Cup Challenge, in the sig. Like I said, we can do seed on the next run, we've only got two contestants right now, so if seeds get more people involved then I'm in. I've got seeds now and would be happy to start some others, it works right into my current grow plans perfectly. Sub to the Red Cup we will start a new run toward the end of August. Cheers!

I know the feeling Anna, I try to keep up with all the journals I follow and it gets overwhelming sometimes! There are a lot of great folks on this site that are passionate about perfecting and innovating how we are now growing this great plant! :thumb:

If you want to compete in a solo cup grow, by all means check out Agemon's Red Cup Challenge, The Red Cup! It is amazing what you can produce in a 16oz solo cup!:popcorn:

7-28 Update;

This morning I put Old bean #4 in the rooter, I took pictures of it but the were over flashed and unrecognizable. We now have 3 out of six that popped taps this last round, one that is laying between the paper towel like a slug, and two that are still at the bottom of the glass.

The other 3 may find a home this weekend with the last attempt in the outdoor garden which nothing is showing so far.

I had a chance to take some pictures of the clones, beans sitting in their rooters and the current grow, first the beans and clones.

We are starting to see some nice frost and filling out on many of the cola's and sites, these first two pictures are with a flash and without of the same bud;

Kind of neat how those crystals absorb the lighting!

The rest of the pictures are random buds & cola's starting to fill in;

I tried out my cheap USB microscope, it actually takes some nice pictures...when it is fixed or steady!:laughtwo: I am going to try to make an attachment for my camera tripod with a adjustable boom because I can't hold it steady enough to take a decent picture freehand...this happens with age!:loopy:

Here are a couple more random shots of the gal's as you see them walking in the room since I don't have any worth posting from my microscope;
