Nick Hardy's Big Grow 2023 Gorilla Glue Skunk 11 OG Kush Coco Peat Co2 Mars Hydro

We?!? :laughtwo: you mean your grow manager, right?

The veg lights don't have to stay on for the full 8 hours. With night interruption (i.e. gas lantern effect) what you're really trying to do is make sure there is no uninterrupted 12 hour block of darkness, so you could set a timer to have the light come on somewhere in the middle of dark period for 30 minutes or so. That way there's only a dark period for maybe six hours, then a period of light, then dark again. Saves on the light bill, and helps with crabby neighbors.
They’re on most of the night anyway just general security and I work with just a little sidelight on with them on and nothing else - but if you reckon I can safely change the timer to go off at say 11am it would save me on newer curtains!

And yes - Trim Controller Consultancy wow she gets it. Comes from a family where if you didn’t grow/catch some your own food through the year you just didn’t eat as well certainly gave her an amazing understanding of plants. The first time I visited her Mum’s home, very very rural, water pumped direct from a river, no glass windows I opened the freezer to grab some ice and teo frozen squirrels stared out at me 😂 killed with a catapult by her 78 year old Mum the week before. The next day eels in a bucket caught by hand out the river. My wife grew up to 16 like this - and still loves it. Goes back every minute she can. But gives her great instinctive knowledge of how to produce “bounty” from a plant I think.
Wow...29% THC on a Bruce Banner!?!?!?
I need to try that.
Haha - they make it up. I think the seeds they’re from have at some point gone to 2x% they just add some to show value. No testing. I gave no indication other than thats A Grade and that’s B grade. He bought the B to sell and pocketed the A I gave him free for personal use 😂

REMINDER FOR ME

I think in retrospect my “Overwatering” issue was the opposite.

After thick packed rootballs in Solos (shorten that period next time with root nutes) I moved to 1 Gallons, added Co2 full whack and had temperature issues. This left thirsty plants because after 4 days I had full root balls in 1 Gallons but droopy plants.

I mistook this for overwatering still and cut back on nutes. The key mistake was underwatering the up pot Coco. Terrified of overwatering more I didn’t water enough at transplant. This lead to a really slow stage of worry. Had I watered thoroughly I think I’d have continued the mega root growth.

Solution - slower on the Co2 in veg and fix heat temp issue or be prepared to repot after 4 days again.

Water the new medium more thoroughly next time even if worried about overall overwatering. I unpotted some today and seems like the rootball is about half way out (30cm diameter) so 15cm from 10cm in a week. Can do better I think.

Sorry very specific to my grow but that’s for me. Don't make that mistake again, Nick - but don’t regret losing a few days or a week by being too cautious. Quicker to kill with too much.

😅

EDIT - Use top airpot blank holes to tie cables to. Easy. Don’t forget, Nick.

Thought the final final piece of my flower room was arriving today. Dehumidifier. Made to order from the Chinese factory. 3-4 weeks late. Man its a beast. Way bigger and heavier than I really imagined. The smallest ceiling type dehumidifier they make but didn’t want to lose grow space or mess about emptying stuff. It was my Christmas present from me to me

And in dispute already as they shipped to Shanghai and marked as delivered. So my Trade Assurance (like guarantee) from Alibaba (Amazon but for manufacturing) started ticking.

Its 50kg/100lbs and big. Got it upstairs and opened it up…..

And the control screen is broken. So annoyed.

Put my 14” laptop in pic to give a sense of scale. Sure they’ll send me a new controller more just annoyed I can’t get that room totally done. It cost the same as some free standing fancy brand dehumidifier from Home Depot that does 10% the volume. There’s back picture as well. The pipe at the bottom is for the water that will run outside into the air conditioning drip gutter. Looked at recycling it but not a good idea apparently. It ends up in the ground where my well is anyway so kind of recycled.

Here you go, Happy Christmas Nick

Ok good stuff. All but two plants are “Weedz on Wheelz” my buddy was gonna lend me two but despite ordering before me he hasn’t got his yet.

Plants are looking fresh. This morning I looked and after some scary run off EC and Ph I was thinking of flushing today (ain’t no thing when you can slow riiider them out to the balcony 🤣) but they look perky. Added bonus was thinking about lowering the lights which as many of you I’m sure know is a PITA bit instead I added 6cm/2.3” with the trays. That’s win.

I still fancy watering them tonight. Feel like my touch is back I know the medium. The plants look good. Its coco peat. Dry to 1-1.5” down. We mix fert to middle of the road spec as no Co2. Test. Water to run off and test. Come back the next day.

The silliest thing I bought today?

A thick green hose pipe. My Irrigation Engineer is very budget minded. She bought a clear plastic hose for the downstairs tap when the dog randomly (she’s not a chewer at all) kept biting the old one. It was cheaper by like 5c a meter. Now its sunny the clear one became filled with green growth. The water I make the food out of. Sure its been messing with my Ph and PPM on mixing. 100%. I was getting leaf looking things out the hose. So solid light proof commercial hose pipe.

Watered, well the Irrigation Manager did. I kinda helped. So much easier on wheels but can’t wait for the nute tank system to get installed. 18 plants. 27L so 1.5L per plant average but some barely drained some took more. Just watch and wait. Full whack fert I reckon for me without Co2.

EC 1.9-2.0 Ph 6.5 in. 900ppm This is top of the range recommended. But exact same I did last time at this stage and I feel in my comfort zone.

