Newbie Grower, Carmen Auto x Diva, Outdoors

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought.
So, it would be a lot of time, which I don't have.

My plans are fairly fluid in the short term, so autos make sense.
Long term, maybe I can find some way to set the greenhouses up so that the night security lights do not irritate Mary or Jane.
But I thought, at the moment, autos is what I have--and what if night security lights are part of my "new normal"?
In which case, I should get good with autos....

I hope the 1:1 regulars get here soon, because I think it will work well to take a 1:1 regular male in a separate room (maybe the upstairs bathroom?) and pollinate select flowers out in the greenhouse. That way, I can make seeds, and cross seeds, already all stable 1:1's.
I know my mixes won't come out all the same, so they would not be marketable that way, but I like a little variety, so I would not mind a bit!
And even if the seeds are a little different, they will all make great gifts, so it checks my blocks for great value / frugal (cheap, haha).
(I hope I am 'splaining well...)

Easy to just do. Really difficult to do well.

Hey @Azimuth, @bluter ,
What would happen if I planted a male 1:1 auto, and pollinated an all-CBD auto fem?
And then bred the seeds again with an all-CBD auto fem?
And did so for maybe 4-5 generations, or something?
Would the great-granddaughters turn out to be all-or-high-CBD?
Or what would likely happen?

you need to study breeding. it takes several generations to bring out the traits you want and then you have to back breed in order to stabilize it.

otherwise you can just knock a few plants together and you get what you get.

Yeah, that is kind of what I figured.
Thanks very much.

Hey @bluter ,
Thanks for confirming that.
I would vastly prefer a professionally grown deli-med all-cbd auto regular. But I think it is a niche market, and it probably takes a lot of time and energy to develop, so I am not sure that they will ever come out with one. And I am sure that to do it the right way takes a lot of time and study. So that was an excellent confirmation that I won't have time.

I guess in the meantime, my priority is simply to find the most-cost-effective way to get my CBD long term. @Azimuth suggested that if I had an all-cbd I could also mix with high-producing THC strains, to make my own delicious bowls-full, and that the yields would be a lot greater than with 1:1 mixes (which are limited).
So it was a thought about how to get my CBD reliably, and open up the rest of the auto world for exploration (mixing the bud in the vaping bowl).
I appreciate that it is a very skilled job, and I hope someone makes an all-CBD auto regular some day, and if they ever do, I am sure I will buy it, because it would be preferable.

Thanks again.

there's piles and piles and piles of them. have a look through the sponsors offerings.

i'm not sure what you are looking for. i've been involved in the med side for years. a lot will depend on what you are trying to alleviate.

Ok, great!
For symptoms, my body is a mess. I was born with mild autism, so the CBD helps me a lot, but THC also.
And I had a head injury, so I lost part of my brain. So the THC helps spark new pathways.
So I find that a 1:1 or a 1:2 is real helpful, but @Azimuth suggested I would get better yields my growing all-CBD plants and all-THC plants, and then mixing in the bowl.

Please don't get me wrong, I appreciate a well-bred strain! I love the flavours. But I appreciate all kinds, so long as my final mix is about 1:1 or maybe 1:2.
I've got photoperiod strains that work well for me in the fridge...I'm just waiting to get to some place where I can grow them (because there isn't room here).
And I might have to do the rooftop greenhouse long-term, so I am looking to see what is available in all-CBD regular autos, and +/- 1:1 mixes, so I can find strains that work well for me (although to tell the full truth, I never met a ganga I did not like! Haha.)

I hope I answered your question. If not, please ask again.

Hi @bluter ,
Sorry to bother you, but are you sure that there are piles of all-CBD (or high -CBD) auto regulars?
I went through the search mechanisms on the sponsors offerings. (Some of them I have been through already.)
All-CBD (or high-CBD) auto fems I can find without problem; but regulars, I have not seen.

I did a Google search for "all-CBD high-CBD autoflowering regular cannabis seeds" and got nothing.
Am I searching wrong?
Thank you.

they are out there. what do you want regs for ? you're gonna be wasting a lot of money on plants that don't produce what you are after. but they are out there.

what you want is auto fems if you are doing auto at all, otherwise don't bother. you'll get far better strains if you go with photos. autos mean the genetics have already been knocked down and weakened with a ruderalis strain.

they are out there.

