My First Time Growing

It will be fine Smoke... Just get us a good pic tomorrow when you can and take the night off... You have worked really hard and best I can tell... There's really nothing that's a must for tonight my friend....:circle-of-love:

I think I got a good shot before your post, I took it using both an external light (the cellphone that won't take even halfway decent pic's has a flashlight mode and I took it through a magnifying glass. I just have to upload them, it will just take a minute. Then I can relax. Thank you though! I'll post it in a minute.

O.K., here are the 2 best pic's I could take thru the magnifying glass:

They aren't actually that bad, I'm surprised! I'll have to try the magnifying glass trick on other things I'm having a hard time getting a pic of. For the big plants I will just need an extra set of hands from my son.

OK much better... You see the stuff that is holding the top together.. That is the membrane and it shoud not be there. You need to do the drop of water thing Canna told you about and it will soften it up and by morning it should be off there and if not we will go from there... No biggie just get a drop of water on your finger and drop it on it and let it do it's thing...:thumb:...:circle-of-love:

You might be able to take a tooth picck or something and just flick it off too but be very careful when you do it...:circle-of-love:

I will try the drop of water again (I tried it twice today and then let it sit). I may have to give the toothpick a try. I appreciate the suggestions Dennise (BTW, The lights are back up to 17" in the tent again. I was going for 18", but when I measured it, it was 17" and I figured that was close enough, They seem to like it!

I read on here somewhere, that the enzymes in the saliva eat away the membrane. I've tried it and it works fast. Drop of spit on a toothpick and smear it on the membrane, it will loosen in seconds and then pick it off with the tip of the toothpick. Pass it on. :thumb:

I will try that next! I'm just letting her sit for a while with the water and if it doesn't come off, I'll try that. Thanks for the explanation, I can see how that would work now.

The enzyme in saliva that works on starch/carbohydrates is amylase. I'm skeptical that it breaks down seed membranes to any great extent. I've had popcorn hulls stuck in my teeth for long periods of time and they don't just melt away. Saliva is a superior lubricant and might help slip it off with the aid of a toothpick. Lick it and stick it. Nice tip, Dean.:cheesygrinsmiley:

That did it! Now I can see 2 bigger and the 2 smaller leaves. Thanks guys!

Oh wow, double post.. If you check BigBud's recent posts he's hitting a multiple journals with that cut-and-paste message... Anyway, like Smokey said, start a journal, BigBud.

I sent him a PM telling him to read the answers to his post before reposting it. I have no idea if it went thru since he is so new. You mean he is posting that on multiple journals at the same time? I didn't know you could do that even, but I'm still getting used to using all the options available here.

Oh, yeah. Smokey, if you click on a person's username above their avatar (the shield in your case) on one of their posts a bunch of options pop up like "view profile"

One of them is "view forum posts." If you click that you can pretty much see all the posts a member has made in chronological order. Try it with BigBud.

PJ, I would like your opinion, Jordan and Minnie seem to be getting too big for their containers, but the 1 gallon container is smaller than the ones they are in now. Do you think I should put them in the big containers I received from Amazon? I'm posting some pics here for you to see what I mean, The first is them in the bookcase now:

The second is why I don't think I can fit them in a 1 gallon pot:

and the next is how they would fit in the bookcase in the big pots:

The front even closes with these pots, If I'm getting ahead of myself, let me know. I just noticed today that they seem a little tight in the containers they are in now, Mostly Jordan because I used that thin 2 liter bottle. I am still working on finding that other CFL light for the bottom, But some days it's hard to get help looking for something that they don't think is real important after taking care of a handicapped guy like me for so long.

Wow, He's sending that out all over! I don't understand how he expects to get an answer by doing that because he could be anywhere.

Hmmm. I see what you mean about the Minnie Me pot. It would be dumb to put that in one gallon. Minnie is fine where she/he lives. The biggest plant in the bookcase should always end up in a 3 gallon pot shortly after the biggest plant in the bookcase moves into the flower tent.

In this case, Jordan is the biggest plant in the bookcase and should go into 3 gallons RIGHT NOW! THIS VERY MINUTE! You know I'm just joking about the right now part.

I expect if you measured the volume of the pot Minnie is in, it is close to 1 gallon. The nursery pot is just wider and shorter. Minnie will be fine in the container it's in for another ten days or so. Pot up Jordan, but not Minnie. Jordan has been in the pop bottle for what? Five days? We'll give Jordan like another week in three gallons and then move her into flower. When Jordan goes to flower, then Minnie get's moved into 3 gallons for 10-15 days.

Truthband should go into 1 gallon when Jordan goes into flower. We'll thrash a bit at first but we're zeroing in on a rhythm.

It was hard to gauge the size of the pots Jordan was in and Minnie is in now. The one gallon and 3 gallon nursery pots I understand because I use 'em myself.

What we're doing is an assembly line thing. Small plants in cups on the right in the pictures. Medium plant in 1 gallon in the middle. Biggest in 3 gallons on the far left. When the big one goes into flower the rest of the plants in the bookcase will shift left.

Yeah... Using that tool only takes a minute and is a great way to make a primary assessment of anyone who posts in your journal. Kinda like arriving at a crash scene. First you assess, then you react.