0.75ml Cal Mag (white label)
11ml each A/B Grow
1ml Total (Humic Fulvic)
0.5ml Root Boost

Out a umm higher than I hoped. But I think I’m getting rid of those silly stones I out in there. Ph is 6.5 still. I want 5.8 out like before but think I’m just clearing out my lack of watering the last week or so. EC and PPM pretty much what I had before. 2-2.5 and 1200.

All those measurements per L and all Dutch Pro ex the Cal Mag.

Super feeling. They are all looking right where me and my Grow Manager feel comfortable.

My one concern? She wants to trim the outdoor GG in the 15G pot. Told her I need to learn the trade.

😂

Super happy with all of them. Going to resist the urge to whack the gas on tonight and go full gas tomorrow after a mid morning check.

Hard to get over how big they are only 12 days removed from the Dixie

@Jon Yeah they range from 25cm to 55cm now. Say 11” to 23”. Different strains and different plants obviously. Collected them as clones 16th December and repotted to clear/red solos
We repotted to 1 Gallon plastics on 3rd/4th of Jan. They were I dunno, mixed bag to look at but the rootballs bursting. Could have done earlier.
8th of Jan they went to 5 Gallon Airpots when they had absolutely packed out root balls and I’ve been complaining all the time 😅

But 8 days later after a couple of feeds and Demon Barbering I think they’re all bouncing.

It honestly seems like I misread everything as overwatering when it was the other way due to the one day gas blast.

Really happy with them all for the skinny style of grow my Grow Architect likes to pursue. (Love you babe 😂)

I’m just nervous about flipping them now more because the first few weeks is when they want the gas the most and that means more water and it’ll be really tough with the current system. But hopefully 4 days we can fix that issue and they’ll be cool and recovered from their trim.

Super chilled and happy and had a hug with the missus and just looked at them. Its some sight for newbies like us.

Nick

Yay. Well pleased with these. Will set them up in a bit. 2 short for now but 5 more on the way. Thanks to @HappyDaze for the tip.
Those wheeled things take all the fun out of carrying them around though, no? ;)

Man, that's quite a staff you have on the payroll. :laughtwo:

That's probably a good call on your part. :laughtwo:

She’s awesome but outdoors I want bulk.

She is desperate for a cutting of the Do Si Dos in the SIP though, for her personal grow at the back of the house. That plant has really caught her eye. Its the most symmetrical plant we’ve ever had.

Gonna suggest she mothers a cutting and sells to locals for cheap. Her own revenue stream (actually, apparently she is the major shareholder and gets all the revenue with no cost exposure 🤣)

That’s kind of funny but kind of true. But per my comment on her innate learned skills from childhood with plants the fact she likes that one so much (pre SIP) is really interesting. She’s never cared about the clones she’s taken before. This one she’s really interested in.

I really just felt bad when ai cancelled my gym membership. The owner and staff looked so sad at losing me I thought, “You know what? Stop getting your exercise from lugging nutes and water around and support a local business”
So I found a solution

Honest.

🤣

Nice job on the thinning and in a week all those fans will be replaced with new growth the plant can put toward flowering! I'd wait more than 4-5 days before flip though to all them to recover, because I want the new growth already in before I sent it into stretch.

If you bought Roombas and put them under the plants without wheels you could do a test run at complete automation. :thumb:

Shame about the dehuey screen though. :(

Can you use photos with them Shed or do they have to be auto’s? Lmao 😜 CL🍀

yeah - its terrible when I see that skinny when I know how hard it to get them there, all that growth! But they pop back.

5 days tops or I run out of space in 7 weeks. Only have 2.3m growable space after lights and pots. Sure of it with the gas back.

Ha - calm morning for 30 (nervous) seconds. Going back to height for flipping.

Room 2.3m
Loss of distance
Lights to ceiling 30cm
Pots 30cm
Lights to canopy 30cm
Space remaining 220cm

Current plant max height 55cm

Implied space available at 3x is 70cm plants.

But this evening those plants will be coming down in height as I tie them down like some BDSM scene so we’ll see. They are on full gas today. Looking great.

I think in 6 hours I’ll need to start grouping by height and raising a light might be required. Good problem to have. 😃

Outdoors is proving suspiciously easy. Awaiting plague or something.

I can setup all the smart stuff I want. Read all the stats/metrics but there are 18 different plants of three different strains. Sure I look for reference. I think at scale its more important and there you want to be averaging the plant and getting say 75% max yield per plant on 100 plants. It becomes a labour issue. At this level and probably to 30 plants in one room you can aim for much higher total possible yield as you can personalise more. The metrics are of interest sure. But reading the plants is more important.

Watering system nearly done for the delivery bit. There’s a couple of pictures of the general idea. The 1/4” brass taps don’t fit the spigots on the watering rings. Hence the female/female brass. I have 9 female to female taps and 9 male to female. There are no more in any hardware store in town 😂 so there will be some minor variations but essentially this is what is going in tomorrow I hope. Because the plants are def gonna need water tomorrow. They’ve visibly grown since this morning. Back on the gas. Even with wheels its a pain to water 20.

Anyway - I have two manifolds meaning I could in theory run 24 plants in there. Individual control per plant with the tap. Nutes pumped from the 200L reservoir downstairs from a cheapo electric pump.

That should be done by the end of the week.

Indicative pictures, the pipe lengths are just to test.
