My First Plant - Cookie Killer (Auto)

Like neem, it may turn the hairs dark prematurely but unless you're trying to make seeds we don't really need them anyway except for an indicator as to when to harvest.

The buds may not look as good, but the extra quickly delivered nutrition might make it worth it.

#Tradeoffs. 🤔

Right, tradeoffs. I guess I'll use an index card as a shield and do the best I can to not spray the buds. Thanks!🙏👍

Basement? That's where I keep mine. And no smell unless you're doing something wrong.

Another alternative is to start a bokaski bucket for kitchen scraps. Bokashi is an important input in @Bill284 's grow, and if you've seen his plants they seem to really like it!

Bokashi is done anaerobically in a closed bucket you could keep under the sink, so also no smell if you do it right.

Outside in cold enough temperatures the worms themselves will freeze and die if you don't insulate the bin well enough. BUT, there should be enough cocoons ready to hatch when the weather warms to reestablish the herd.
I tried scraps in the soil of the greenhouse one year.
I usually mix it in the root zone for healthy massive roots.
I add @DYNOMYCO and a blend of frass.
My roots love the combo.
Hope your doing well Amigo :high-five:

You can spray calmag on early flower with no ill effects but if you can spray around them, it would be best. Leaves are the best place for foliar as they will absorb the foliar more efficiently and be able to affect the deficiency quickly but if some over or direct spray gets on them no big deal. You're early into flower so most anything that gets on them will breakdown over the time the flower is maturing. I'm guessing you have around 8 weeks of flower to get through to harvest.

Wow 8 weeks, I never would have guessed that. From what I read I thought I would be harvesting in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for the comments and reassurance about spraying today. 👍👍👍

You can almost always expect at least an 8 week flower. If it’s sativa or a sativa blend you can expect longer. I just harvested a sativa hybrid that went 110 days and it could’ve gone longer if I didn’t want it out of the room.

A lot of growers harvest far too early. They base their harvesting on the number of days. The plant will tell you when it’s ready to be harvested. If you can hold off until then you’ll be rewarded with considerable increases in both yield and quality.

I do not have a basement:confused: I guess I will have to wait for the spring thaw.

I am following @Bill284 advice and just started using Bokhashi and insect frass layered with perlite in my FFOF for the 5 clones I just up potted in the tub.

Hi Bill,

All is good here......It's Colder than my xwifes heart here today. Been out workin in the shop today working on some wood working projects. Hope all is good in your corner of the world. Winter is 1/3 over and I have cabin fever already. Fishing season can't come fast enough.

I could ice fish in the back yard if I were younger 🤣
This cold snap has been making ice so fast.
Spring can’t come quick enough for me either.
Only a third over 😟
Stay warm buddy we will have tight lines soon. :thumb:

Nope.. Autoflowers can go pretty long too. It’s all dependent on the strain and to a lesser extent the pheno expression of that strain. On average an auto won’t reach 110 days of flower but it’s not unheard of. It will however flower for 8 weeks pretty easily. I had an auto this summer flower for 80 days.

Most breeders, and even the really reliable ones, put shorter flowing times up. It’s pretty well known that if a breeder claims a 6 week flower it’s more likely to be 8. It’s actually fairly rare to not exceed the advertised time in my experience and most others I’ve encountered.

Thanks for explaining this. Looks like I fell for the marketing. ✔️👍

You’re not the first and won’t be the last. It’s one of the more common complaints/questions we get.

“Breeder said 65 day flower, I’m at day 65 is it ready?”

And the whole plant will still be covered in cream colored stigmas with at least 2-3 weeks left.

I've found that breeder times are accurate if you use first sign of flower as when the clock starts.

That will get me closer to advertised times but I still almost always go over. I have a problem with timing it like that anyway because it’s so open ended. I don’t flip to flower until they’re sexually mature, so at least 54 days. By this point nodes are alternating and stigmas are visible. When I flip my lights stretch begins with 3-5 days.

So by that point I’ve already got 2 signs up. Then there’s the stretch itself. If I were to count the days starting after stretch has finished then I could get even closer. However, starting your flower count after stretch happens is like selling something for $999.99 and claiming its under a thousand dollars.

Technically it’s under a thousand but not really. Technically flowers aren’t growing but Stretch is definitely a part of flower. The hormones have shifted, she’s growing at a rate beyond veg, and she’s in the process of blooming. You would have to reveg at that point because the hormone cascade has already happened.

Now that I’ve soap boxed about the grey areas of growing 🤣 I say all that to say, if you don’t have shareholders or patients you answer to (aka a personal home grower), then growing by the calendar will stress you and your plant out more than anything. The plants will tell you when it’s time to harvest without ever having to look at the trichomes or the calendar and your end product will be larger, and better for it.

She’ll stop drinking or slow down to a noticeable crawl. The majority of her stigmas will be orange/red and crinkled in. At that point, where she’s no longer consuming and she’s stopped pushing new stigmas out she’s ready. I’ve always been of the belief that if you want a specific high you need to find the specific strain and pheno. Messing with when to harvest her only cuts off what she’s truly capable of and prevents her full expression.

@Keffka Right "999.99" . . . It's like I just went back and reread the info where I ordered my seed and saw a + sign that I didn't see when I ordered. When I ordered all I was focused on was "Comprehensive" life cycle: 8-9 weeks.

Just now I saw there is a + sign I missed the first time, 8-9+ weeks. It's like your mileage may vary.
