Nick Hardy & Co Graduation: Coco Co2 High EC: Grown in Thailand: Perpetual

Next grow so slow to happen here seems like.

I am
Measuring the room rebuild by numbers of days I’ve been without water in my bathroom. So its particularly acute. We have the nearly there. 12 Indy and 9 strawberry.

While they wait @Jon gave me an idea.

But first - the Outdoor SIP grow.

I think I could keep her easily in veg until say October and in November flower 3 months. But the lights annoy being on until midnight aren’t free. The problem with flipping now is its rainy season - and the weather comes straight out of the west where she faces. Umm sub optimal. Also light pollution. In the blast of light picture you see the two problems. Light pollution from the light on the CCTV and from where I sit (Glengarry Glen Ross on the TV)

I’m not worried about security truth be told. Its not a part of the house insurance (until it is) but we ain’t getting robbed. Zero worry. The internal light - i can fix with a shield and a curtain - probably the shield will be reflective.

The problem light - I think I’m just gonna hope the light treats it like its a permant full moon and see what happens. It hermies I kill it. (Post clone because its been so badly treated in that SIP its got something or SIPS in throw away medium with no nutes are the future!)

Its outdoors and we have three - 4 always fem grows on and any one time. Can’t risk any weirdness.

So maybe she likes the full moon party? She’s had it most her life. She’ll still build that magic hormone/chemical I reckon. One that builds up to flip to flower? Forget which one. Hopefully that “Full Moon” is wired in by now.

See what happens.

OK next grow when the room is ready:

12 Indy
9 Strawberry

I want to nail training on this one - really we’re terrible. But its also really hard to get access to our plants we grow so dense.

So I was already going to do some version of @Cola Monster ’s wire cages (the mini ones for the solo grow are awesome)) for training.

But I’ve been keen on side lighting quite a while but makes no sense with our 21 plants in basically a 12”x4’ space. In an L shape. So 6 sides not four.

So I bought 21 of the below. Warm LED USB. The 40-45cm steel wire or PVC grow cages I’m gonna make (the drainage trays are 40x40cm square) I’m going to wrap them around.

They’re acrually what looks to be a bulk discount off outdoor security light's. With built in motion detection running off USB 5v - they cost umm for 1 x 5m delivered full set $3USD. Its just where we live its so cheap.

So I’m going to wrap this warm LED weatherised flexible LED strip around the training cage in a spiral for my individual side lighting. 125 metres of LED lighting on its way.

Thanks for the hints!

Nick

Oh this is gonna be and look so damn cool! Thanks for the shout out Nick.

The Outdoor grow had 57” this afternoon. Pretty sure Monday I can flip at 60” - 5’

She’s looking perkier.

Amazing what some nutes will do.

I could schlep her maybe. The dry cure room has balconies that are SE to SW and then NW. the weather is gonna come all out of the West for 4 months. Wind and rain.

She is looking OK now at least. Photo in the morning.

Nick

Now I'd cut it in half and start again. :)
Seeing the weather the last few days it honestly might be the best thing to do. Get her out on the south facing balcony until October/November when the weather changes for the better.

You don't think you'd have issues with the root ball letting it go that long?

I hope you do, Nick. It would be great if you could nurse this plant to excellent health when the time is right. Are you going to put it inside under veg lights?

Builders here a couple of times today. They’re also fixing our bathroom and putting the weather station sensors on the roof - always wanted one! I can publish on open source weather collection sites for free as well as its wifi enabled. Def nerding out with that.

But today predictably no work was actually done. We are basically starting again. Instead of being a room within a room. Its going to be just a room with the server rack and MCB enclosed and ventilated separately. Way more space to play with.

My first thought was “lets put another light in and grow 32 plants in there” 😂

But I think we’ll stick to 21 and enjoy the space to be able to train properly and increase yield per plant. Although it occurs to me I have a spare HPS and CMH light so I wouldn’t actually need to but a new light…

A grow with actual access to the plants is very appealing though!

Lol, shame man Nick, that poor plant  :cheer:

Part of me wants to just get her flowered in the teeth of the weather and get it done. Love a challenge.

But its ferocious weather. I think I'll move her tomorrow to the south side of the house (and dispose of the dead Gorilla Glue - she provided so many clones already - thank you GG) clone her when she's a little stronger. Cut her down a little and rebuild through monsoon season in the shelter of the southerly balcony. Flip her in October when the weather will go dry and sunnier and the wind changes. She'll be over a year old by harvest if I get her there. Crazy - I mean I know there's re vegging but my mate only does for cloning for the farms. Be interesting to see how it turns out.

Respect my man. Fricking monsoon season. Oy vey!

Anyway other things to mull! Flower Room design! a game of fun!

Just fill the outer box with the 21 little boxes and within the constraints of the 3 medium sized boxes! (Ignore the funny symbol - that's a hoist, obvs. 😂)

Edit - I think its a bit off as its taken the external walls out the internal area which I can change in Visio - but broadly speaking the room is 233cm wide so only 5 drainage trays across. Its 310cm long - but now its 270cm as it has the internal walls. I could get a fourth light in but not particularly keen to. Want to maximise "space grow" to light saturation ratio

I’d cut it to 20 and go 5 rows of 4 (or vice versa) with adjustments near the door as necessary.

My left field idea is to swap out the LED nearest the AC for a HPS and CMH combo and move the LED yo the empty space near the electrical cabinet (door stopper to prevent knocking the lights already specced. Keep it at 21 but spread out over 33% more area so can move about. If that room was just 5-6cm or 2” wider oh my life would be easier 😂

Briefly - last harvest wasn’t up with my lofty 4kg hopes and dreams.

It was optimistic but I do see where we’ve lost and were we improved from the previous. In all it will be about 2.6KG A Grade. Only thing I’m counting now. (Although my leaf/keif/multi flower/oil pressed hash block should be pretty epic for wastage product and we probably have enough to make 1000+ pure prerolls as well)

After a week curing in Grove bags the nugs a hard as. They had most of a month nearly in 22C 44% RH before that week.

We have 860g Strawberry on hand now. Umm me and farmer mate been smoking lots.

We have about 720g Indy - plus another plant to trim - I was right in the end 🙃 this has been hit even harder by us. Especially him! He’s not even a big smoker 🤣

And we have the 6 Island Sativas what & Co reckons 700g easy. 2.5-2.6kg from 3sq/m lights so low end 800g per square meter. Its pretty good I reckon. There isn’t really any popcorn type stuff to the level we had last time. Its much better cared for. The Indy and Island aren’t really big producers either.

Indy and Island are both indicated 300-500g per sq/m and Strawberry a bit higher at 350-550g per sq/m

Our lights are 1.05 sq/m and walled in they’re so tight (until they pull down the room tomorrow!)

We’ll best those numbers and improve the quality even further. But when your farmer mates say its the best they’ve had grown in this country then yeah - they are hard tough commercial guys. No bs. The younger partner struggles to tell me 😆.

So yeah its 2.5kg primo. Logo approved for online so online advertising at mad prices for limited edition gonna start.

Right all that being boring.

Everyone’s favourite plant. Outdoor Dos Si Dos Rocketas

Getting same late veg nutes as the next batch for the new flower room now. 3 litres a day. Booked the pregnant Housekeeper/Grannymaker her single task of the day. Pour 3L of that water into that plant feed pipe every day and I eill look kindly on my wife becoming a Grandmother aged 41 😂

Going to shift the the plant to the other balcony tomorrow morning and leave some clippers on the bucket. & Co is trimming in thatbroom tomorrow. She won’t be able to help herself 🤣
