New Grower: Excited To Learn

I use a ton of hanna stuff for a fairly large saltwater aquarium hobby. Their stuff is top notch, but you must calibrate pens often, and or use their reactants, store vials in ro water when not in use, etc.

Regardless of the price and accuracy of the item, it's worthless if you don't use untainted check fluids pretty much every time to calibrate.

So, read up first.

Thanks nobodyhere, yes before I use that meter I will be thoroughly reading the direction and talking to thier support and thanks for the tip on keeping it stored in RO. Water

Good book does it have alot of information for growing going to look for it now
Its a great book. It has a lot of different ideas on a lot of different disciplines. One thing it taught me is to look at nutrient deficiencies and excesses by first looking to see if the problem is a mobile or immobile nutrient issue. This is the single strongest way to find the root cause (not to pun) of an issue. Once you understand how that works your nutrient reading will be much much easier. For that reason alone the book is worth it, but this is just one part of a 590 page book. Buy it

Vials that are used for certain instruments hanna makes are required to be stored in acidic RO water. IDK about pens. My blue pen says do not store in RO.

So, don't do what people say, just read and follow their instructions.

Hanna makes a storage solution. You really only need it when its not being used for a long amount of time. My meter is in it now. But if you use it a few times a week a damp piece of paper towel in the cap will keep the pen hydrated. The cap must stay on when not in use.

Thanks both of you I will read and reread the instructions and I will be on the phone with support from hanna before I use it and will follow instructions for how to store it safely and properly.
