My First Plant - Cookie Killer (Auto)

I tried to warn you in an earlier post

Its a fun and rewarding hobby.

Good luck with Bertha and The other one

Yes you did try to warn me. 😂 Not really sure if I'm the victim or the crime though when push comes to shove!

Now after reading what you said I wish I would have named The Other One the Other One. 😂😂😂

If you want to be derogatory to your plant you could call her "THOT".

One of my nephews, when we were out, pointed at a young woman and called her a THOT. I had no idea what that meant so when I asked and he told me I couldn't help but laugh. I scolded him and told him he shouldn't talk about others that way but at the same time after understanding what the acronym meant....he wasn't wrong. She was a THOT!

I think she (my plant) was hungry more than thirsty. Lol 🙂

Thanks to @Renee Roberts for combining this thread with the grow journal. This is a powerful resource to me as a newbie and I would think for others too.

Here's another addition from my manual journal to keep it current here. This helps me to keep things straight. 🙂☮️

Yes and no, according to the author the best way to read them is to go with:

Microbes, Bacteria, Fungi, Nutrients in that order. I also recommend that order because Nutrients gets really dense and it’s very useful to understand how everything works first. I originally started with nutrients and had to read it twice then go back and read it again after the other three

Here’s a video you really need to check out if you’re interested in organic growing (shoutout to @seaofgreen18 for the updated video):

I watched this video last night. It is excellent and provides a good outline for me in a very helpful way. Thanks man! 👊👍

I'm loving this book! To just even have a mental picture of what's going on under the surface of the soil is helpful. I had no idea!

In the past I have always appreciated using both my knowledge of plants and intuition to grow them. But, this was all based on NPK and what I could see on the surface of the soil and the foliage of a particular plant.

I thought it was just a plant above the ground and roots below. I had no idea there was a whole other world underground with all kinds of things going on that I cannot see.

Glad your enjoying it.

Wait until you find out root hairs are caused by rhizophagy bacteria literally exploding out of the roots in a life death cycle. Everything we know and see, including us, is microbes

"Everything we know and see, including us, is microbes." Wow, I love thinking about this. 👍

Maybe this is why some of us get addicted to growing weed right after the first hit. Whether we know it at the time, or not, it all funnels down to a philosophy and/or a spirituality on a subterraneous level, especially for those of us who resonate with Mother Earth to start with.

I'm getting more than I bargained for in a very good way with my decision to join this forum, and to grow weed. It seemed like a magical thing to me from day one and still does now on both counts. I'm really liking where this is all going. 👍☮️🕉️

It's not easy to see in this picture, but I just noticed she is leaning forward and to the left. She is 28" tall and between the buds and the branches I'm feeling the need to put a stake next to the main stem to give her some support so she doesn't break.

I guess I don't want to push a stake through the roots, but when I turn the pot to water it I see it wabbling and can picture her breaking in half before she finishes her life cycle. 😳 Any thoughts?

When I was younger I worked at an arboretum and after that had my own commercial horticultural service. My boss at the arboretum had a BS on n Horticulture. He told me that botanist's and microbiologists can tell you all about the cellular structure of a plant and it's horticulture, but they can't grow one themselves. And, I never saw the need to pursue knowledge in these other areas. I was happy to use my knowledge experience and intuition when it came to taking care of plants from a horticultural perspective. I'm grateful now to be learning so much in addition to the horticulture of weed now. I shouldn't have resisted learning more as I did about the entire puzzle. It's like the method hasn't changed, there is just more knowledge and experience to draw from and elevate my instincts. The more I learn here the more I see how limited I have been. 🙏☮️

I have been noticing early signs of rust spots on previously unaffected leaves again. It is moving slowly as opposed to spreading like wildfire like last time.

The next time I can water will be on Wednesday. I'm thinking of giving her a cocktail like last time only a low dose cocktail -- cal/mag, fish emulsion 5-1-1, and bloom 0-10-10.

I gave her only water last time, so now I'm wondering about feeding her again this time based on reading the leaves.

I know she won't grow any new leaves but I'm wondering about helping bud growth now. Any thoughts please?

Fish emulation 5-1-1 is a touch high in N for my liking but not terrible.
Proper P&K is important from here on with warm dry temps and as much light energy as she can handle.
A proper line of nutrients is important and a good way to learn her needs.
Guessing what and when to give her without really knowing her needs will be difficult. :Namaste:

Thank you! 🙏

Here's a better picture of her after her trim just now.

Just let damaged leaves fall off.
They still have some nutrient value and can absorb some energy for her.
I don't remove anything. :Namaste:

I waffled back and forth on this before I did it. Not sure if this is a benefit or not, but all the bud zones are getting significantly more light now. I guess the chaos continues. 😂

The leaves you removed were pretty damaged so I don't think there was much energy left in them. Removal of the leaves certainly allows more light energy to hit the healthy leaves which is a good thing. Large fan leaves like that take energy for the plant to maintain. I usually remove most fan leaves once they've been around for a while and are blocking light to other bud sites.

You can also do what @Bill284 said and just leave them there until they fall off. It's really a personal choice but I don't see their removal as harming the plant in any way. I could be wrong as this is an auto plant so ultimately it is your decision but IMO I don't think it's a big deal either way.
