How far down from the tip do you recommend I crop them? I'm new to that technique.

When I do it, I try to bend the ones that are taller than the bulk of the canopy, and I bend them at that level (the approximate height of the main canopy)... roughly. In a day or so, it'll bend back up somewhat and the tip will be roughly level to the rest (typically speaking). I try to gently pinch and crush the inner part of the stalk, and then gently massage/twist it until it flops over at that point. Sometimes you end up with a small split, but it doesn't usually have any negative effect.

thanks alkhemist for the reps and kind words. the heavy 16 professional foliar nutrient i've been using leaves a slight waxy coating on the leaves. i think thats what looks iridesecent in the pics. the girls just love that stuff.

came home today and thought here comes the next battle of the screen. then i read canna's post and was on the floor. yeah i dont know if i should start lollypoping or wait for bit . they are hard charging the lights and eating alot. ppms went form 985 down to 900 today do going to bump up to 1050 ish maybe 1100. ph is 5.6 today.

bumped up the ppms to 1050 last night and today ppms where going up and ph down so i added two gals of water to bring down to 1000
ph is 5.5 today is day 5 of flower.

had to lower ppms again because they were rising. added 21ml of cal mag to res. seems i've been seriously under doing the cal mag. i've got a slight tip burn and i dont know if its from the under feeding cal mag or when i bumped ppms up. probably the cal mag. i'm going to go with 5ml gal tomarrow at res change cut the silica and low amount of fire and prime. going to clear out under the screen tomarrow.
ph has been rock stable. i added ro water thats 6.8 into the res and the ph doesnt move.
also wanted to note that i had a build up in my hoses before going to zone and now the hoses are clean. was probably bennys breeding out of control.

well i started measuring my light spacings and i can raise my lights more but not much and i want to leave the lights on ratchet ropes so i went ahead a cleared out under the screen tonight. hopefully that will pump their brakes. will wait till day 21 and defolilated above screen.

res change today , the girls are going to finally get the cal mag that they have been begging for. lollypoped the hell out of them last night and they still stretched a little last night. so i moved the ds 350 and the ds 200 up as high as they will go. still got the ds 100 on rope ratchet because growth on that side is shorter. anymore stretch and i will have to start supercroping.
new res 325ppms cal mag. 65ppms fire , 75ml prime and base up to 965ppms . ph'd to 4.8, hour after in system ph 5.6. will probably have to adjust once tonight then should be solid for the rest of the week.
