My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Movers

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

I have to step in with the self promoting convo, maybe we can bring back the excitement... That rule was put into place because people were spamming other members visitor messages, private messages, journals and everywhere else. There were even people using other sites to get votes. Everyone in the contests should have a link in their sigs. The more it is out there, the more peeps that will participate in them.
Looking all good in the hood Jon, looking forward to see how that Chernobyl turns out...

PS ahahahaha, I see I don't have a contest link in my sig!!!! :smokin2:

Well said. That's what I was trying to convey too, that the problems were more in the past with people saying "VOTE FOR ME!" in everyone elses, threads, PM's yada, yada. (I hadn't heard other sites - crazy!)

Just calling out the contests in your signature is well... handy! I'd probably forget to vote many months if it weren't right there in my signature. Seeing it in others is a nice reminder too.

I'm really glad you commented on this Irie, as you have valuable perspective.

Jon, I'm really glad that you have come back around on things a bit - you were nominated for good reason, and really deserve to be there. :thumb:

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

well heres my take on it.I supercrop in flower when it is needed(to close to lights) If you are doing it fairly often the plant will be in some stage of healing continuously therefore affecting growth.I supercrop at the end of stretch around day 21 to even out the canopy and thats it.same goes for defoliation, I defoliate during week 4 in 2 stages to minimize shock, and then again around day 45,the second one isn't as brutal as the first, usually just any really big fan leaves to let light in. imo its better to do what you gotta do to even the canopy and then let them be,the less time they spend healing the more time they have to fatten up:)

Thanks bro, I'll knock it off!

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

theres yellowing on the top 1/4 of the biggest hgk that catches the delay twice(ive already turned the delay off) about a quarter of the way down the yellowing stops and its the only plant in the system that has it.so its gotta be the lights right? This plant is also the ones the gnats made a home in, im picking up some mosquito dunks tomorrow,im pretty confident they will do the job.heres a few pics.

this is halfway down the plant, theres no yellowing at all

I think I might tie it downs as low as I can get it and just hope for the best.Im also going to figure out what I lose by turning off the 4th switch on the lights, maybe that will help as well. If anybody thinks its something else please feel free to let me know what you think.

Hey john , they still looking cool regardless.

not a hydro guy mate but my first thought wasnt light. Maybe it is but not light heat as there is no upward curling. When problems start at the bottom they are usually related to an NPK or magnesium deff but when it the top half its usually one of the micro elements that its lacking. Just a thought. You will know more than me, just what I thought.

Ive started that super soil into a new journal and scrapped the old, the new one is in my sig below same link as old.

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

thats a possibility bro.maybe because its twice the size of the rest it need more nutes? The rest of the hgk look fine thats whats got me baffled and the pk are fine too,its just the one plant.Im running ppm's around 800-900 and everything is good there the ph rises slowly and the ppm's rises very slowly I dont add any nutes during the 7 days between res change. If the nute were dropping I would think defficiency but they rise,I adjust daily with 5 gallons of ph'd fresh water every 24hrs.

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Maybe the fluctuation is causing burn as there is some burns and twisted leaves but then why not the bottom. Not too sure mate dont want to pretend i am lol. Someone here will know more obviously.

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Well maybe its nute sensitive and the swings are burning it.

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

so after mulling this over in my head for a night what JBC420 said is starting to make sense to me so I added 50 mil of micro to 5 gallons of ph'ed water and after letting it circulate the ppm's ballanced out at around 840.Now we wait and see what happens.I know the leaves will not recover but as long as more dont show up things should be good.I ended up ordering mosquito dunks online after an extensive search for some in town, wrong time of year for those around here lol..but there is a nursery Im going to check out today and hopefully they have some. reps JBC420 I think you might be right bro:)

on credit bro lol..I have to spread some around first:lot-o-toke:

Ha no worries mate, happy to help if it helps. :thumb:

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Nurseries should have the dunks, that's where I get them in the winter. Honestly, bug pressure (specifically fungus gnats) can cause your leaves to look just like that. And, I've had it. Not saying that's it, but that's the way it looks sometimes, and that's what happened to me.

Part of it, if I remember correctly, is that they make the chlorophyll in the leaves more sensitive to the light brightness - causing the bleaching look. I wish I could remember where I read this... I will go so far as to say, that if you're seeing them around, I'd be surprised if you didn't have a plant with yellowing leaves. I've had fungus gnats get bad twice, and both times the yellow leaves just like yours. In other words, it really adds up to me.

This is from Orkin:

"Fungus gnat larvae often go unnoticed, as they remain near the roots of affected plants. Adult fungus gnats appear similar to small flies and many times are not identified as being destructive. Symptoms of fungus gnat larvae infestation include bright yellow leaves, slow growth and the presence of small flies, no larger than flecks of pepper, hovering below plants."

From Pest Control - Canada:

"Feeding - Fungus gnats seldom cause much damage to plants. The larva (worm) is the only form to feed, and it feed mainly on fungus and organic matter in the soil. When their numbers become high, the larvae will sometimes feed on the very tender root hairs on the plant. Plants damaged by gnats will lose vigor and
may show more than normal yellowing of leaves, and leaf shed."

You learn something new everyday, i stand corrected. Thanks for info Xl8r, never knew that.

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Interesting dilemma Jon. I agree with the guys about maybe being pest related but i have also found that if lights are a bit closer than they should be even though they are LED they still produce heat under the diode. Now if your room is 85oF or thereabouts then you stick the light panel over it and that temp increases more by a few degrees coupled witht the intense spectrum of the panel, WELL. On the rejects i got some of the leaves on the tallest plants closest to the panel turn yellow then crispy. Once i made sure there was air movement between the panel and canopy things seemed to get better.
