My First Time: AK47 & Gold Bar Kush

nice job MrGreene

I found the ceiling track a bit easier to work with than the stock aluminum I used for Sue's second set of frames.

I will probably reuse one of the original frames when I stream line the Vero240 she gave me.
It's a big unit.
I'm also thinking of incorporating a reflector.

That ceiling track is great to work with. It's very stable hanging there.

Can't wait to see what you do with that light. Lights could become an addiction for me.

When your sitting on 90 heatsinks and 122 COBs....it's time to talk to someone.

The call of the cannabis cultivator:

MORE LIGHT!!!

I thought I would do a quick little update since it has been 2 days with the added lights in the flower tent. I think AK is looking good still. The first AK clone is determined to flower also so I went ahead and put her in the tent tonight after turning AK and moving her towards the back a bit.

I added a third flood light over GBK since she is getting so big.

Cinderella 99 and Columbian Gold are starting to get a little bigger. The second AK clone and the first GBK clone are trying to decide if they like soil life. Of course the leaf experiment is almost finished. lol

GBK is stunning! That's a good looking indica. Any you know what, AK47 is a good looking sativa dominant.

The way they both look, if you haven't in the last week, I would consider feeding more nutrients. A great looking flowering girl can always take a few more nutes. If she starts to look 'rode hard and put away wet', then you can back off a little :)

You are doing quite well !

The girl in the back right - is she flowering?

p.s. If you can put an overturne pot or something under the little AK47 in flower, she will appreciate the exta light.

also, how is your humidity?

Thanks Rad. GBK seems huge. She is overflowing her ten gallon pot and is more than two feet wide and tall. I think she will be huge when I put her in flower.

I think it's been almost a week since they've had any nutrients. Seems like it was last Sunday night. Rode hard and put away wet. I've used that saying about horses and about date night but never about plants. Lol

That girl in the back right is the second AK clone and looks like she wants to flower also. Everything seems to point to AK being an auto.

Humidity shows high in that pic at 60 percent because the meter is against the fabric pot and the soil is damp. I moved it up to the light frame before I left for work so I'll report a real number tonight.

Thanks for answering all my questions - I get a bit nosey sometimes.

Nice to hear those humidity levels. I thought they must be good, your girls are happy!

GBK does look like she will be huge - what's your plan on when to flower?
I'm still gathering data, but is seems like once the canopy can be trimmed to 18" thick, thats about the maximum yield - but my highest yielding plant (over a year ago) had a canopy 3' thick before she flowered - so I don't really know :)

It's growers choice on when to flower GBK. It's not too early. There doesn't seem to be such a thing as too late.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have Rad. It's usually pretty clear that they are to help me along. Thank you for watching after me.

I knew they were probably ok too, but it was good to get real numbers. I know that 60 percent showing was a big concern.

My plan is to rearrange the growing areas this week. I ordered two more tents this week. I'll probably move AK into one of the new tents with another set of cobs, put GBK in the 32 inch tent with the current cobs, and move veg into another tent. I would like to see GBK fill out just a little more before going into flower but she is packed pretty tight in the current space. If she gets much taller and doubles in height during stretch, then I will be out of height in the 32 inch tent. It is only 5 feet tall. There's already 8 inches of swick, 12 inches of pot, plus 24 inches in plant height.

I don't think very much has changed since the last update.

AK47, the first AK clone, and GBK all got nutes tonight. The rest got a top watering. I'll refill all the swicks later tonight or tomorrow.

Conderella 99 is in the front left, Columbian Gold is behind her, the second AK clone is in the back right, and the First GBK clone is the front right. The first GBK clone looks like she might not make it. That was from when she was topped and it was a pretty short cutting to clone, so I took a third clone last night. The other two GBK clones are in the bubble cloner. I'm not sure if I've mentioned the piece of cardboard behind the plants in veg. That is there to block light from getting into the return air duct. I realized the other day that one of the return air ducts was right there so I cut a hole in the wall. After that I added a carbon filter to the furnace as a prefilter. It already has an electronic air filter that removes all odors, pollen, etc.

GBK is still doing her thing. I rotated her a bit and see a few dead leaves where she has been tight against the wall for too long. Otherwise I think she is still ok. I'll move her into the 32" tent later this week so she can have a little room.

20170430_220100.jpg

AK47 and the first AK clone seem to be doing well also. I just realized that I didn't get the clone up on a stand yet. Humidity has been pretty constant at 40 percent and temps have been about 77 degrees. Lights are still on 18/6.

I'll get started on a 5 or 6 cob array tomorrow night for the 24"x24"x48" tent that I hope AK will fit into for the rest of her time. It'll be a tight fit. If I'm still motivated after that, then I 'll go ahead and put together a set of veg lights for the new 20"x36"x63" veg tent.

Good thinking on the carbon prefilter. They get mighty stinky as they mature. :laughtwo:

I'd have to agree with your prognosis on that sad little clone. Might want to give it up on her, stop the suffering. I know how hard that is to do. I have a rediculous record of pulling them and then keeping them alive anyway. What can I say? I have a soft heart.

Your AK-47s are rockin' that tent buckaroo! :high-five:

I thought that too much filter is better than not enough. I have all the pieces here to make a 6" carbon filter but haven't had the need to do that yet. AK has been stinky ever since I repotted her weeks ago. It was pretty skunky then but has changed into something more earthy and pleasant.

I'll probably give that GBK clone a few more days just to make sure. I hate to lose any plant.

I'm glad you think the flower girls are doing well. I thought they were but have no reference other than pics I've seen around here.

Healthy leaves in a good posture, great structure and decent bud development. I'd say you have this cultivation thing well in hand. There's so much more to learn in the years ahead it'll make your head spin, but you have a good handle on the basics.

Why does this not surprise me in the slightest? :kisstwo:

I read thousands of pages around here before even thinking about growing and still feel like I'm not educated enough. I learned to watch the leaf posture from your last 500 page journal when you would watch that to know when to water.

Has anybody told you how sweet you are? :hugs::kisstwo:

You do all the time. :battingeyelashes:  It pleased me emensely to hear you were able to learn that from my journal. Proper watering, in particular letting them get dry enough in veg but then not getting too dry in flower, is one of the more delicate techniques that will help your plants thrive. Developing the massive rootball that flowering requires for dense bud structure is as much instinct as anything.

You're doing wonderfully well. :hugs:

I've been checking out the ladies tonight trying to plan their futures and plan the grow spaces. Should I expect AK to finish in a couple weeks or more like six weeks?

Second question is about how big GBK is getting. I think she is 26" tall now. I found the place where I split her a few weeks ago and that is 16" below the tops. You can still see some of the yellow tape way down there. I can spread her a bit so that more light will get to the center and down low after she gets her own space. Right now she is wider than the 10 gallon pot already and there isn't a good place to tie her up to. I also thought about topping her at the four main tops, maybe taking off a couple inches to even up her canopy but will wait on recommendations before I do anything. She is getting pretty thick on the 4 main tops. Almost as big around as a "sharpie" marker a couple inches down.

I've just let her do her own thing since splitting her. I think it's time to do some grooming to her.
