My First Journal: GG#4 In DWC & Soil

Today my new pump arrived for the 4 site system. I switched out the pump with the newer one. The pump prior was fine but now I can run more lines. I did just throw a bubble cloner together really fast. I have a Jack Herer in flower I wanted a cut from to grow out. I did fill the net pot after the picture.

Here is the Love Potion #69 getting it's first breathe of fresh air.

I like your cloner, good thinking.
Thanks. I will eventually make a bigger one for more cuts but I wanted to take the Jack cut before it was too late. Hopefully I can get it to root now. I've never tried rooting a clone like this before.

Keep them moist and plenty of oxygen. They’ll root.
I have the water actually just hitting the bottom of the net pot to keep the rockwool wet. Once it roots, I'll drop the water level down some. Thanks for following along.

@Chris Scorpio I remember you saying your GG#4 was only like 40 some days when you flipped. Do you have a picture of it prior to flipping by any chance? I really dont see me being able to veg for 2 more weeks and still have room without taking half the plant away.

Looking great bubs! :passitleft:
Thank you. Everyone following along got me to where I am honestly. I would be dealing with root rot I am sure by now or just a dead plant if i did it on my own. At least my next journal wont be a million questions lol.

Mine stretched about 18-24"

I'd have to search for pics

Maybe later
No need to search then. Just was trying to get an idea to plan it out. Normally I flip my plants by size not veg time and I am starting to push that limit now. I am thinking I am going to have to start soil plants a good week or 2 behind the DWC plants to get them in the same time frame of size and such.

I am thinking the new pump I hooked up yesterday did make some kind of difference. She just looks extra happy this morning. More perky then usual anyways.

I have 2 that should be coming down in about a week...maybe 2.

Most of these will be going in my closet once the other 2 come down. Gotta start making room soon for the plants I have in veg. Just a constant rotation of plants. Always something to do in the garden. Really excited to be adding the DWC system shortly. New grow rooms? Yes please!!!

Looking much better for sure.
I figured with the extra oxygen being created by the stronger pump that it created a chain reaction to improve her overall. The other pump came with the kit so it's probably the cheapest one they can find. It worked well in the start but possibly suffered as she started growing larger. Just assuming though....

It must have been the lack of air causing her to droop like that. Mine started drooping like that when I lost power for 3 hours. It doesn't take much in DWC to drown them. Yours looks looks great now.

I have a GG#4 growing now and she isn't stretching that much but she is in coco so that makes a comparison moot. In the tent picture I posted she is lower right.

You have quite the garden going over there. Everything is looking good. I wish I could set up another tent but until we go legal I have to keep it small scale so I can take it down in a hurry if I have to.

One thing that I am going to add to my arsenal before changing over to DWC completely next run is a couple of DC air pumps and a large deep cycle marine battery on a trickle charger in case we lose power again.

DC 12V Portable Fish Tank Pond Aquaculture Hydroponics Aquarium Air Pump

(2) of those should bring plenty of air to the a (4) bucket system in a pinch.

I grew some GG#4 seeds from a different broker that advertises here. Unfortunately only one out of five seeds had traditional chunky buds that collapsed the plant because of the weight that you are hoping for. The others were Sativa leaders (2 were genetic garbage) so despite the long colas, I did not clone them. The lone chunky one from the first grow I fortunately cloned and I'm revegging it right now and am growing a clone from it.
I popped a GG#4 from another broker and it's likely a Sativa. Long fan leaves instead of the short wide ones but who knows what it turns out like.
Here they are. Toronto Cannabis seeds is on the left. Middle is the clone of the one that is revegging on the right.

The next shot is of the long cola ones I did not clone

Like I said, I had the small little cheapo pump that came with the bucket as a set. Now that I am building a setup I just hooked up the new pump so I can add a little bubble cloner fast. This is the pump I am running now. VIVOSUN 332 GPH 4 Outlets Adjustable Air Pump 14W. I have it on the lowest setting right now because anything more would damage the roots. After 24 hours, the pump isn't hot either. Such a big improvement overnight though.

These GG#4's are from New420GuySeeds. One of the sponsors here. I also ordered Expert Gorilla from Seedsmans which is basically the same thing. Same parents anyways...I am going to take a cut or two off each one just in case. I got 2 that are the ones I am journaling and I also have one in a Solo cup that's almost 2 weeks old. Those colas are insane though. How did the smoke turn out?

Don't worry about damage to the roots with too much air as long as you have good stones that yeild small bubbles. I am running (2) 2" X 4" stones in the one bucket with a 950gph commercial pump behind it. That is way overkill as the 950gph is for two buckets but I am only running one this time around.
