Re: My First Grow Journal OG #18 - Scrog - Recirculating Aero/DWC 600w LED Medical Gr
Some people run them together, but I prefer to do just the "Zone" on it's own in my active hydro systems. In coco coir, I do just the opposite: "Hygrozyme" without the "Zone".
On the cal/mag... this is just my experience, but even with nutrients that "should" have enough of cal and mag, transition and early bloom seem to call for a slightly greater amount with some strains/phenos. Also, if PH isn't staying in the right range enough, the plants may not be able to use it appropriately or something could be locked out. On paper, I shouldn't need to supplement cal/mag at all with the nutrients I use, but I've found that in reality sometimes I do, especially in transition and early bloom. Magnesium can be a tricky one as it's pretty finicky with PH. This is part of why it's important to not lock your PH target on too narrow of a range or number, and beneficial to let PH drift through a range, for example, with magnesium:
Magnesium gets locked out of Hydro and Soil less Mediums at ph levels of 2.0-5.7
Magnesium is absorbed best in Hydro and Soil less Mediums at ph levels of 5.8-9.1
Sounds like you have a good plan.
thanks xlr8, i'm running 15 gal in the system. i do use ro . yes i used florakleen at the smallest recommended rate. wont do that in mid growth again. ive been tring to run between 80-120ppms of calmag because heavy 16 is made for ro water and has several different types of calcium and mag. at 120 they seemed to do well. i backed off a bit last res change before this flush and change about to 80ppm. i added 3ml last night to the res. i'm going to run 150ppms next change and add some more to this res in a couple of days.
thanks for info on florakleen this was the first time i used this product and the last mid grow. my recommend dose for calimagic is 5ml gal but that is 325 ppms. which is more than 33% of my total ppms, i'm running in the low 900's right now. i'm getting heavy 16's foliar which has four types of calcium and other micronutes. hopefully that will help.
i'm also going to stop the prime until after i switch to zone. the microbe tea brewing in the res is causing ph to swing up quickly, ive been on top of adjusting but it hasnt let my ph stay under 6.0 for very long. two more weeks with bennys no prime and then i'll go zone.
would you suggest using hygrozyme with zone?
thanks for everything
Ill let x answer but I know hiker runs hygrozyme and zone together without issue. My understanding is zone does very well on its own tho.
