Hey Chuckeye! I know I'm late to the party, but... I your new Adventure into LED and training for Bud Bushes! I have also converted from HID Tree growing and think I can actually do better this way too!

Day 20 of 61

You know, sometimes the One has to sacrifice for the Many, sigh..

I was out most of the day and this is what I can home to

Maui Wowie almost touching the light...

Average growth per day !

Height difference perspective, Maui Wowie is Over a full pail taller

But not anymore

Here she is before !

I installed three bamboo stakes and a 24" wire hoop. Then I tied each branch to the wire.

Gave the stems a gentle squeeze and tied them down to the wire, knocked her down from 47" to 38" !

Leveled the light @ ~ 18" and 100% power....

I'll give the stems a day or so to set and then readjust !

Makes me wonder if the other two seeds I have will be as Tall/Vigorous

If so I could fill the space with ONE plant

That is on my To Do list

She hasn't slowed down one bit so for now I'm training sideways @ 40 1/2"....

With more stretch to come it is likely I will have to or Want to train towards the middle to maintain a level canopy !

Let's just say I'm now into the NEW plan

This is ridiculous... The NYC Diesel that I Thought I had a foster parent for is Still Here

Which brings me to some preliminary conclusions about growing with coco And my water two ways, cloth bags vs SIP. No ph down, , no Cal/Meg, feed is Mega Crop one part...

Keep in mind the Hawaiian Snow/SIP is five days younger than the Train Wreck and NYC Diesel in 2 1/2 gallon bags.

The HS is slightly taller in the SIP but the two others are bushier !

All are being fed 4g/gallon of MC...

Not a blemish to be found anywhere

I will keep in touch with the foster parents as to yield, if that matters to you !

Consider we have three different strains but either way with coco Seems to be a viable option for those that want to grow sativa's but don't have unlimited space

I ran 6 mowi clones side by side years ago. No prunning or trimming so all natural growth. Veg to 20 inch then moved to flower room. Two soil, two coco and two DWC. Soil was slowest grow, 6 foot tall and 2.5 foot wide. Coco was just over a week faster, at 5.5 tall and 3 foot wide. DWC was over 3 weeks faster than soil 5 foot tall and 4 foot wide. Numbers are approximate because this was too long ago to remember exact. The PITA of running 3 different media, 3 different nutrient ratio mixes, on 6 plants is still clear in my head.

Stretch is continuing at a regular pace

Not sure if I made this clear but I am continuing to only feed/water what they can use in one day.

Hawaiian Snow is about 1/3, the Golds are about 1/2 and the Maui Wowie is short of a full reservoir per day

Day 25 of 66

I think I'm going to have to call this "The Taming of the Out of Control Sativa"

In hindsight I could have started this earlier/shorter when it became obvious she was growing 3X as fast as the others

After super cropping the tops have grown from 8" - 10" horizontally along the wire and the three tallest are now + 6" above that level.

So I tied the branches securely to the wire (@~10" from super crop), looped a length of string around each top and pulled them over to the other side of the hoop into the center and secured it with a binder clip....

This brings the total height down to ~ 38", still mostly twice as tall as the rest

I will do the rest tomorrow or the day after, call this a proof of concept trial

Worked a charm !

This Girl is Tough !

When I super cropped I gave the branches a squeeze until I felt a give and then pulled them over. They didn't care, just grew a Knuckle !

Nothing fancy about it....

Maui Wowie is down to 1" per day, the rest are about 1/2"...

For now I'm going to leave the rest of the Maui Wowie tops alone. Should still end up with mostly long cola's without having to raise the rest of the girls up anymore

What a great assortment of plants! You have one of every size lol. I really like the bases with grates over them pretty nifty to catch all the run off, do you remember where you picked those up from?

I mostly grow four different strains at a time and although I usually do have one over achiever this time was the best/worst ?

Saucers and plant elevators from Indoor Farmer Canada.

Relatively inexpensive but costly to ship on orders under $100 !

Work great with fabric bags but with SIP's I have a short length of hose on the overflow hole and use another container to catch any run off. Much easier than dealing with it in the saucers..

For this grow I'm using them simply to add height !
