My First Grow: Grape Ape, Agent Orange x Huckleberry & Purple Skunk Mass

So, while tending to the LST on my plants, I noticed what at first looked like some sort of critter web on GA#2. But after a closer look, it's growing from the plant! Any idea what it is? The plant is day 34 under 24/0 white LED. I was told these were feminized seeds, but not autos - could this be the start of pistils?

@CrazyChef your plants are looking super healthy and I love your DIY setup. I also built my own grow box and its going great. Im really unsure of what that growth could be. I will ask around and see if I can figure it out. Super stressful not knowing whats going on with your plants. And dont worry about that branch you snapped off. Been there, done that. Your plant will fill out. Goodluck

Thank you sir! I do want to get a LARGE grow tent eventually - something large enough for 6X bushy plants. I'm thinkin' 6'X9'. That would give a good 3'X3' space for each plant. In MA, we can legally grow up to 12 plants, but only 6 in flower at any given time. I'm thinking of running 3 plants each of 4 different strains once I get this grow completed. Plant all 12 seeds, quad-line 9 of them (3 are gonna be autos), bring one strain plus the autos to flower while keeping the other 6 plants in veg (with massive amounts of LST) for some REALLY big girls!
I'll have the following seeds shortly:
  • OG Kush Auto Feminized Seeds - 3
  • Northern Light Feminized Seeds - 5
  • White Widow Feminized Seeds - 3
  • Cheese Feminized Seeds - 3
  • Bruce Banger Feminized Seeds -3
The general consensus so far is that the white hairs are normal. They only show up on the Grape Ape girls (including tiny ones on the clone).

Yeah, it sucks about the branch. I'm not really worried about the plant's health, but it'll lower my yield from her by 25%, which kinda sucks.

Just looking at the top of the leaves it does look like spider mites or something sucking the energy out your leaves. Do you see black spot underneath the leaves? Also your clones are looking great. Get some pyroll or some other insecticide specifically designed for spider mites

No black spots or tiny movement of anything whatsoever. I'm thinking it's just a genetic abnormality of some sort, as it's only on those 2 sets of leaves, and nowhere else one this plant or any of the other plants. Even it's new growth doesn't have it. I got the Monterey LG6150 Garden Insect Spray with Spinosad Concentrate for any future problems though.
It looks like the plant. See if you get more in the next few days and how it progresses.
I thought it was mold, but it appears it might just be part of new growth.

What’s up by the way Chef. I’ll tag along if you don’t mind.
I agree. And thanks for tagging along!
Hey Crazychef, it's a barrel of monkeys over here. That interesting pic might be a new branch coming out.
Thanks! yeah, I think I'm a bit over my head for my first grow, but I'm learning what to do and what not to do for my second grow.

DAY 38
(From dry seeds)

Here are a few updated pics of the girls. Gonna move the training wires around a bit then give the 4 main plants a good drink. The clones still have plenty of moisture in the soil, and I must say, they've come back to life with quite a lot of vigor! I've even started the LST on the GA#2 clone. Not that's it's that big of a deal, but I'm really diggin' the darker color of the PSM plant. Hoping to get some deep purples from her when she matures.

Ahh yeah im sure that will be big enough. Yeah im hoping to get a two 3x6 tents and then start a nice size greenhouse grow next summer. Good to hear the white hairs are pretty normal. Where are you from in Massachusetts? Im sure you wont loose 25% yield. It shouldn't be so bad.
The family is looking so beautiful.

I guess I'm just a proud daddy, but I have to say one more (last) time - I'm really surprised that the zombie clones sprang back to life as well as they did! I'm pretty sure it's partly due to using a very rudimentary CO2 generator - warm water, white sugar, and yeast mixed up in a container and left near the plants with a fan to "spread the love". Also, I Started LST on all 3 clones now, but have no intention of topping any of them. Just gonna force them into a spiral shape around their pots. First step is to get them all in a horizontal position, which I've managed to do without any breakage. :D:D:D If I had known I was gonna do this I would have transplanted them off center, so that's one more thing I've learned from my first grow. I really can't wait to harvest these so I can start my 2nd grow and apply what I've learned. But I really am quite happy with the results so far.

Here's a pic. Like I said, I wish I had transplanted them off center, then I could have trained the main stalk all the way across the bucket, then started the spiral. Or even start the training around the circumference, and gently spiral around towards the middle of the bucket, eventually leaving the main cola right in the center.

Everything is looking good I would be trying to get a better light for flower.
Your set up now is great for vegging.
Any extra light cfl or led or T5 will help improve your yeild.
I think your doing great, reading and studying is great ,hands on experience is were you learn mostly from mistakes. Lol
Your very lucky to be able to grow so many plants.
Long veggs is what you will be doing lol I do it all my girls veggs at least 10 weeks.
They are good size plants by then.
I'm going to pull up a chair peace out.

Thanks! I have another mylar "space blanket" that I think I'll be putting on the front of the shelf unit to keep the light more contained.

@Old Salt Here are the pics I just took. the side view pics kinda suck, but I was really just trying to show the height of each plant with those pics. Also, I have some trellis netting I was planning to use - the spacing is 3.5"x3.5" squares. So do you think I'll be able to keep all in a 2'x4' space?

You can put them in their final places and install the net. You can then use the net to train the plants.

Another approach would be using the smaller sized tomato cages, and train the plants to stay inside those. You can use plant ties to one or more of the verticals of the cage to guide them where you want. If you mount the cages in the substrate, you will be able to move the plants around right up to harvest.

Four plants or more plants is doable, but you need to envision what you want the plants to look like at harvest while they are still seedlings.

Plants are looking very good,Chef
I can guarantee you that they'll fit....for the next two weeks or so:)
j/k -We've got the same thing going on except you've got twice the space, and twice the plants...
Brings to mind Chris Farley's "Fat man in a little coat" routine, from Tommy Boy
