My First Journal: GG#4 In DWC & Soil

Looks like the boys have taken care of your questions. I agree 100% with everything Chris and Penny have told you. Regarding the topping off. I run the blue lab guardian monitoring system in my buckets. In veg I usually top off with RO water and adjust the PH if necessary. After the flip the amount that they drink goes way up as they all told you. 5 gallon buckets are almost a must have if you are topping off just once a day.

Topping off after the flip I watch the nutrient levels in the res. Most of the time I have 1/2-1/4 strength nutrient mix to top off. Straight RO will plumet the levels if that is all I used for a week.

I also agree with what Penny and Chris are telling you about DWC and scroging a stand alone DWC bucket. I use one of these to drain and fill my buckets so I don't disturb things too much.
You could fill buckets with this method bu getting the suction end in the bucket would be tough with the net up there.

Yea I was going to be adding the L tubes for water levels and such to make life much easier. Just ideas though that I am pondering. But not even sure it's worth creating a project for a scrog. As it was being talked about above, I wasn't even thinking about the tops cant move because of the net lol. She is just starting to drink and eat noticeably in a 24 hr period now so I want to get prepared for it.

Her she is in her final resting home....There's a leaf or 2 down the bottom i was going to remove but I am going to let her leach the nutrients from them a bit. Overall she is looking great!!!

Congrats on the flip Bubbs can't wait to watch that girl flower out.
Thank you. The others will be right behind her. They are starting to get a little to big for my liking. So hopefully in the next few days they go in the dark room then flipped.

So I am curious.....the look the leaf has right now, is that from basically being blocked out by all the leaves up top? Normally in soil I don't pay too much attention. Now I just want to know why and what I am looking at happening....

She is really starting to grow. Her stretch is going to be a little nerve racking as I know I am going to run out of room.....fast. She is nearly taking up the entire 3x3 tent. I'll be upping her PPm level in the 1300 range then adding bloom nutes the following res change.

Time to get the soil plants ready for the flip too.

I put my soil plants into the dark rooms last night. Tomorrow morning, I'll be taking them out and under 12/12 lighting they go. I am going to be shuffling some plants so I will be keeping the soil plants in the 2x4 under the SP-250 for right now. Eventually they will be moved.

I am going to open up the DWC plant a little to. Her growth is honestly mind blowing to me. Sure wish I would have started hydroponics much earlier. She is a confirmed female. Next res change is tomorrow so next week I will be introducing the bloom nutrients.

Plants now in flower are as follows....GG#4 DWC & soil, Grand Daddy Purple, Grape Ape, White Widow, Glue Cookies, Sour Diesel, Tutankhammon, Badazz OG Cheese, Jack Herer, Peanut Butter Breathe X ZSkittlez (unnamed cross) , Grapefruit, Super Dense Auto and Garlic Dawg.

Love Potion #69 is growing nicely. So far she is short with fat rounder leaves. About a week and I will be moving her into her 3 gallon fabric pot. Topping are day 15.

Next week's res change I will be introducing her first bloom nute feed. She is just about touching both sides of the 3x3 tent. Action being taken rapidly to adjust to the larger plant sizes.

She was a day behind, now she is about 3 times as big. I still can't really digest how fast and bigger plants in DWC are compared to soil. DWC plant is just remarkable. She's growing a minimum 1 inch per day and drinking roughly 2 liters or 1 half gallon of water. daily.

Soil plants starting to realize summer is over. GDP and Grape Ape are confirmed females as well.

I am not sure if you have used Fox Farm before in DWC....but the Big Bloom leaves like a build-up on the bottom of my bucket. This is what had me thinking the pump wasn't strong enough. The water is "boiling" rapidly and well enough IMO but yet I still get the fine build-up on the bottom. It isn't much either but it's there...

EDIT*** I can get a picture if needed.
I use AN for soil and the big bloom also leaves residue in my watering pitcher. I've tried to scrub it out but it won't come out. my plants don't seem to mind this residue even when I mix a new feed so I wouldn't be worried.

I have a question for you @BubbleBucketz You mentioned you had great success with Fox farm in soil. but you went with GH for the DWC. I use AN for my soil and it has been hard to tune in. I just bought some FF a few days ago intending to specifically use them in DWC. maybe others can add input but should I just save my FF for my next soil grow and pick up some GH? or should I just use my fox farm for the DWC and see what happens?

I am using the FF still as I didn't want to switch in the middle of the grow just in case it harmed the plant and set it back. I am having the best grow on the DWC plant I have ever gotten ever in a grow. Once the grow is finished and I see final product, I may run the next grow with 2 DWC in FF and 2 DWC in GH. Right now though I am loving the results I get with the FF. Just make sure you use the hydro schedule and not the soil schedule for the FF nutes in DWC. They are about 50% less then soil measurements per week....if the final product is good, I may not even switch the nutrients at all. Hope this helps.

What you are mentioning about residue is why I use the GH nutes in DWC. It's very clean even with the bloom boosters. I tied AN in DWC and didn't care for it. My roots are bright white and I don't get staining with it.

I think after you see what that DWC girl is going to do you will see that you need to flip them earlier, mantain training through the first part of the stretch so they don't go wild. My trainwreck outgrew the tent I had it in and I still had to super crop it when I put it in the big tent. She is a hot mess right now.

Mine isnt at the hot mess point yet but she is getting there. Well over 1 inch per day and she's only been in about a week. I am getting ready to open her up a little more and give her a little clean up as she needs it.