Thanks! I hope I can find one.

what do you want regs for ?

Well, the only reason for high-CBD auto regs is that I need CBD, and my grow space is on the roof, with night security lights.
And I don't have a lot of inside space.
And budget is always an issue, so, we thought if we could grow our own seeds, then it would not be the same, but I could get my medical needs met that way, for much less cost.

My need is for 1:1 or 1:2 (or thereabouts).
My solution was to buy all of the 1:1 auto regular strains I could find (and I found 4), and then mix those with other fem 1:1 strains, to make variety, until I can go back to photoperiod one day.
(I can easily see spending $13 on a seed that I am going to veg for four months, and get a good harvest. But I have a hard time spending $13 a seed on autos, just to get my CBD needs met while am stuck here in this gated community.)

@Azimuth suggested that I could get a lot better yields if grew both:
A. All-CBD plants, and
B. All-THC plants, and then mix them in the bowl (to get my 1:1 or 1:2).

I can't wait to go back to photoperiods! I am just stuck with it for the time being, so I am trying to make the most of it.

We do have a 4x4 upstairs bathroom shower that could be converted into a grow room, and I keep chewing on it.
I thought I could grow three photoperiod girls in there, easy.
Only, I now I think maybe I could flower three males in there, and collect the pollen, and go and paint the pistils on the buds where I want it to make seeds (maybe one branch for each plant).

But are you a breeder? So, you are probably cringing at all of this.

If you let males go to pollen inside of your house, every grow (inside the house) in the next two or three years is gonna end up with seeds. Pollen is very good at getting where it needs to go.

Thanks @Sueet !
That seems like a very good warning.
Long story, but the grow space is an outdoor greenhouse on the roof.
The proposed "rooster house" is a 4x4 space in the rooftop bathroom.

If we can get the Visa situation resolved, we want to move to a piece of ground soon, with several greenhouses.
The girls will have the big greenhouse, and the boys will have to use a smaller greenhouse far away.
We know that bees and bugs spread pollen real good (and we want bees), but we are prepared to deal with it.

Hey @bluter , sorry to bother you.
I took your advice, and I went through every website on the sponsor page.
About 2/3rds of them had a good search feature, and on those pages I would search for an all-CBD or high-CBD auto regular, and found nothing.
I searched about the same number of websites, and found nothing.

There are five 1:1 auto regulars (and one is sold out).
There are lots of all-CBD or high-CBD auto fems (just not regulars).

I don't know, but I just wondered, some of the names are deceptive. For example there was a CBD Haze that is offered as a regular, but it only has 1% CBD (despite the name).

So, just to say it, I am not able to find all-CBD or high-CBD regular autos.
If you know of one, would you please let me know?
Thank you very much.
Best.

i dunno where you're looking. the first two random sponsors i checked had over five each. the third had 16. literally toss a dart and you'll hit one.

i've got a photo fem pack of 20:1 cbd/thc seeds from one of last yrs sponsors i've never used yet.

@bluter , thank you so much!
Only, are you sure these are auto REGULAR high-CBD seeds?
And if so, could I please beg you to send me a few links? Because I have been looking all over! (It would really help!)
Thanks!

lol
auto reg anything is not really a thing. there is little or no demand for anything reg in any kind of auto. it defeats the purpose of having an auto.

autos are created so the grower is certain to have a female producing plant.

Well, ok braugh. You are the expert (not me).
Only, if you ask me, what I need at the moment is a smoky all-CBD or high-CBD auto regular.

Well, I don't know what percentage of the market is fems, but it seems like the vast majority.
But there are some breeders who make regulars (and even auto regulars). I am just having a hard time finding one that has all-CBD or high-CBD.

I realize I am in a niche market, but right now my grow space is in a greenhouse on the roof, with security lights so strong you can read at night.
I hope to go back to photoperiods some day, but right now, my grow space calls for autos (because of the night security lights).

How much is involved in back-breeding, anyway?
