I use IOS. To quote I use the arrow in the bottom right hand corner. It opens a new screen with the quote. From there I just delete the portion I don't want and then add my bullshit below the [\Quote] symbol.

The breeding project, I think I would love to do something like that in the future. In fact, that gives me a great idea LOL. More than anything, my girl realizes that this medicine that we are growing helps her with anxiety and insomnia more than anything that she has ingested from the pharmacy. That being said, a lot of the pain pills that I take from the pharmacy are better than marijuana for my back pain (So far), but I don't want to live the life of pills so experimentation is the key and she completely understands that.

I guess when you are growing out a male, you should definitely have him in a completely separate to space than any female plants due to pollination?

Yes, keep him away from any girls you don't want to see pollinated.

Keep in mind there are generally two types of breeding. Same tent pollination.....which is as simple as it sounds. You have your lady in flower and when she is has flowers that are big enough, move the male into the tent and every time one of the pollen sacs burst there will be a small cloud of pollen that spreads in the general area. I also blow on the male plant (shut up perverts!) and spread the pollen further.
This is what you want to do if you are going after maximum seeds. I suggest you wait a few weeks before you pollinate this method.

The second method is controlled pollination. Essentially you keep the male isolated. As the male pops his pollen sacs, you want to take a mirror and set it under the branch and kind of flick the branches with the pollen. The pollen will land on your mirror and you basically take a credit card or razor blade and and collect it. Then place the collected pollen in your test tubes and cut with flour to increase the amount (though honestly I don't think cutting it necessary.....I have harvested more pollen from one plant than I will ever use....I mean a shit ton). From there you would isolate the branch or branches you want to pollinate and then use a small artist paint brush and 'dust' a little on to the flowers you want to make seeds. The white hairs will turn red once she is pollinated and then shortly after, you see the pods start to swell. Then its a waiting game for the pods to start popping open.

It has been awhile since my reading but putting flour with your pollen isn't really to "cut" it. It's for long term storage. Dries it out. Like you said Van, you do get a lot of it.

I think that as long as you are careful with going from the tent to the flowers you would be fine. And who would be opposed to a handful of seeds every now and then?? LOL

Ultimately the pollen you're collecting is to change genetics, correct? Create your own strain? So why the paranoia about a bit of pollen...will it make the female plant crate only seeds instead....no viable bud? I know in the past I've found seeds in my herb, maybe once or twice....is that a hermaphrodite?

Yeah i saw Van do that. So just that I'm straight, pollinating your plant will ultimately create email? Or will it only create a female with piles of seeds? This is confusing me a bit LOL.

If you use a "regular" seed youll get male and female. If pollinated by a hermie you'll get female only of dubious quality.

DAY 12

I added one teaspoon of fish Emulsion fertilizer to two liters of water today when I watered the girls. Figured a little bit of extra at this point can't hurt. Normally by this point, I'm still only watering.

So because last week, we lost one of the most influential and respected Canadian music artists ever, I have decided to dedicate two of my plants names to the late great Gord Downie from The Tragically Hip. My 2 Snow White's are going to be named after songs created and written by Gord. My CBD plant, has the name Charlie, I know it's not always known as a female name but I lost a good friend yesterday and I want to make sure that he/she isn't forgotten.

Ok, so if you use male pollen on a female plant......it will create regular seeds. Some argue that females produced from regular seeds have potential to be better than feminized seeds. Feminized seeds are created by spraying either CS (colloidal silver) or STS (Silver Thiosulphate) on selected branch/branches and it will cause the female to produce its own pollen that will fertilize the flower. Now since there is no male chromosome in the breeding that way, all the seeds will be female without the danger associated with hermies.

STS (Silver ThioSulphate) is by all accounts the better option to use for making feminized seeds. Much less stress on the plant and you only have to spray like two or three times instead of daily with CS. If you find a killer female photo plant, and want endless seeds from that slut, I suggest getting some STS and having it onhand incase you find that awesome mom.
