My First Time Growing

The footprint of the big plants right now is about 1 square foot. You have 8 square feet to work with in the flowering tent. Flowering takes about 65 days (depending on the strain) from when the plant starts a 12/12 schedule. That means that you'll have 4-5 plants in the flowering tent at the same time once everything is full. That works out to one plant ready to harvest roughly every 15 days, too.

That's what's making sense to me based on the spaces you have available. There are some good eyes here that may have some other ideas. I'm going to ramble on a bit more in a bit to give them food for thought when they consider things.

PeeJay - since noone has said it yet - This is a mighty fine plan!

Simple, elegant, fast and effective. In my opinion, a very good plan :thumb:

The largest difficulty I see is finding enough seeds to plant 2-3 per month. Clones would be nice in order to have a consistent, repeatable, high quality product, but the smallest cloner I know of is the 8-site 1-Gallon Clone Bucket. I use it. It would be big enough for his needs, but would take up a 9" space in his cupboard. Obviously, there are enough free seeds floating around that seeds can appear, but it is expensive to buy a steady supply of the best seeds for Mr & Mrs Smokeater's needs. I wish I had a stash of feminised seeds to share. I hate to take up valuable grow space with male plants.

PJ, I'm sorry I must have missed that one. I do like your plan and am looking forward to having it up and running as you described. I switched the tent over to 12/12 this evening and starting tomorrow it will be running that cycle. Do I leave the lights all on (Right now, I put them on like you said and have both switches on)? I seem to remember some talk about changing the lights when we changed the cycle, but it may have been something I read while gong through other threads too.

I do have some feminized seeds and a bunch of regular ones now thanks to another kind person. The bookcase is back up and the tent only has Harley and Casey plus the cup with the Kush in it that hasn't shown itself yet. I do have 1 more Kush seed I could germinate if required, but I germinated a feminized "Amnesia" seed and planted it a couple days ago (just waiting for it to show itself). I figured with that name, it might be a good one to help get off the narcs when it grows up. A hit or two and I should be feeling it if the name is accurate.

Thank you Radogast for bringing that post to my attention, I either don't remember responding to it or most likely just missed it between posts. But like I said, I do have enough seeds to keep me going for a while so I'm doing O.K. now seed wise. I have 8 feminized and 13 regular seeds. All seeds have the name of the strain so I will know what they are before I plant them. Should be able to keep me going for a while I think! We are also saving money (granted, it's a small amount each month) for stuff I may need in the future. (That's how I saved the money for the plywood), but as time goes by who knows how we'll be doing and how much we can save. The sooner I have the perpetual going, the sooner I can quit the narc's and not have to pay my monthly co payment on my meds. I also have hypertension and some other problems that I'm hoping the cannabis will also take care of of those meds I should be able to quit too. In the long run, now that I think about all the copayments I have to pay each month, I may actually save a few dollars over the next few years. Oh well, I gotta go to sleep, I only slept about 4-5 hours today/last night so sorry for any typo's.

I love it when a plan comes together (que machine gun sound followed by A-Team theme). That makes me want to go and roll a cigar sized blunt and pretend to be Colonel Hannibal. Of course I am more like Howling Mad Murdock and lets face it, he and Face were likely smoking in the back of the van.

I ramble. Smoke you have a fantastic plan coming together.

I think cloning is in the future for Smokeater, and when that time comes there are some incredibly cheap ways to make a cloner.
You'll have fun with that Smokey!

On the question you asked Dennise about the "walnuts"....I have to say I laughed out loud. Sorry.....I had never thought of it that way.
Those are Hydroton pebbles (clay pebbles). We use them to help with distributing water more evenly on the top soil and they hold a little water as well.
This isn't something you need, so don't worry about having that.

Hope you had a good sleep bro!

That makes more sense than walnuts! But in the pic, that's what they looked like to me. I should have known.... You guys have some ingenious ways of doing things that I don't understand yet. Clones huh? I have actually been kind of dreading the day I heard that. But I have zero knowledge on that subject too. I picture trying to split a plant and it's roots and some very diffficult gardening procedures. Not that I'm afraid to try, I enjoy trying new stuff, It's just that the little I've read about it seems to always end up with a comment about keeping their fingers crossed or some such comment on how now they'll see if it took. Just comes off to a layman as sounding quite difficult. But I assume it's not as bad as I 'm making it in my mind, I was terrified of my first baby delivery and ended up having done that quite a bit over my career (alone a few times even when my partner would go back out to the rig to get something we'd need, the baby would decide that was the time he wanted to come out) and never had a problem (thank God!). I assume cloning is the same way, the plant does everything difficult and I just wait to see if it worked. And thanks, I slept like a baby, Sis. BTW, I PMed you

Is anyone else having trouble getting their post notifications in their email? I haven't received a single one today. Just swung by to see if anything had JUST posted and have seen a few posts with no emails yet. In fact, the post post that Dr. Bob made last night still hasn't been emailed to me.

Hey Smokey, I had put another site issue post up in the website help and feedback area on a different issue. 420 responded that they are having many many glitches to fix with some new software. It is all being worked out little by little with a big team of pro's.
So, I would say give it a little more time for the fix to happen.
We can always post another website help post if we find it continues too long.

In the mean time, you can check your "subscribed threads" in your settings if you want to see what has posts on it. Once you post to a thread, you are automatically subscribed. Hope that helps!

Here is a pic of Jordan after transplant into a 2 liter bottle last night and placed back into bookcase. I was worried about it after the transplant because the previous container was larger in diameter than the 2 liter bottle and it took some removing of dirt to get it to fit, but looking at it this morning, I swear she/he has grown a little already (I know that's not possible) but just looks good.

Thanks Canna, I have no problem waiting until they have it fixed. I was just wondering if the problem was with me or the board. You answered that for me, so Thank you!

I would say Beyond All Repair since it reminds me of FUBAR.

Ha Ha. Beyond All Repair was Reggie on his first grow attempt but now he's Bangin' All Reefer.

I really liked the strains for pain recs you made for Smoke - Aurora Indica and NYC Deisel. Both are solid predictable genetics with proven track records, one daytime and one night time. Can Bonza ship to an address that differs from the billing addy, David?

Dayum, Smoke! Look at Jordan and Minnie go! :yahoo:

Looking at the 2 ltr bottle it would be nice if it had a bigger diameter but we work with what we can. I'd say when Minnie goes into a bigger pot the milk jug might be a better choice. You seem to have stress free transplanting down cold. Great job.

Thanks PJ, I do feel a lot more comfortable with it than I did the first time. I agree with you about the milk jug for Minnie especially after trying to squeeze Jordan down to the size of a 2 liter bottle. I had to remove a bunch of outside dirt to make her/him fit and was worried about how it would turn out until this AM when I looked and saw Jordan flourishing. Hopefully we are going to Home Depot today for the plywood because I'm going to try and see if we can afford a can of black spray paint for the milk jug and any other clear containers I come across. It's gonna be difficult to duct tape a milk jug because of the handle.

Smokey, for the cost of a can of spray paint you can probably buy several nursery pots about 1 gallon in size. You might have to get the somewhere other than Home DePot but that is the way to go, honestly.

Sounds like the plan then. I didn't even think of that. I also have 2 other pots than the ones someone got me at Amazon. I have to dig them out, all I remember is that they are Fiskars self watering (the self watering is why I haven't dug them out yet) but maybe the bottoms come off. I will try to find them today. Thanks for the idea of getting pots instead of spray paint. That makes a lot more sense!

The bottoms usually pop right off those self watering pots and they can be set in a drip tray..

Edit: I looked those up and it doesn't look like the bottoms pop off those. Also they have a wide decorative rim so they waste valuable space. Nursery pots are cheap and space efficient.
